RurouniLoneWolf Posted February 25, 2015 Posted February 25, 2015 I kind of don't like that ASW employees are flat out banned from tournies, especially since from my understanding, there isn't any money on the line in JP tournies but eh, what can you do? JP and social customs and junk. Guess we'll just have to hope for casuals. Though, with a player as good as Yume working for them, you'd think ASW or Atlus would have him do some exhibitions with top players to promote the game every now and then. Oh well.

Buttface Posted February 27, 2015 Posted February 27, 2015 Presents now have no collision box at all, so they pass through people, personas, and everything else because of the time it takes to activate, at least some characters can just run through them

Buttface Posted February 27, 2015 Posted February 27, 2015 you've always been able to roll out due to it being a projectile It's still usable as oki because in 2.0 (and 1.1 with SB presents in the corner) you have time to pull the present after sweep and then meaty with a physical move.

Buttface Posted February 27, 2015 Posted February 27, 2015 Clouds are very useful in neutral when you can safely get them out, since they force the opponent to play a ground game while you get to play a ground/air game SB presents are also really good of sweep in the corner, and you should definitely use them more often with SB presents, you can either meaty 5A to catch rolls/upback, or you can wait and see and then punish rolls on reaction, stay safe from DP, and then still get the free mixup once chocolate triggers
TheOneTrueScrub Posted February 27, 2015 Posted February 27, 2015 I'll try to keep all of that in mind the next time I play. I'm usually burning meter on OMC combos to carry the opponent closer to the corner or using 236CD to catch the opponent sleeping. Oh and 236236C~D for passive meter gain.

I'm curious about what they're currently thinking about presents in neutral. I saw them pass through an opponent running forward again in the last batch of vids. It seems like it would be hard to intentionally time though since I'm guessing the trick is to run pass while it's still mid bounce and can't activate yet.
Buttface Posted April 1, 2015 Posted April 1, 2015 There should be more soon as TRF will be having weekly tournaments or something, and Mayuge goes to TRF No one has said anything about presents in neutral, but the reason people can run through them is because they no longer have any collision at all. They pass through personas, but because they also take time to become active, you can just run through them. Clouds are still strong in neutral because they limit the opponent's air movement while keeping your air movement free

Interesting, that they aren't talking about the change to presents. Perhaps it's not too big a cause for concern currently, which is good to hear. Buttface Posted April 4, 2015 Posted April 4, 2015 (edited) Stance cancel in pressure is actually really good when coupled with delayed 5BB frametrap you can do something like 5AA>2B>5B>214A~D>5C>hop>j.C to continue pressure mixing that up with 5AA>2B>5B>delay 5BB will keep them from mashing, rolling, or upbacking because of the threat of 5BB fatal, or the stance cancel baiting their DP, so you can keep them from DP OSing delay 5BB, allowing you to make it plus (if delayed as much as possible, 5BB>5A becomes a true blockstring, and even with a slight delay 5BB>2B becomes a true blockstring) and continue your pressure Hell, if you get them to respect it enough, you can just pull a present during pressure Several reversal supers and some of the larger DPs like Yu, Sho, Minazuki, Lab/SLab, Yosuke, Adachi, and Rise, etc will still hit from that range, so you have to bait them with stance cancel into nothing A few of the extremely fast reversal supers like cross slash and atom smasher will still hit you unless you SB stance cancel The persona invuln , D normal recovery reduction, and 5C rangeincrease in 2.0 made this kind of pressure WAY better, though the present pull speeds didn't affect the stance cancel speed itself. Looks like he was playing a new account. On an unrelated note, it seems like no matter now many times I try to quit Marie, I always keeping coming back. I should probably stop fighting it now.
