ZONG_one Posted October 7, 2009 Posted October 7, 2009 What's the difference between doing that and pressing the shortcut grab button-thing...? Shortcut grab button? As in R1 or w/e? That's pressing B+C at the EXACT same time. By Pressing C then pressing B Immediately after, the animation for C starts, but is cancelled into a throw. Thus, giving you more range on your throw. In the air, after airdashing, you're cancelling j.2C by pressing B right after C. That's what gives carl his downward trajectory. The down of j.2C starts, but is cancelled into an airdash throw, which goes straight. Therefore you go Diagonally down, instead of straight down/straight forward. I'm bad at explaining things..
MisoSowee Posted October 7, 2009 Posted October 7, 2009 so that's why your air throw beats my air throw even though I'm haku.... x_x

Well, B+C= X for me since R1=D... I guess that's why I keep failing at doing the loop...
ZONG_one Posted October 7, 2009 Posted October 7, 2009 Well, B+C= X for me since R1=D... I guess that's why I keep failing at doing the loop... That should be fine for the loop. You don't need kara throw for it. You need an arcade stick there, little lady.
Mikachiru Posted October 7, 2009 Posted October 7, 2009 That should be fine for the loop. You don't need kara throw for it. You need an arcade stick there, little lady. I wish I had an arcade stick. Shoryuken motion won't make me cry...XD
ZONG_one Posted October 7, 2009 Posted October 7, 2009 I wish I had an arcade stick. Shoryuken motion won't make me cry...XD Lol. DELL has TE's on sale for 100 bucks.. but only for 360.
Mikachiru Posted October 7, 2009 Posted October 7, 2009 Lol. DELL has TE's on sale for 100 bucks.. but only for 360. Do you play with a stick, ZONG?
ZONG_one Posted October 7, 2009 Posted October 7, 2009 Do you play with a stick, ZONG? Mmhm. You betcha. It's my baby.
Mikachiru Posted October 7, 2009 Posted October 7, 2009 Mmhm. You betcha. It's my baby. NO!! T_T I need to find someone who's good with Carl and doesn't use the stick... lol maids. XD
ZONG_one Posted October 7, 2009 Posted October 7, 2009 NO!! T_T I need to find someone who's good with Carl and doesn't use the stick... lol maids. XD Haha, Gotta love the maids. I don't know of many Carl players on stick.. Pikaboom plays on stick, but I don't think I've seen him on here at all/in ages.

ZONG_one Posted October 7, 2009 Posted October 7, 2009 I'm alone with Miso... Well, the R1 tip help so maybe using a stick would be better for me too...XD After a week or two on stick, your Carl will be better than you ever were on pad.
Mikachiru Posted October 7, 2009 Posted October 7, 2009 After a week or two on stick, your Carl will be better than you ever were on pad. But I've never really played at an arcade and stuff (only once or twice I think). It will probably take me even more time. XD I like the pad, though Shoryuken makes my a bit sad (it sometime reads as 3C or 2C) and Shinkuhadouken even more so (I need to use the analog stick for that, I hear).
ZONG_one Posted October 8, 2009 Posted October 8, 2009 SRK is easier. IAD is easier. Kara is easier. Alle-can is easier. 2C>8]D[ is easier. Of course, all of this is IMO. BTW, you back online yet?
Soothesayer Posted October 8, 2009 Posted October 8, 2009 Mmhm. You betcha. It's my baby. This is no doubt the most badass stick I have ever laid eyes on. Roberta FTW. Black Lagoon is probably my favorite anime of all time.
Kyle Posted October 8, 2009 Posted October 8, 2009 Nice one Zong. Because it's show & Tell, here's mine. =P Just got a 360 upgrade. Muahahahahahahaha.
Terramaster Posted October 8, 2009 Posted October 8, 2009 Hi, I'm a new Carl main and I wish I had a stick I needz monies for a Chultu board and all the buttons and jibbers, or just a regular old hori >_> So far I can do a 41236D while doing another attack. Putting D on R1 really helped. But now Im hitting X for Nirvana instead XD. 623 still makes me sad, as does the Gear Super. Hate 6A/6D because I do it tooo often. Other fighting games I play have conditioned me for that. I wonder if this game would accept a keyboard? But as far as my synergy goes for Nirvana/Carl attacks. It's craptacular >_< BTW: Huzza! BlazeBlue get last otherday! The online is fantasticly non laggy in my bedroom with 50-60% Wifi connection ^_^
MisoSowee Posted October 9, 2009 Posted October 9, 2009 Um I just have a QUICKKK question about clap trap. Well.. maybe not so quick.... yeah. anyways I'm just curious what produces the weird "basketball" effect when you're doing the throw loop? I can NOT kill tager with just one loop because he'll randomly just fly upwards. I SWEAR I'm doing it right too. Does this mean that I'm just doing it wrong and if he were to tech at the first frame, it would've dropped? I just saw the "carl's loop on everyone" and a lot of them just recreate the weird "basketball" effect to win (with some crazy variations). I'm just... really lost. Trying to learn Jin's loop right now with the 6a - 8d stuff and it's semi-difficult, but whenever he bounces high up it just annoys me lol. Thank you in advance :O
Terramaster Posted October 9, 2009 Posted October 9, 2009 Miso, isn't that from the air throw bouncing the guy off the floor? I would imagine it allows you recover your air dashes and such. Have you tried these as well? I am not going to bother with that personally, until I can alacan with a stick (which I am lacking at the moment >_<) At least I'm hopeful for the 2a juggling.
MisoSowee Posted October 9, 2009 Posted October 9, 2009 Yeah it's where they bounce off the floor but I"m PRETTY sure the clap is still hitting. I feel like if they DID tech during that throw, that the clap wouldn't come out and I just fail.... *shrug* o_O
ZONG_one Posted October 9, 2009 Posted October 9, 2009 This is no doubt the most badass stick I have ever laid eyes on. Roberta FTW. Black Lagoon is probably my favorite anime of all time. Gotta love Black Lagoon. The Manga is GREAT, I'm not that far into the anime yet. Only first disc of the first season. That's good so far though. :] And thanks! Nice one Zong. Because it's show & Tell, here's mine. =P Just got a 360 upgrade. Muahahahahahahaha. That's sick. 360 Upgrade from what? I have a Cthulu and a wooden box I'm working on.. but I haven't touched it for about a month. I just finished/frankensteined a mayflash together. :] I wonder how easy it is to mod the Cthulu to work on 360 as well. What is it... with the Imp board or something? I'll have to check SRK tech talk. How knowledgable are you on stick building? Yeah it's where they bounce off the floor but I"m PRETTY sure the clap is still hitting. I feel like if they DID tech during that throw, that the clap wouldn't come out and I just fail.... *shrug* o_O different tech timings for things.. an early clap will catch a throw tech, but whiff if they don't, so you just stand there and wait for them to come back down and j.B+C again.. You're just going to have to mess around. Have the training dummy tech randomly, so you get to try it in all different heights/timings/tech situations. Also, you clap right before the throw, like a split second. So if they do tech the throw, the clap should still come out.
Kyle Posted October 9, 2009 Posted October 9, 2009 Miso- The "Basketball" combo you are referring to is NOT the Basketball we actual refer to. What you are talking about is a whiff 8]D[, more or a less an empty air-throw. These ARE ESCAPABLE with a LATE throw break. I don't like those. Well, I don't think Tager can escape them, but ONLY TAGER. Our "Basketabll Combo" as as you mentioned. Hit's the floor than the later part of orb. This is only viable against: Ragna b/c of his weird hit boxes V-13 b/c she's a fatass Bang b/c he's a fatass Reference vid for staple combos. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=27OwE9dok6M Honestly: Tager, Bang, V-13, LItch & Ragna are the easiest to infinite loop. You should learn these first!
4Corners Posted October 9, 2009 Posted October 9, 2009 You're dropping it b/c you're messing up the timing. It could have been that you started to early on the very 1st one, and it messed up the rest of them, buuuuuut yeah. That's how I found out about whiffing from the SJ loop vs Tager without him really being able to do a single thing about it. Just analyze the hell out of your playing, and you'll figure out the timing soon enough. EDIT: Oh, and for people that want to practice useless things, the input for the ground kara-throw is actually 6b~c 5c~b won't do anything. 6b moves you forward, and that's how you extend the range. Seriously, though, Carl's karathrow is garbage.
