Josh Ballard Posted December 18, 2008 Posted December 18, 2008 so yeah, eddie i'm thinking i might have to just learn the guy myself ala sean, not to actually play him but just to figure out wtf is going on
krazykorean456 Posted December 18, 2008 Posted December 18, 2008 so yeah, eddie i'm thinking i might have to just learn the guy myself ala sean, not to actually play him but just to figure out wtf is going on That's what I did about a year ago. Best thing that I ever did to help me in the Eddie matchup since there are no peepz here that main that bastards >_<
SH_ Posted December 18, 2008 Posted December 18, 2008 yo josh, very off topic, but Omar from Cleveland is rolling down on tuesday next week, you 2 should get in cahoots and roll through with him, I will show you some stuff about ABA Eddie that will make your mind esplode...
MarlinPie Posted December 18, 2008 Posted December 18, 2008 always block the first hit of mawaru standing. gets you one extra free frame so easier to slashback the second hit, or backdashing works too. dont abuse them though, they could be punished. also. if you can stand IB the first hit then backdash out. that'd be the best as long as you know your opponent is in a situation that he cant throw in a 5K right in between the gap. also, since you're aba, 25% tension is all you need to get the fuck out of stuff. FB danzai in between the 1st/2nd hit of mawaru and the unblockables. If you're in normal mode, obviously its interchangeable with FB slide. Eddie generally wants to keep the distance at far range. Unless you're playing like. you know. not so good eddies. but instant airdashing in is just a bad idea in aba vs eddie. eddie's j.k is like 9:1 vs aba's aerial attacks. she might have powerful, high priority, and heavy moves but unfortunately they're too slow for that j.k. Im not saying you should never airdash in though, just never rely on that. Nevertheless, if eddie's ch 2hs happens to catch you while you're trying to approach him from the air. free two knockdowns + massive damage for eddie. reliable pokes vs eddie arent anything special. just the general pokes mixed in with jump in/jump in attempts. if i were aba, and if im trying to approach him, I would get to the range where eddie would throw out a 2s or f.s at you. Thats where the mindgames come in; eddie would try to outpoke you by placing a move in advance, before you even get into the range where your moves would reach since.. unfortunately that just the only way eddie can win vs aba's f.s and hs's. If you feel like anticipating the 2s or f.s, you should jump, or at least have that option on top of your head; if you dont confirm either of those two moves you can back airdash out anytime anyway. If eddie does do either of those two moves, you win the RPS, you're now in his AYSS. Have fun in there, dont ever leave his ass. move in there with wife, have some children in there. Bring in your bed and everything you need to have a good life. well anyway, say if eddie didnt use the pokes. you're in midrange. thats the distance you should be in. Poking game in that range would be too simple so i dont think i dont even have to explain to an actual aba player. Im just trying to tell you what eddie players are thinking in far range aba battle. I'd tell you what eddie players should be thinking in different situations but this isnt the right place. =\ -- wow i wrote a lot.. in less than 10 minutes. and i spent 8 hours writing a 7 page term paper yesterday? damn i should change my major to guilty gear.
ShibuyaX Posted December 18, 2008 Posted December 18, 2008 LOL.....damn...im so hyped for the next big tourney in GG......
TITANIUM BEAST!!! Posted December 18, 2008 Posted December 18, 2008 I thought the standing/crouching differences in stun only mattered on hit. I thought blockstun was always the same.
TITANIUM BEAST!!! Posted December 19, 2008 Posted December 19, 2008 That's strange, because when I look in my copy of the mook, where the table that has all the hit/block stuns for different states/types of guard, there is a separate entry for both standing and crouching hit, but not for standing and crouching guard. Just curious.
Capps Posted December 19, 2008 Author Posted December 19, 2008 all gg vids [that i recorded] are up. thx for the comments. nice post marlinpie. ^_^
