I don't know how to explain properly in english but I will try my best !   I use something like hard polystyrene with a long metallic bar inside. Here is a picture :     After that I recovered

Jam, what manner of crafty things have you that need doing? I, perhaps, being a veteran cosplayer of insanely complex things (I found a way to make P3's Thanatos have LITERAL floating coffins!), may be able to halp.

But yeah.

Basically need to figure out a good way of doing the headpiece [i thought of how to do it with cardboard and stuff, but that's ghetto], the thing below her shoulders holding up the cape, and all the jewels... >>;

Someone needs to do a god-tier Hakumen cosplay. Like, the kind of costume that is not street legal due to the sheer biblical proportions of awesome. It could be legendary.

No, no, I doubt I was THAT Thanatos, because no con would permit me entry, because the EPIC COFFINS stuck out like 2 feet and were all set at different heights, they also moved with my body (not my arms, muscle flexes controlled them.) They said I would be too great a distraction....

Also, cardboard isn't as ghetto as you'd think, have you seen some of the cardboard visual tutorials on cosplay.com? I saw an Automail Arm that looked scary real. But, fitted plastic could work, but that's hard to work with. Could go with insulation foam, it's what most people use for accessories of that nature. If it weren't half past midnight I could probably help more.

@ Asylum: I second that motion and will draw up plans immediately following the completion of my Arakune cosplay! (If I work on more than one concept at a time I end up with weird stuff...like the time I did a sketch of Nu for my friend's cosplay and ended up with Zeta, some weird male version...)

A Canon 500D with Tamron 17-50mm f/2.8 lens. Nothing too great, but gets the job done. :P

Well I strive to be a good photographer, I really like the hobby. So those words mean alot to me, thanks. :P

And I like providing decent quality photos of good cosplay, since I've liked looking at them too in the past.

Next month will be another convention that I plan on attending. I'll be putting some more pictures in http://www.flickr.com/photos/zippi- like I did this time.

Yeah, I really need new lens... something with f/1.4 so the background wouldn't be so sharp. Though most of those lenses cost a little too much.

Or should have just asked her to take a few steps forward. :P

If you want background separation, I'd just go with any 70-200. Even at f/4 (which is what you were using anyways), if you're far enough back, there will be hardly any background visible. The problem with 1.4's is that you'll often get their eyes in focus, but their nose and ears won't be.

Yes, but there's also the issue of space. The convention centres ain't too big here in Finland and are usually fully crowded, so trying to take pictures from far away will end up people running right in front of you. And the 70-200 also costs a fuckton. :P
