FerrellJ Posted January 31, 2014 Posted January 31, 2014 GGPO has the stigma of being associated with emulation and piracy, and a lot of companies won't touch it because of that. It does? People don't understand that the emulation is only an issue with old arcade roms? Or are you saying they choose not to use it out of spite? It's got the unquestionable reputation for being one of the best netcodes out there when used correctly- reportedly being relatively easy to implement and cheap to license, I don't understand why a company would overlook GGPO in favor of spending tens of thousands of dollars developing their own unless they feel they can do it better. So far, only ArcSys has come up with anything consistently comparable.
iw2ma Posted January 31, 2014 Posted January 31, 2014 Wrong, Namco has as well. Whatever sorcery they used for SC5 online is beyond my comprehension. It's the single best netcode i've ever seen on a fighting game period. AND it's a 3d fighter, so it's even more of an accomplishment. TTT2 is good as well, but it's not SC5 good. THEN Aksys is below them lol

iw2ma Posted February 1, 2014 Posted February 1, 2014 Then it's your opponents my friend. Either they're dumb or salty lol.
TAI-X Posted February 1, 2014 Posted February 1, 2014 It does? People don't understand that the emulation is only an issue with old arcade roms? Or are you saying they choose not to use it out of spite? As easy as it is to forget, those old arcade roms are technically no less illegal than games that just came out yesterday. The only legal roms are these ones.
FerrellJ Posted February 1, 2014 Posted February 1, 2014 As easy as it is to forget, those old arcade roms are technically no less illegal than games that just came out yesterday. My point was that GGPO, as a netcode, does not somehow make it any easier to pirate or emulate a modern console game that uses it. If developers are under the impression that it does or refuse to use it out of spite, well, I suppose they probably deserve to spin their wheels developing their own system... If they don't want to use it because their game otherwise won't allow it (no savestates?) or they think they can do better, fine. It just seems FKD isn't very well suited for that task- they either lack the resources, expertise or motivation to do it. In any case, I don't really know what I'm expecting at this point- it's not like the game ever had a huge following that just decided to drop it because of no netplay and I'm not sure the addition of netplay ("soon") is going to change that. That's why I think it's odd that they would apparently spend all this time developing it.
TAI-X Posted February 2, 2014 Posted February 2, 2014 They're not worried about their own games being pirated because of GGPO. They're worried about being mentioned in the same breath as emulators and pirates.
Kyosuke Kagami Posted February 2, 2014 Posted February 2, 2014 Damn, I checked this thread because I swear I saw the word "PS4" Would be awesome if they re-release this game on PS4, with the after mentioned online option.
Vlad7779311 Posted March 26, 2014 Posted March 26, 2014 Chaos Code has been released on PSN in some select European countries today and it's around 9.99 EUR. No online yet. Still not sure if it's worth buying the game.
SolxBaiken Posted April 1, 2014 Posted April 1, 2014 zzz this year's 4/1 is pretty disappointing: "SG" Hikaru Also this site lol  Apparently he missed the opportunity to get a rare item after 5 days of waiting and was so filled with rage that his eyes began to shoot lazers = w=  BEEEEAM~!  Hecatom 1
Aloci Posted April 1, 2014 Posted April 1, 2014 zzz this year's 4/1 is pretty disappointing: "SG" Hikaru  BEEEEAM~!  What are you talking about?  That looks awesome. Can I actually download that? haha
SolxBaiken Posted April 1, 2014 Posted April 1, 2014 Well I find it boring because it is the easy way out for a fighter, not to mention Skullgirls already did this and last year they actually crushed my hopes with Celia shooter lol  Also he is referenced as being akin to a certain Marvel superhero :s [hint, he wears the mask to suppress his sorrowful tear lazer vision lol]. The back story is what makes this ok honestly lol  But no, he is not real lol after all he is in "Old Sign of Catastrophe" lol
Aloci Posted April 1, 2014 Posted April 1, 2014 Oh well. I was getting hype because the Skullgirls guys actually released a "Decapre" parody of Fillia that'd downloadable and playable. Â I was hoping that Chaos Code was doing the same.
Aloci Posted April 7, 2014 Posted April 7, 2014 Actually what are some good resources for learning this game besides the Mizuumi Wiki and a-cho videos?
TAI-X Posted April 13, 2014 Posted April 13, 2014 Actually what are some good resources for learning this game besides the Mizuumi Wiki and a-cho videos? I don't think there are any others in English, sadly. I'd like to know what combos can be done out of Catherine's Love Power Coming Out.

Akiro Posted June 15, 2014 Posted June 15, 2014 So, any news on Netplay? Still dying to play it online.
TAI-X Posted June 15, 2014 Posted June 15, 2014 So, any news on Netplay? Still dying to play it online. I've long since given up hope. It's safe to say at this point that they weren't able to make it work and we won't be getting it. Would most likely be laggy as hell anyway.
Kyosuke Kagami Posted June 17, 2014 Posted June 17, 2014 Let's hope that the next release for consoles (Ps4 plz) features online play
TAI-X Posted June 17, 2014 Posted June 17, 2014 Since when has FK Digital ever mentioned working on another fighter? They seem to be content churning out handheld and mobile shovelware as of late.
Crono Reyer Posted June 17, 2014 Posted June 17, 2014 Tenryo basically said this but the best English resource for cc is the pocket of players it has, hit us up in irc or even on twitter if you want to ask questions. We know the characters we play pretty well. Also I'm still holding my breath on the netplay, would really like to have more competition than a bimonthly free to enter with maybe 6 entrants
Akiro Posted June 18, 2014 Posted June 18, 2014 Does Tenryo still browse here? Maybe he can comment on the netplay situation, I've been playing this again recently with a friend of mine and this game is too good for it to just die like this.
Crono Reyer Posted June 18, 2014 Posted June 18, 2014 Tenryo is no longer an fkd official, so even if he still browsed, which he likely does, he probably doesn't know the situation of the patch and netplay or even if its still coming at all, just like the rest of us.
