Kikuichimonji Posted March 8, 2015 Posted March 8, 2015 Hey does anyone know some good pressure strings with Leo that can rack up R.I.S.C. quickly on block. I'm just curious to see what other people might come up with I tried 5P > 5K (2K) > 2S 5P > 5K (2K) > 5S > 236S (for a possible tech trap) 2P > 2K > 5S > 6H (for guard point) but I think there are better ones out there and also include BT pressure strings if you know some. Thanks In Advance 5P/2P 5K cl.S 6K dashing 5P 5K cl.S f.S 5H 236S/6H: Their guard bar is now flashing. All of my Leo's strings end with 6H, 6K, 236S, or 2D. If the opponent instant blocks the end of that string, he can potentially get a move out. However, Leo has a variety of moves with which he can reset his strings, and many of his normal string moves are plus on block, so it's easy to stop a string early and continue pressure as long as you're a little unpredictable. 5K, cl.S, 2S, and 5H can all be used as string enders, especially if the opponent is anticipating a chain (say a 6K or 6H). Doing 5K three times in a row is semi-legit against people conditioned to not mash out. This is also how you can sneak 236H into blockstrings against good players. You make them forget you have it, then hit them with it when their RISC bar is flashing and get a juicy meterless combo. Hey people How do you deal with a rush down in the corner sol? Plan A: Don't get knocked down in the corner Plan B: Block on wake-up, jump over the Gunflame. Plan C: Block for a long time, FD to push him out, try to read when he's going to Wild Throw and jump/2P/6K him out of it Plan D: H Eisen Sturm anything and everything How do you deal in the air his 5k? Your j.K, when done early, has a good chance of beating his 5K. Besides that, you can double jump to bait it and come back down with j.K, but he probably will have recovered by then. Just respect the anti air. Or try to Blitz Shield/j.236H it as a call out.
Achoral Posted March 15, 2015 Posted March 15, 2015 Is there ANY point in doing Leo's fs-p and hs-p guard points? I do it everytime Faust gets the meteors, and against Venom's slow projectiles. Most of the Faust players I faced never did a low on me during this so I assume I just surprised them, but I'm sure they could do it. It only works against average Fausts who will just guard and wait for you to get hit by the meteors most of the time to start a combo. It did completely nullify Venom's teleport-jP multihit dive and I landed a CH HS behind. No idea if that's punishable, I'm sure Venom has time to do a low somewhere afterwards. I've also parried I-No's dash approach several times with it, but I never managed to land a CH behind her and actually got CH'd myself after the parry, so I ended up guarding after the parry most of the time, which made the parry useless... I've also been trying to use it against Ramlethal's swords but I never managed to pull it the fS fast enough. I'm not even sure it's possible. It's kind of viable as long as you don't overuse it and just surprise your opponent in a small situation. It's as risky as yolo 236H fullscreen imo.
C4IQ Posted March 15, 2015 Posted March 15, 2015 Some LEO action. Looking to get some ideas from other leo players so any tips would be great. https://youtu.be/4bWQbgeatgk
greatfernman Posted March 16, 2015 Posted March 16, 2015 why do you keep going for 6H after 5H it doesn't combo... you also drop so many confirms that could be damage and knockdown and opt to just press buttons that don't combo or do berserker slash, I don't get it.
C4IQ Posted March 16, 2015 Posted March 16, 2015 Because previous games with this opponent he would up back and back dash out of pressure. 6H will catch that. And if he didn't do that and just blocked Iam still plus.if I was to consistent get grabbed or hit between 5H, 6H I would change my string. As for confirms I can only blame myself and lag for that.lol
greatfernman Posted March 16, 2015 Posted March 16, 2015 no i mean you're comboing him and then after 5H you go for 6H instead of just knocking him down with rekkas i don't actually remember you doing 5H 6H in pressure much, you do it midcombo which honestly makes no sense to me
Sìnsìn Posted March 24, 2015 Posted March 24, 2015 Guys your two cents about a good sub chara for cover leo's bad matchups?
greatfernman Posted March 25, 2015 Posted March 25, 2015 any character because all of leo's matchups are bad (except perhaps slayer)
Maho Posted March 25, 2015 Posted March 25, 2015 (except perhaps slayer) And even that might change in 1.1 seeing the buffs he got.
Kikuichimonji Posted March 25, 2015 Posted March 25, 2015 Where can I find the match list? The old one!Do you mean a chart with all the matchup numbers? I don't think that exists for Leo because he's console only, and the Japanese have only recently been able to access him in arcades. So you probably won't find a matchup chart with Leo in it until 1.1 stuff is done. If you want to know how a few specific matchups feel in terms of numbers, I'd be happy to help. For example, I think Leo goes even with Zato in 1.0, but loses to Millia and Elphelt 4-6.
Kikuichimonji Posted March 26, 2015 Posted March 26, 2015 I've been looking at stuff involving [4]6S YRC, and it seems really strong in blockstrings. I made a little video of a blockstring involving the YRC, and you basically get to IAD j.K for free if they didn't already contest the projectile before the YRC. https://youtu.be/GoWwPso2rNE
Nobus3r1 Posted March 27, 2015 Posted March 27, 2015 Q: Since Dustloop's wiki (unless I'm being especially thick and have missed it) doesn't list the charge times for Graviert Wurde and Eisen Sturm I was wondering if anyone knew what the charge times where for these moves? I ask, mostly, because I suspect the there's a similar issue with Graviert Wurde S that Vatista from UNIEL has with Mikuruseo (Magnetic Disruptor; [6]4X) in that the game is "storing" the charge for longer than it should or maybe the charge time for Graviert Wurder is really short. It's why I'm asking. Here are a couple of Youtube videos demonstrating what I'm talking about with regards to Vatista: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=y3pKYXkIzAw https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=amTVDIolYEk

That's why stuff like Leo's cl.S 5H [2]8H combos are possible. You can do multiple [4]6S fireballs in a row by charge buffering. I made a quick video. https://youtu.be/5A6BzC82f_0
zankoku Posted March 28, 2015 Posted March 28, 2015 I'm not sure of the exact term, but I've also accidentally done running sonic booms with Leo multiple times. Somehow it's storing the charge for more than just a few frames when I do [1] 66 S?

Somehow it's storing the charge for more than just a few frames when I do [1] 66 S? If you needed to assign a term for it, that would be another type of charge buffering. That's a known quality of charge attacks in GG. It's also the reason that it's important to 1 frame jump with P and K with Leo, so that you don't get Eisen Sturm
C4IQ Posted March 28, 2015 Posted March 28, 2015 Started A google doc for Leo related things. still in the early stage, so there alot of updates and information needed to be added. any suggestion would be great and if you would like to help and things let me know. To go with Doc, ive made a playlist where i will add any video that appear in the doc. things like set up, position specific combos will go here to make it easy for all my fellow leo players. AFRICA Posted March 30, 2015 Posted March 30, 2015 what's the charge time for Leo projectiles and DP? I want to be able to throw any of these on reaction, and I need to know how far ahead of time do I need to plan for it! Also, how long does each move takes to come out and the invulnerability/active frames for his DP?

As for the second, look at the Dustloop Wiki frame data.

AFRICA Posted March 31, 2015 Posted March 31, 2015 I talked to a couples of people and it seems that nobody has a clear answer.. Also I am also starting to notice that I can charge run forward then throw the projectile... This is great.. And I certainly want to master this... There is just no reliable data... Maybe there a similar character in other games that have the same charging mechanics? I need more info on this
