Heres my longass post, retyped, so it shortens, fuck this. Used to be 10 points, now, a lot less coz i don't remember anymore.
1. We're sorry that we ditched the last minute, but it really was a last decision to even ditch. It was thursday night when I heard that MTL couldn't make the trip, at which point I was thinking "oh well at least we can play sauga". Friday night comes around, I find out even Sauga can't make the trip anymore. The whole reason why we even wanted to do this in the first place was for the MTL guys (who leo has been stalking and know they've actively stepped up since T11) so we want to play. Now theres simply no reason to.
2. You're right, BB can easily draw 20+ players, because 18 of those would be gety guys, and 2+ random peeps. In fact, at T11 iirc, there were 2 guys from toronto (shoutouts to nekoneko and tinman) that joined, 5-6? MTL/Ottawa, Nerdjosh, and everybody else were from gety. We had 30 people. Other SRK guys I know that plays BB didn't even join the tournament (although they came in for casuals) because they just dont have that desire to win. We only go to T tourneys in hopes to play against foreigners, we don't expect to actually get a lot of new locals to our community. We've been through this 10 years. We know it isn't happening, the organizers are getting burned out of even trying at the wrong places. In fact, we've had more success at getting new locals from going to anime conventions lol. SRK just isn't the place.
3. I don't think our mentality is that "we're fucking awesome, nobodys gonna beat us, especially the top players", at least I don't think I'm that cocky, and definitely not Master Kou. Its not that "theres no point hosting a tournament, results are the same" its more like "the results can easily be predicted in a game like GG/BB". Nobody in this game does wakeup super to make a miracle comeback of 70% life. In a game where fundamentals actually play a larger role than random shit, the results can easily be predicted. (TOP) Japanese won't go to majors and get 25th in games (shoutouts to daigo) like this, japanese goes and plays solely based on fundamentals and come first place (shoutouts to tokido). Our top players have sat out of tournaments and just host/record to make tourneys more interesting, Our top players sit down and teach new members how to play, whats wrong with their game, whats wrong with their stick holding lol. I'm disappointed that you feel this way towards us actually, I really am.
4. Nazir's point x100. The community moves around to cater to new peeps doesn't make sense. The community moving around to cater new peeps that we know for a fact that doesn't even exist makes even less sense. The fact that BB is still known as "BlazeBlue" to the tourney organizers is still a joke to me.
5. Harder to get to gety than TFNS makes no sense to me. You take your 30 minute drive south from your highway to TFNS, and convert it to a 30 minute drive north to gety instead. I don't see the problem that people can make it to TFNS but not gety. If they actually care enough about leveling up and playing good people, they should make the trip. People taking public transportation I can understand, since VIVA is a bitch, so thats fine, but even our community has people relying on public transportation and showing up. Shoutouts to cambridge and fugu for making the trips. The fact is, people who's been consistently showing up has consistently been getting better.
6. Anybody who actually wants to get better at GG/BB knows SRK isn't the place to go. In fact, if people don't know about dloop, i'd be extremely suprised if they were anywhere near a competitive level. Anybody who is on dloop should know us. We have (former) forum mods, we have people(trolls) in almost every character thread, we're one of the most active threads on a day to day basis. If they don't want to speak up, thats fine, they know where we play. if they don't even want to show up, then we can't help with that. How bout we bring a setup to their place and teach them how to play, sounds like a plan?
7. Name one person who has joined our community due to a tournament at any T tourney/collective tourney with SF guys. I honestly can't name a single person (outside of yourself i suppose, but you're tekken really) that joined, although I can name some fools who's like "i can't even dash in this game, fuck this, im selling my game". Shoutouts to all our new members since T10 who started off with BB and some migrating to GG now, you know who you are, I don't need to name like 10 people lol. Everybodys improved a lot since they started coming out with us and making the effort every week. Funny thing is with all these new members, none of them were actually from SRK. Wu was through me n dota, Akuun was through Hermes, martine/julien was through AN lol, roldy and many others just met us through dloop. Shoutouts to people still thinking SRK is going to help us grow.
I forgot my other 3 points, so i'll leave it at that. Oh, yes, we're elitist pricks when it comes to going to different places and paying venue fee to play against each other.
fugu: Hi, I'm that Carl ^_^. shoutouts on making all the effort to get to gety to play against us. You got a lot better from what I remember last time, keep at it! I could bash on your game harshly if you'd like, just let me know if you're ready for salt. I'm good at bashing at people's games coz I'm so focking awesome + elitist prick.
