(You mean Leon) I wish I had actually played Tales of Destiny. Symphonia was the first one I knew. The game doesn't show much of his past? That upsets you?
The movie should be enough. All we know in the game is that Yuri was an ex-soldier and he left because he couldn't stand the status-quo and putting up with it. His actions reflect on his past, like having no choice but to kill those who go to far. Isn't that enough?
If you look at other rpgs besides Tales, character development can be meaningful, but the flow is too obvious. Tales of the Abyss had the best development to me. Legendia is the same as Vesperia, it doesn't show the protagonist's past and that he's pretty much developed, but he has room for more. I dunno, I would love to play games like they have characters that aren't too cliche. :P -
(I don't think I was misunderstood.....) I actually like it that way. In JRPG's, character development is pretty much the main character who's oblivious from the start and still a kid until he grows up a "little." For Yuri, he's an adult and he already knows what's going on. He strives on developing even more. Ever wonder why people say Yuri's a Western character stuck in a JRPG?
It saves me the trouble of seeing some repetitive plot twist anyway. :P
