The little changes in the tankoubon make some more sense, Mai's home city is now Shinatsu (same as Makoto) instead of the non-existent "Avan". I figured the "Avan" was an editorial mistake and the "avan" actually meant "avant title" and was not actually supposed to be in text. Seems I was right. Mori's drawing of Mai in an NOL uniform like Noel's (minus the hat) was also a treat.

I think it has something to do with input priority (B randomiser coming out instead of SB randomiser, or something). S-Hold System: Hold down A and a bar will appear on screen. Charge it up and let go to unleash a move with special properties. If you have the meter you can hold down more for a super move, even more for an awakening super and even further more for an instant kill. The S in S-Hold stands Suplex and apparently is pronounced as such in the tutorial video (SUUPUREKKUSU HORUDO SHISUTEMU).

Chapter 18 Part 2: It begins with a fight between Mai and Chachakaka, but Chacha promptly gives up after it seems that Mai can not be defeated 1-on-1. Apparently being the Intermediary Grimoire has also given Mai the ability to anticipate her opponents movements with incredible accuracy, like the Sharingan from Naruto. Chacha reveals to Mai that there have been several Kirihito assassins before Shiori that were targeting Jin. Mai was able to figure out that Taro is Jin's protector from this. After Chacha runs away, Mai encounters Relius who's like "oh, a soul that is both male and female. How very interesting." and creeps the hell out of Mai (Mai's scared of how Relius could figure she was male just from looking) before leaving. Seifer was watching, he seems to figured out that Mai is fused to a grimoire and comments that this brings him closer to the path towards the Crimson Grimoire (AKA BurningRed). Relius reports to Hazama, says he's possibly found the Crimson Grimoire in Torifune. The Crimson Grimoire is apparently something left behind by Nine. Mai finally meets up with Taro, finally realises she has feelings for Taro and the chapter ends with Mai questioning herself. "I (boku) am... I (watashi) am... a man... !?"

Faylan singing a lyrical version of Awakening the Chaos was surprising. Stardust Memory appears to be a remix of the original, but Don't Look Back, Childish Killer, Shinsou and blue-bloom are their original versions. Although Butterfly Sky II is a new version of Butterfly Sky, it's still based on the original Alexandrite and not Alexandrite II.
