He had no clue how to deal with Valk at all. He probably didn't know Valk was this strong in CS1 since hes probably just accustomed to CS2 Valk. Didn't help that Guardian has very good defense so shout outs to him for that. Good match all around.

This has got to be the most ironic statement by Scott ever :3 Also it could be a woman if Willy is involved. Although we all know thats a matchup Willy just can't win :3 -

Psh just pick Jin or Tager, their combos are exactly the same in CS2 so you don't need practice :3 -
Manta, the writeup is good, only thing I would tweak is the part about ending combos early favor of getting resets. In some cases, ending the combo early is the right choice but there are also some situations where not ending it early makes the reset happen, but tweaking the combo itself gives the reset. Easy example is a CH5D>BSledge combo. The normal combo afterwards lets them tech before you can end of BGadget. BUT if you tweak the combo and change a few hits, you can still end on BGadget after having 2 Colliders in the combo. I'll put the combo just for the sake of completion: CH5D>BSledge>2C>AC>AC Whiff>6B>AC>BGadget works and you don't lose anything since you managed to get 2 Colliders and avoided ending it early. Fatals can hold to the same argument just from the way Fatals work. Tager actually gets GOOD damage and amazing heat gain from a Fatal with a little creativity. So again, your writeup is solid and well written, I just wanted to add in that while Tager's combo rate is crap, if you work around it, you can make good combos almost anywhere without sacrificing anything. But thats just under the assumption you want to end in Gadget oki. I know you put setups as a generalized thing but if you do expand on that part, this would be something good to keep in mind.
-
It would work in CS1 too. j.C allows them to roll out if they delay the tech. The answer to this was to do a falling j.C after to force the tech and go from there but with the [W]5B>j.B ender, I don't think they can delay the tech without the worry of being reset by say [W]5A or [H]2C. Double jump after the j.B is to setup a fuzzy guard and get Valk starting on pressure. Only REAL issue with this oki is after a long combo, you'll have very little Wolf meter to work with which means you pretty much have to start on Human pressure and gain some meter back before going back into Wolf if you really wanna mixup them up.
-
I'll tell you what Dusty, I'll MM you in CS2, not for a FT5 or anything like that. This a defense match. Can you block ALL of the mixups I throw at you for an entire round? If its so easy and weak as you say it is, shouldn't be an issue right? Just REACT for me and show me how bad it supposedly is. You block everything, no counter attacks, no running, just block and avoid Command Grabs for 99 seconds. You win, $50 in your pocket, you lose, you think a bit harder about how "bad" he is. FYI, you should give the Valk players at least a bit of credit instead of bashing on us for "playing combos." We completely respected your arguments and just tried to describe how they're a bit off and you're just insulting us as players. I've been busting my ass since he came out on 360 to learn him. I don't just auto pilot combos as blockstrings or any of that shit. Frankly I'm pissed you assume thats all we do. The Valk forums are NOT just a bunch of idiots yelling at each other over how awesome 2C is and that 5B>5C>236C is the best mixup ever. Learn to not be as ignorant and give the people you're arguing with some credit.

Valk having weaker damage in CS2 is perfectly ok. He NEEDED a damage reduction to begin with cause his damage output was unmatched for how easy it was to obtain it. Arakune could rival it sure, but he needed to work to get curse to get that damage. Valk was just "Are they in the air? 2C! Did it hit? 7K! Did they block? JUMP! Did it whiff? DO IT AGAIN!" Its dumb that one Anti Air does 80% on most of the cast. So him having lower damage is fine. It means Valk HAS to use Wolf mixup a lot more cause I will contest that Valk has far and beyond the best mixup in the game. If I ever meet anyone who blocks a full meter Wolf mixup with highs, lows and command grabs, I'll quit him forever. Its impossible to block it all cause of how fast it is but because its so hard to block, he doesn't much damage for it. He relies on solid oki and footsies damage. Not to mention Valk's pressure in the corner can be ridiculously hard to deal with if you don't have a reversal like Tager or Arakune. Also as for Valk's defense, if you play really aggressively, you'll hardly be in a defensive situation. Valk is meant to be pure, fucked up rush down that is just relentless and unforgiving. The risk/reward of mashing out of his pressure is pretty even cause if you mess and he hits you, you eat shit. You hit him and get him in a reset, he'll eat shit. Total give and take. I'm 100% convinced he will be A tier, hes a solid character who has trouble on defense. Hes the same as Bang just minus the Nails and add the Wolf.
-
I'd put Valk at a solid A Tier after all is figured out. Hes got probably the best footsies in the game only rivaled by Litchi and Ragna, His mixup once you work the Wolf in becomes hands down the strongest in the game. In the corner, his pressure with 6B and 6C become nearly unbeatable and everything ends in a guard crush. Wolf helps very much with Zoning assuming you're patient about it. Valk's only REAL downside is he has trouble on defense against characters who have strong pressure like Bang or Makoto or Noel. 6A yielding a higher reward makes the risk worth taking more often to help with that though. So all in all, he has no fatal flaws that can be abused. Hes still a very strong character overall and him getting his damage reduced does not mean hes gonna be bad despite what some may think.
-
I think its more they're trying to decide how well everyone else's defence can cover Valk's offensive power. With the buffs to character's like Rachel and Tager, Valk's matchups against them has evened out. Tager now has options to deal with Valk's offensive bullshit and Rachel as better zoning strength to keep him at bay. So as he gets more even matchups as others are starting to show signs of having good matchups, he'll slowly drop in tier even if he has no legit bad matchups.
-
Your first combo is the highest I've seen. I made a 10k combo that topped out at about 10200 but I never tried to find one that ended in double super since thats ridiculously hard to do. In practical terms, Valk can actually do 8k in a single combo that he builds his own meter for 2nd combo is just plain awesome :3
-
If you're having an issue with [W]j.B>j.B>Land>5B, you can try and put a small delay in between the first and second j.B. this means you'll land and they'll be in hitstun a bit longer so you can actually delay the 5B which makes the jump cancel into whichever follow up a lot easier. You also need to pay attention to height when doing that as if you're too high, you can't make it work. Thats the biggest reason to always use [W]j.236A>j.236B as j.236B has a LOT more untechable time and you can delay the 5C to follow up by quite a bit to make everything work. Start the 5C>j.B>j.B so when you hit the first j.B, their level with the Wolf and then the 2nd one will hit just a bit above the Wolf.

I second this, I'll team up with Ernest for NBA Jam again :3 So fucking hype. -
Its a really really really REALLY fucking annoying link. You have to delay the j.B by just a bit to make like the ass part of the hitbox hit the opponent and then pray that you fall far enough for the j.A to hit before landing. One thing you could try, early in combos, [W]j.A>Land>D>[H]2C will work too since 2C isn't all that much slower. You could try that since the vertical hitbox on it is just astounding. BUT honestly if you hit a CH 236C, 6D Cancel and link into [W]j.236A and go from there. Much easier, you don't lose much damage and it pretty much guarantees corner carry. Adn the best part about it is that since CH 236C forces ground tech, you don't have to worry about some bullshit pickup off the 9D if you hit it as an AA.

Safe bet would be to bring ALL of them :3 -
Double Sturm almost never works. Proration of everything up to the last hit is terrible. Also I believe Sturm Wolf>TK Konig Flug is character specific and not really worth it in the end given you only get 1000 extra damage Also incredibly impractical to be in a situation where you have a 100 Heat and WON'T kill them with just the combo into Sturm Wolf. And for a 2A combo, no need to spend meter for 5700 when he can get 5400 meterless for it in the corner. Midscreen though his 2A doesn't get you much of anything even if you're at 2C range. But in the corner, basic combo builds the 50 meter for his Konig Flug at the end so might as well just do that instead of spending an extra 50 for 300 more damage. Also note that it is insanely hard to make all the hits of Sturm Wolf connect if you have a 2A starter. 2A>2C>6B>3C>2C>6C>2C>j.214B>2D>[W]236B>j.236A>j.236B>C>j.B>j.B>Land>5B>JC>j.AAA>DJC>D>[H]j.C>Konig Flug 5400 damage meterless.

Theres a better corner combo that is waaaaaay easier and it'll end in Sturm Wolf for almost 8k.

Valk/Litchi is probably 6-4 Litchi. Valk can match her range but the biggest problem is that Litchi has better defensive options. And tack onto that Litchi's INSANE offensive power, you need to hit her first and play it smart. Its hard, but Valk probably has the best matchup against her aside from Tao since he can kill her in literally 2 combos. Biggest thing to pay attention to is if she doesn't have her staff, go fucking nuts with your rushdown. The staff is her only way out of cause of her DP. No staff=No DP so Wolf up and get in. But defensively for Valk, best advice is don't get into a situation where you have to block. Sounds hard, but its the best option. Play footsies instead of Block/Punish. Both confirm into big damage even at max range so the Risk/Reward is equally high for both characters

If I recall correctly, we're just trying to decide between Eudamonia or SJSU. -
4.5k for 100 meter is a huge waste. You'd be much better off getting the 2k combo into a reset. Why would you ever end a combo that CAN'T kill with a Super???
