The point of 5B is not to end on that normal, but rather the fact that you can cancel into everything from there. If you're looking for airtight safe stuff, ending in 2B or 2C is safe but won't accomplish much seeing how much pushback you generate and how Noel's stagger pressure is kinda bad these days. If the opponent blocks 2B 6A 5B, that was the safe part but now it's over and you need to commit to something. Trying to get out of a blockstring safely this early on goes against what Noel is supposed to do which is work hard and make the guy block so you can do drive strings that lose to some things, but beat other things and offer good combo and knockdown conversion. What I'm trying to say is, most of the time if you're getting blown up for something with Noel during your pressure, well good news is you probably had an option that beats what the other guy did, cleanly, and now you can try that next time. I feel exactly the same way. 22C is one of those things that's getting buffed (hitstop goes from 0f to 6f from what I read), so there's that. However I don't think there's any change to the 3C 22C window, which is a shame because I am really bad at it and I think it's really stupid (because I'm really bad at it).

On many characters you can also launch grounded opponents with 6A and a gatling into 5B will hit them as they go up, making 6A much less of a commitment. A string as simple as 2B 6A 5B can be done on autopilot and hitconfirmed with no effort whatsoever into sj.C j.D combo, and if it's blocked from 5B you still have most of your pressure/mixup tools left. If find this to be especially useful in situations where a kinda meaty 2B is the most you'll get, like after a midscreen 22B dash up crossunder their neutral tech, or the midscreen "fake combo drop" d.6B 214D where you end up with a bit of frame advantage over people who instinctively tech and mash. I didn't test this extensively though, from recent memory I know it whiffs on Bang but hits a few other characters.

When you're just starting out, you can pretty much learn the basic framework combo and go for that even if it's not optimal. You'll have plenty of time to work on that later. Start with learning a very basic combo ending sequence, and then find ways to go into that. For example: Combo ender j.D d.6B d.5C d.6B d.236D Add a d.2D between j.D and the first d.6B to switch sides for potential positional advantage. In the corner most of the time you can add "6C (2-hits) 6B 22B" as they wallsplat. Combo starter examples - (5A/2A) 5B 5C 236C RC dash 5B sj.C j.D ender --> You can add filler normals for confirming at the beginning, this is to burn meter and convert a random hit into somewhat better damage - (5A/2A) 2B/5B 6A sj.C j.D ender --> Raw starter into launcher, you need to start this close, keep in mind 6A can't be jump cancelled on block so if that happens cancel into another normal to stay safe and keep up the pressure, like 5B or whatever really - (on a crouching opponent) (5A/2A) 5B 5C 3C 22C~66 6C j.D ender --> Noel can only combo into her sweep on a crouching opponent, this is a good meterless confirm - (overhead starter) 6B 5D d.5C d.6C d.6A d.5B 236A dash 5B sj.C j.D ender --> The "d.5C d.6C" part can be dropped or replaced with whatever combos in drive, the point is from drive you need to d.6A to launch them and d.5B to wallslam and hit with 236A - Counter Hit 5B/5C 5D d.6A d.5B 236A dash 5B sj.C j.D ender --> Convert random poking into good damage, if the poke was not a counter hit you can do something like 5D d.6A d.5B d.6A d.5B d.236D and keep it mostly safe - Air-to-air Counter Hit j.C land 5B sj.C j.D ender --> This sounds stupid but it can happen a lot if you jump around pressing j.C (don't do this too much against characters with actual anti-airs) - Grab 214A 2B/5B 5C sj.C j.D ender --> 2B pickup is easier but sacrifices damage, this also works on a raw 214A for better damage but it takes balls and a good read - Airgrab land 2B/5B 5C sj.C j.D ender --> same deal as the ground grab - Counter Hit 5C/6C(1-hit) 214A 2B/5B 5C sj.C j.D ender --> this is your combo in guaranteed punish situations (read: when you block a dragon punch), use 6C instead of 5C if the opponent is in crouching recovery state (ex: Jin C version DP) or if he is Azrael holding hold Growler Field like a douche. NOTE: If you hit the opponent standing and can't hitconfirm into 6A immediately, your combo really will pretty much be ABC 236C. Which is why most of the times people go for reset attempts, say with a mixup or with a pressure reset. OTHER NOTE: Combos with d.5B wallslam into 236A obviously don't work near or in the corner. There are better combos than that in the corner anyway, but this goes beyond the simplification process I was going for. Refer to the first post of the thread for actual corner combos. I feel like I've covered most common situations, which means this is now seventeen thousand words long. Oh well. I simply can't resist writing questionably helpful walls of text.

Ou celui qui sera pas là parce qu'il est trop occupé à faire de l'argent tout le temps et donc être trop épuisé pour venir. By the way, I totally forgot to bring this up: I have an extra Gamecube controller in my bag from Gore. It's the half purple, half clear plastic kind. I'm also down my PS3 controller power cord, in case someone found himself with one too many. -

EDIT: Let it be known that this post is a reply to DerQ being confused and now he deleted his post so everyone is even more confused. My ride is planning on eating in Chambly while waiting for the roads to clear up somewhat. The plan we have right now is to leave at like 6:30PM, thus we'd be there around 8PM (Gab Standard Time). If you do get groceries, good for me, I'll just get there and sit down and never get back up, but if you don't we can take care of it. As for ~gaming setups~, I'm bringing my stuff and I don't see why we wouldn't also bring Brice's. Someone remind me to go fetch the mahjong set. I got dem Aladdin's, don't worry guys. -

Crisse les gars c'est parce que c'était supposé être ma job d'écrire des murs de texte. Je ferme mon tab de dustloop et oublie de le ré-ouvrir pendant quelques jours, et c'est ça qui se passe? On an unrelated note, since I'm just now catching up on the thread... Sorry to hear about all that, Blade. I'd like to make the same offer DerQ did. There's nothing like a little Ky on Sol heated action to fire up one's tamashii, wouldn't you say? -

http://gamesdonequick.com/ http://gamesdonequick.com/schedule As usual, speedrun marathon in order to raise money for cancer prevention charities. This has already started and will last until Saturday. I knew getting a job was a bad idea. -
It is, however, +1 million frames on block if he did the ground version. Considering it has an awfully long startup, it's entirely possible to 6A Ragna out of Blood Scythe on reaction pretty much everytime when you get the hang of it, which would be a very good idea unless you want him to reset his pressure all the time. As for other matchup tips... Footsies are hard, that's pretty much the point of Ragna. Try and play a little more reactive than Noel-usual at times, by anti airing poorly spaced approaches, smacking him with 5B if he tries to run in deeper than his own 5B range, etc. Getting in air-to-air can be hard because Ragna jC is still huge, but if you can get the timing of your opponent's swinging right, airdashing in with jC can net you a block into pressure, or a CH into combo (land 5B sjc jC jD). Or a non-CH into fuck-what-do-I-do air reset. Also, this isn't really an advantage, but... Ragna has a DP. Be wary of that and adapt your pressure accordingly. Okizeme 4D is the most obvious one, it will beat out Inferno Divider if timed correctly. This is especially useful in situations where Ragna has 50 heat and you're very near to him, because he sees his DP as a safe option because he can RC, but 4D makes it whiff and grants you a combo. The Ragna needs a very hard read to beat this, and the result will look very stupid if you simply attacked meaty. You also need to be wary of getting too fancy in blockstings, including drive strings. If you do snuff out and block a DP, be sure to know your punish combo (5C 214A into stuff, please refer to combo thread~)

Tabarnaque. As things stand right now, I can't make it to the event I'm organizing without, y'know, risking my life. So uh yeah I'm no longer running this. Have no fear, though, as others have already said they'd run the bracket if I can't make it, so the event itself will still happen. Sorry about this, guys (Nedel je sais pas comment et quand tu planifiais venir mais plz don't die)

Monthly tournament announcement thread is up. This is all Pedro's fault. http://www.dustloop.com/forums/showthread.php?18668-Dec-22-2013-December-Monthly-Mashfest-Montreal-Canada -
Where : Foonzo (1245 rue Drummond, Montreal) When : Sunday December 22nd - Venue opens at 4PM, tournaments start around 5:30-6PM. (let us know if you're going to be late!) Stream : www.twitch.tv/bibiquadium Venue Fee : Just make sure you buy some food or drinks! Main Events : Blazblue : Chronophantasma ~Subs Only~ Double Elimination, 2 out of 3 matches Free entry, special mystery prize for the winner. I honestly don't know what this is, Bibiquadium teased at having something good. Guilty Gear XX Accent Core Plus R ~Subs Only~ Double Elimination, 2 out of 3 matches Free entry, winner gets a drink from me I guess What Do You Mean Subs Only So here's the deal. A lot of people have been busy with school or work in the past few weeks, and they're probably gonna be kinda rusty this coming weekend. They also may be inclined to drink and celebrate exams being over. I don't feel like we should really run a serious tourney with an entry fee in these circumstances, so this is free entry, and while we're at it we'll be using a silly ruleset. The rules are simple. Before every match, at character select screen, you may name one character. Your opponent cannot select this character. The character you ban can change during the set, as you select your ban every time the character select screen comes back up. If you change your ban, the old ban wears off. (in short, only 1 character is banned for each player at a given moment) That's it. We are now officially e-sports. Questions? But what if I want to play the character I know how to play? Trick your opponent into thinking you switched to playing Kokonoe fulltime. If that fails, play some casuals! We can always try and run a side event later on with standard rulesets if there is enough demand. Like if some people from out of town actually make it over and want to take this seriously, I dunno. Now I have to learn a sub QQ Isn't this an opportunity to try something new? At the end of it, you take this event as seriously as you feel like it. Learn a BnB and go to town, who knows, you may have fun! Won't this degenerate into Ragna mirrors all night long? Yes it will! (It probably won't. But then again we've been wanting to run a Ragna Only Tourney since the end of Extend, so hey, there you go.) What if I don't know what my opponent's main character is? Take a guess based on superfluous information! It's gonna be hilarious I tell you. There is also the option of asking around frantically when your match is called. If I'm around I'll tell you. I may lie. I, too, would prefer if there were more setups and thus the possibility of running sets as opposed to having a rotation. I can bring a setup whenever I'm over (that is to say, Sundays only), because I'm always coming by car, but there probably aren't a lot more people who can do so. I was also led to believe that, even if we do have more setups on hand, having the space for them was a problem. Foonzo needs to have the space for other customers that aren't from our community, and so we can't always just spill out and take all the tables. -

Step one to getting a better standing: come to the tournament to begin with. shots firedddd ooooohh -
Thanks! I tested these, but it brought up another problem. My dream setup was to go for an ender like "6C(2)" j2C j4D (whiff) [stuff]", where [stuff] is usually "d.6D", "d.6B", "Assault Through RC" or "d.5A (whiff) Spring Raid RC". As you can see this is supposed to have answers to varying degrees of respect from the opponent. I wanted to whiff j4D because it doesn't do much and go into the mixup itself ASAP... but even if I hit with d.6B I am now not pushing the opponent far enough because of the whiff on the j4D. It does work on characters that have easy 236A --> 665B link timings (ex: Tager), but not on characters with tight links (ex: Rachel). I guess I can't have everything all the time. It WAS a rather gimmicky setup idea to begin with... Note to self: Do "6C(2), jump cancel, OD activate, swear audibly to lure opponent into thinking this was a mistake, j4D into gimmicks". Doing it with OD has the advantage of both SR and AT getting meterless followups.
