Montreal: Le Thread Generale Pour Weeaboo Fighters

Really though, you don't need to hold back from coming just so you can train up before. I mean we pretty much have people on all skill levels across many games, and even if there IS a skill disparity most of us don't mind playing anyway. For example, a common setup at Foonzo will have a console with more than two players on it with a rotation so the winner stays on. Everybody gets a shot in due time, so absolutely no one will begrudge you for playing when it's your turn. In the meantime you can observe and learn a lot more that you would about the game than by staying at home. Actual feedback from the people you play goes a loooong way compared to training mode. (disclaimer: you do need to train up on combos in-between if you lack in those areas, but that can come later, and people will be able to direct you towards the appropriate resources) Like, OK, let's give an example. The first time I went was in january last year. BlazBlue CS Extend had just come out in Japan but I wasn't dedicated enough to import it like the local guys did, so I went and played a game I did not even know how to play. But who cares? General consensus was people were happy to see a new member and I had fun. So, this is your decision, but I'd rather you come than stay at home because you're intimidated or whatever. -

You were lured into thinking we played games, but actually all we ever do is drink soda and make donation drives so people can come over and trashtalk our sodas. SORRY. Meetups are tuesday, thursday and sunday, with a clearly superior amount of people on thursday and not very many on tuesdays. Opening hours are on Foonzo's official site, but people tend not to arrive right when it opens so you may need to plan this out specifically with people if you want to not be forever alone. You can always just come over on http://www.sankishin.com/board/index.php and register, allowing you to use the board mini-chat at the bottom of the screen and ask people directly in real time. -

*is sipping a Mountain Dew AT THE VERY MOMENT* Do be aware that we only have the regular version up here. That is to say, according to my bottle, Attaque d'Agrumes flavor. No one calls it that but we really should! -

Tellement malin. -
I am so tired blargh. Not that this kind thing will stop me from writing walls of text. Shoutouts to: Big E and TSB and whoever it was that ran the anime setup in the main room, and anyone else who helped out making this event so awesome. You guys get shit done and we appreciate it. Everyone who came to our room to press buttons, these casuals may even be better than the actual tourney. TD for being an all around nice guy and playing fun games with me in BB and generally showcasing his strong understanding of the game. It was a pleasure having you over, no bad surprises on that part. DC being hilariously drunk and unable to understand basic combo notations when I asked you a question as Official Noel Moderator. My stuttery french-y english accent probably didn't help but COME ON step it up senpai. (sober up senpai?) SKD becoming legit e-sports while drunk in our room money matching a guy for ??? dollars. Also the couple of games we played were fun and congrats on winning stuff. brkrdave for deflating and screwing all over the place. This may or may not have been phrased in a way that sounds incredibly suspicious. Good job on showing east coast who's BOSS (disclaimer: Canada and by extension Quebec doesn't care about coast rivalries we're basically north coast). Come over to MAD, dude! It's not like Montreal is all the way across the continent or anything like that.......... LK for generally being a badass but then again you didn't win SHIT so who cares. Wait maybe Melty I actually don't know how that ended. I am basing this commentary on my understanding of your quality standards, imo I secretly think youdabess. Stickbug and Biscuits and DaiAndOh for bringing the HYPE over to our room and being COOL DUDES and then security happened Bill and Ryan for coming down, even though we didn't interact much in the end. Still cool to see CANADA level up and care about stuff. See you guys around. VR Raiden for a good match on stream. It means something that the one game I won happened to be when I stopped trying to be skilled so I couldn't be out-skilled anymore. Oooh yeah. ehrik and Miller for representing Yosuke and being waaaaay better than I am and reminding me why that character is so fun to play. I will now strive to be the best east coast Yosuke too. Anyone else I played in tournament, things went as expected I guess and it was ran well so I didn't feel robbed or anything (but why did I get SKD first round in BB whyyyyy) That guy I played in Melty casuals for thrilling Kishima Kouma mirror matches. Both of us going straight to H-Kouma at character select? Glorious. How does that even happen. That other guy I played Sunday on our on-the-floor-ghetto-Melty-Blood-setup. Love the Kurisu stick, hate the Mech, ggs. Ma homies from MTL (even though I'm not really from MTL who am I kidding). 'Twas a really fun trip, but let's not get sappy I mean I like you guys all the time ANYWAYS. And now for situational inside jokes. Shoutouts to AMERICA being the all around joke theme of the weekend. America is so American sometimes, you local guys can't even realize. Shoutouts to flags, and how in the case where a real flag cannot be supplied it seems as though a painting of a flag is also accepted Shoutouts to bacon cheeseburger pizza what the christ Shoutouts to different flavors of Mountain Dew Shoutouts to 3 years old Grape Fanta from a vending machine Shoutouts to the Mug button on another machine handing out Barq's at random intervals Shoutouts to lottery ticket vending machines, FREEDOM more like giving no fucks about your children THINK OF THE CHILDREN GUYS Shoutouts to American sized Nerds candy packages for like three bucks, ten hours of chugging that shit and I still have some left Shoutouts to KOF-style Guilty Gear. Does Zappa keep his orbs between rounds?? The mystery will never be solved. Shoutouts to shouting over the noise all weekend now I have no voice Shoutouts to 8 hour drives Shoutouts to the traditionnal car ride Tank a capella rendition Also shoutouts to the Real Folk Blues, it wasn't as hype as Tank obviously but it definitely was the HONTOU NO Oh yeah and the Baccano song but that matchup is way harder, need more grinding Shoutouts to talking about Fire Emblem for hours while having the game on my lap but not having started it yet ok i think thats it

'Twas a cool night. -

That's weird, I don't get that message. One might wonder why you do, though. Do ho ho ho ho. (ok that's not really accurate because kirbster is pretty much the man at not being a scrub but the call had to be made, it was just... so obvious...) -

Aaaaaand I'm pretty sure I've never played any of those guys in Persona. Goddammit guys stop having a scene and having fun behind my back!! -

You're not CHOOSING not to go, though. You're already busy that day, tough luck. As a wise and venerable japanese sensei once said: It can't be helped. -

This Ottawa tourney sounds like a pretty great idea. All the better if Toronto people make it, since the location makes for a sort of middle ground for the biggest scenes in Canada. (What, there are other provinces? Nonsense!) On a personnal level I don't know if I'm free that weekend, but I will definitely go if I can. I will also frown a lot in the general direction of MTL tourney-going people if they choose not to go because this is a really nice initiative and we should all support it! Yaaaay! -

Get kinda hype maybe.

DerQ, stealth MTL top player. -

So I was thinking, we're not organizing anything this sunday, right? If so, what better way to generate hype and to encourage people to put in some work than with GRUDGE MONEY MATCHES? Well ok there is no grudge involved I think we're all friends here but I still propose the following: I will take challengers for a mostly insignificant amount of money, like five or ten bucks or whatever. We'll run a set and people will be amazed at how much we prepared for this shit. It will be incredible. If Bibi can be there, we can even stream it and there will be so much more on the line now that the entire internet will know the outcome. Other (more skilled) players can join in on the fun and run other (actually interesting) matches! My intent on this is not to make money but rather to spark some action, so anyone who wants to be sponsored by my pocket change can have a go. I will however limit myself to games I actually have an idea how to play, so: BB, GG, P4U, Melty Blood, KoF13. This means HEY PEOPLE YOU SHOULD COME OVER ON SUNDAY AND PRESS BUTTONS. Edit: All of my winnings will be reinvested in nachos and I don't eat much so you can also consider this like giving to a charity that hands out nachos to the poor.
