Yeah, I definitely agree. That's exactly the sort of thing that would be a training mode glitch.

Eh, if it comes out early you still get stuffed, but it's worth trying. What you really have to watch out for with 2H is that it can hit you way before you're in range if you're trying to puffball from far away, and has a lot of active frames, so if you don't hit it, it will hit you once you're done being invincible. But in a neutral situation, FB puffball isn't that great an idea anyway. Axl's counter is 2F and can be done on reaction to the FB hiss thingy (Actually, our local slayer learned to SB that move by reacting to that thing) Uh... That's called not sucking. I've said it before and I'll say it again: Good Axls do not spam 5P. Er... I dunno where you're getting your information, but if you're thinking of IADing from neutral, there are a lot of things that can fuck you up. Also, 2H is not something any Axl would use as an AA option. And again, unless you have some way to make it look like you're IADing without IADing, this plan shouldn't work. 5H can be a ghetto AA if you start getting greedy, 2D shouldn't be used as a poke, jumping out is also an option (1fJ), but you're right, getting pressure is good. This is true.

Yep, that's been around awhile. It's a glitch that involves slashbacking Rashousen, which can only be done in the air. I'm not sure if it's training mode only, because I've never seen it actually happen in a match.

Bah. Music taste varies, whatever.

More to the point, HS EXE blockstrings don't really work without FRC, due to Axl's standing hitbox being too thin. Axl can poke out after the beast if he's blocking right. (Trying to beat it with housou EVERY time is bad, as Testament can just wait and smack you with something low while you're trying to do it.) And going for benten v. 6P can get you baited. Seriously, Axl isn't strong with reversals, so don't try to force it, especially against a character that shouldn't really be making you sweat too much (Unless you're marked, and then you should ESPECIALLY not do reversals)
-
... ... ... ... ... ... Epic.
-
Benten should work if you get the reversal timing right, as I don't THINK testament can put webs out where they'll hit lower-body, but it is definitely safer to just block.
-
I dunno man, I don't know you, so I can't say for sure, but the way you talk about it, it doesn't sound like you've played a good Axl, no offense. Every character in the game has something that'll beat 5P clean, and everyone in the game minus pot can IAD over 2P for painful air-to-ground combo starters. I can't tell you how many matchup threads I go into and see people talking about how X move beats the chains, so Axl's at a disadvantage. Meanwhile, Axl has plenty of ways to get rid of all your nets in the middle of a combo, not the least of which is just throwing some extra 2S-6Ks in to get some active frames out on the screen, or just cutting the combo short and going for knockdown/oki. So if he's getting hit by your nets mid-combo, he probably isn't paying a lot of attention to where the nets are in the first place. So my advice to your local Axl player: Don't throw random shit out, especially not long pokes (5P is a straightforward AA/anti-setup move, anyway. If your local Axl is throwing it out when no one's moving, he's got bad matchups all over, like I said before) and especially especially not counters (It's a pretty bad habit. I won't say I never do it, but you should really only be throwing those out on reaction, and then only the good one). Against testament specifically, he should just watch the screen. It's not that hard to keep track of the nets and trees, and Axl can deal with them just fine.
-
Good point. It has been to New Jersey, after all.
-
If you're watching for webs it isn't HARD... Just unlikely that the situation will come up.
-
Funny theory fighter thing: Testament's webs eat active frames, so the hit FRC on benten changes a bit. For one web it's about the same (still after the hitstop), but if you go through two webs with it, it becomes the same as the whiff timing, since the active frames at frames 5 and 6 are getting eaten, so you're hitting with frame 7 (IE FRC frame 1).
-
If I'm reading the frame data right, it should actually be really easy to stagger. Only level 3, tons of recovery, and Fafnir takes 10F. Am I missing something, or should l1BHB-->Fafnir just not work on people with working left arms?
-
Actually, the three I meant were 2H, 3P, and 6H. 2H and 3P you can do on reaction, no problem. 6H I've done fairly well with, but I doubt I could throw it in time if I weren't looking for the STBT. 3P is safe as hell to throw out even if you're just fishing, so I could see it stuffing the first FRC point just on that, but I don't think it'll technically hit before the first FRC on reaction (Oh well, you're blocking and wasted 25% meter, if you can react that fast .) 3P and 6H (and 2H too but only if you can't mash out) cause lots and lots of painful damage for I-No. There's also the fourth option, 2K, which is fastest and can be thrown very late (but still before FRC 2), but since it prorates and doesn't do much damage and requires an FRC to launch, it's not really worth mentioning among the others.
-
Er, this is probably well known and used, or just not that useful... But I like to use 5H-6K-5H in blockstrings sometimes to avoid 6H getting IB'd/Slashbacked. If you get a sense for when an opponent will get greedy and try to SB 6H, you can trip them up for a combo that way and still have your blockstring if they don't do it.
-
Eh, I think a lot of characters have pretty nifty solutions to STBT, but I don't purport to know. What I do know is that Axl has at least three: two he can do on reaction, both of which can be big free damage, one of which is very safe to try in any situation (And will hit before the FRC point).
-
Yeah, pretty much. It's only really viable against characters without a good invincible reversal.
-
Uh, not 2H-6H, just 2H as a poke as oki. The rest of your paragraph is irrelevant: This isn't possible. 2H does not special cancel. True... to an extent. Some blockstrings are solid. Rensen is lv. 5. DP IS a bait. Also you can react to dandies pretty well. Nah, that's the best way to play Axl.
-
Well, even a perfect meaty can't block wing super. 6H has exactly 9 frames of recovery, so at perfect meaty timing, it's still 10 frames between the startup of any reversal and Axl being neutral. Wing super has 7 startup. Rensen, meanwhile, has 12 frames of startup. You could hit K dandy, but not P dandy. f.S would come out just barely in time to tie with Pilebunker. Probably 5K or 2K would be a good option in that situation, but it's tight for sure.

Revised Faust Variant: TKB --> c.S, j.H, j.D, Bomber --> (j.D, Bomber) x 2) --> 2S, j.D, Bomber, Rensen, 2 (270. 1 Whole extra damage from the may variant. YAY!)
-
Eh, I definitely can't get the bridget variant after a 6K.
-
Man do I hate Order Sol. I only pulled this off once, but... TKB --> c.S, j.D, Bomber --> (j.D, Bomber) x 2 --> TKB, Rensen (242).
-
I played with that a little, but for the most part it doesn't seem worth it. If it works on some characters, that's fine, but it will push them farther out most of the time, making good combos not work. That... and I can't see how it does extra damage. I just got 252 (same damage) from the Slayer version, and it seems to only be because it somehow caused the rensen followup to connect with more hits, but the move itself does less than c.S, and neither prorates...
-
Bridget Variant: TKB --> c.S, j.D, Bomber --> (j.H, j.D, Bomber) x 2 rensen, 2. (273 damage) Testament Variant: TKB --> c.S, j.H, j.D, Bomber --> j.H, j.D, Bomber --> 2S, j.H, j.D, Bomber, rensen, 2 (Something in the 260-270 range, I forget)
-
Well, while it's true that most combos are not going to start with Rensen FRC, getting the occasional standalone Rensen works for punishing things (Especially stuff that's fast and has selective invincibility, like upper body or feet only), since it's a projectile, especially if you can do running rensen FRC, and it's as good a way as any to start a combo. Harder to hitconfirm, though.
