use the connectivity feature of the multimeter. it either beeps, shows you zeroes or something to show that you're connected

btw this stick is like an EARLY round 1 stick, its not like the one you have with the same PCB as an SE go back to the dual mod of the SE that i did and you can see that i did the exact same thing for all of the points, just with bigger wires. What you do is tin your wire and your iron, put your wire on the pin and heat up the solder in the pin and wire. This will be enough to join the two together for a connection.

here dual mod pics for hype its a ps3 TE so it was a bitch to mod and he still needs to give me the switch so i can make it switch between xbox and ps3 either way it'll be done tmr and i'll upload the finished set of images then for now make do with seeing the sexy piggyback wiring FYI: this wiring is done with 30awg Kynar wire and 4 conductor 24awg stranded rainbow wire which you can find at radioshack/circuit city http://s924.photobucket.com/albums/ad88/mr_mortified/PS3%20TE%20dual%20mod/

piggyback essentially means match the two connections together i.e. match ps3 buttons to xbox buttons (e.g. RB to R1) and match your 5V and GND

when i use the multimeter i only ever use it to test connectivity and very rarely voltage. if you want a better guide for sticks in general i think i sent you slagcoin before but i'll send it again http://www.slagcoin.com

keep trying it shoudl still be good if you test the gnd spot with another gnd pin just clean that pcb...

just go around it, take the knife and put it vertical and rotate the wire around the blade. It works just fine
