  3. Help, I think I just shot myself in the foot. I realized I had to conform to one of japan's arcade button configs because I wasn't able to play right when the time did came around. As time passed getting used to config, P S D K H I realized that it was hard as fuck to piano 623K,K yrc with it. I could just macro PKSH on another button to band aid fix it but it won't do me any good if I play on an arcade again. So do you guys suggest I go fuck it and change my config again to another arcade default that is easier to piano this 623K? Did any of you went with a specific config just for johnny?

  5. Dotnova gave me a lot of input on this thread on how to correct my play and how to properly approach the matchup. Vid is worth a look for reference to his notes if you could stomach how confused I was on those vids. Thankfully I now get good results whenever I play against that sol offline and I'm at lvl19 on the jp server (1-3f latency) if anyone cares about that. http://www.dustloop.com/forums/index.php?/forums/topic/10865-potemkin-video-critique-thread-how-do-i-hold-these-busters/ I can't think of times where it was ever a good idea to abare sol with standing or crouching jabs. You should respect his normals then prepare for an answer when he commits to something. Getting safejump OS down perfectly will make your life in this matchup much easier. Other than that, your damage is going to come from reactive stuff like punishing volcanic. Well if you want some busters, I usually rob sols online/offline when I instant block bandit bringer. I haven't tested if it's guranteed because I've had loonies that successfully volcanic or backdash after bringer gets IB-ed but in most cases where pot IBs it while sol is pretty high midair, I'm confident it will work. I guess one very common potbuster trick while on the defense that you can do is after a backdash but don't rely on it too much.

  7. I play pot. I realized that slayers are generally forced to do 5a>5b into mappa or whatever. I seriously can't remember exactly how did taka skin me alive when he visited the philippines. What did annoy me / worked well was him frequently iad-ing air gatlings which conditioned me to 6p them then dying like a dog.
  8. You can just do some maximum distance hammerfall breaks to get into position. The autoguard will render you immune to the rifle shot.
  9. When she has both swords and is far away, always be ready to flick. I dont know if you're aware but ram can use the other slower sword summon unless it's already out in the screen so you can easily get used to the timing. Once she has a sword out, I recommend using 5P or j.P to put them out of the way and start chasing after ram during their downtime. Oh wait sorry didn't read. As for dealing with ram's j.H, you should backdash or blitz. Blocking it sucks ass because she can cancel it into that mid hitting move that has +frames. Ideally for me, I would play safe until I get opportunities like: 1) a successful flick that will forces her to do stuff 2) IBing dauro 3) a life lead so that she is forced to do high risk crap like instant airdashing, attacking before the sword summon, 5D, etc

Personal reminders for pot vs venom Scenario 1: venom random gatling into carcass ride I guess the best solution for this is to flick the ball then 2D. Megafisting is the desperate option because it doesnt guarantee anything on hit unless i magically have 50 tension in this matchup. I guess what I'll be doing later is set venom to do carcass then 6P at different timings. With that, I'll try different ways jumping over the ball then land with a j.H. Either double jumping to avoid 6H or doing whiff j.D, yrc, j.H which fab did once in a vid against sanma. Scenario 2: best way to oki if you have 25 tension? I just recently learned to use yrc to confirm the opponent's wakeup option. Since venom doesn't have defensive options other than backdash and blitz, I figure I should just go ham with yrc and raise my chances of getting damage done for every knockdown I score. What I'm figuring out now is what's the best option if you caught sight of a backdash. I guess i should keep a mindset of doing yrc, 5K into whatever and only react with 2C if i spotted a blitz. Though I wonder if there's practicality in trying to pot bust the short recovery of venom's backdash. will rant more later Scenario 3:

While practicing combos with carl, I realized that these 2 produce the same damage 1) 5BB 623C 2) 5B2B6B 623C Is there a general rule in avoiding certain normals when combofilling realized only last night that 2B still causes damage reduction even if it's not a starter. So if you can help it, it's recommended to not insert A's and 2Bs in your combo?
  16. Oh, my bad then. Well no wonder my partner was able to backdash it once out of a hundred times. I guess from now on I don't need to make my safejumps against zato super spot-on since the only things you're doing it for is against reversal gold burst and shark head super which both have bad startups.

I didn't realize all this time that 2P does NOT erase puddles. -zato's giant shark head super is not pot buster invul -zato does not have enough invul frames on his backdash against safejump S or H if you time it properly. Once you see eddie turning into a landmine, expect to get hit by an unblockable setup when it goes off. Thankfully the zato you're playing against is not ogawa and there's a chance he can fuck up executing it 1) The 1st hit of eddie's mine is the only low hit. You can expect / guess to either block high then immediately low or vice versa 2) You sometimes have the opportunity to jump and block both attacks in midair if you spotted eddie turning into a mine too late if you recognize the setup. 3) lel wakeup reversal mirror super if you have that much meter
  18. Got 4th place in a local tourney filled with players heading to thailand for SEAM. Got eliminated by consistent top 3 players that main venom and zato. Any suggestions on how to deal with venom's repeated (P-ball > 2S) in the corner? I guess I'll lab it later when I get home and post results. It's particularly effective vs characters like pot, slayer, and maybe bedman since I was forced to block it like 4-5 times even if I FD'ed it.
  19. Just checking, you can't throw a guy while he's stunned by blitz but you can throw a guy if he whiffs blitz, right? So a guy can blitzback to eliminate his stunstate only to be throwable?
  20. I'm having difficulty understanding FAB's main choice of 6H against backdashes. I played around with it and I realized that it never connects because it's so telegraphed. You can just block after the backdash. Comparing this to an OS 2P to pick up airborne opponents or that guaranteed OS pot bust if you get the timing down is pretty odd. But then again he's FAB, what do?
  21. Has anyone yet labbed how nirvana now behaves in BBCEX? Which moves still push through if carl is blocking? Does conbrio do this? Which moves other than supers still continue doing it's thing if carl blocks or gets hit?
  22. Thanks, I'll keep what you all said in mind. Actually I've been seeing jp players like ragna or jin run in, 2A, whiff 5A (since the guy blocking is crouching) then throw. Is this a common TRM setup by any chance?
  23. Sorry for the thread title. I don't really mean it and I just wanted them guaranteed replies. Actually, I'm having a lot of difficulty teching throws in bb. I couldn't understand why was I so free in getting thrown by anyone I play then I read just now that throw reject miss is actually a thing and I've been mashing throw escapes at certain intervals while in blockstun thinking it's okay like in street fighter 3rd strike. Is it right to assume that because of TRM, it's not safe to OS throw escapes? and are you really expected to escape on reaction while watching out for overheads or is it really a coinflip? Oh lol, throw beats strike. Need to keep that in mind.
  24. Thanks, guys. I was able to lab last night and yeah, an OS 2P snags people off the air. OS potbust also worked on elphelt but the timing is probably character specific. I'm documenting everything I did last night and I'll all more characters then I'll post it on the pot forums.
