Well, isn't that the general theme... sort of? If not replacing an Install(Tao, Bang), giving a taste of their Unlimited form(Hazama). I guess Ragna is a bit of both, actually.

Uhm, you guys talking about Unlimited Ragna in CS2...? Last I checked Unlimited Ragna was unchanged from CS -> CS2. And it wasn't that long ago.

I feel for you. First Video; oh shit it's RobFig i have that guy on my friends list on PSN. Otherwise, dat frametrap. I guess it's doable, but knowing my group they'd frown on going on anything even that risky. I could fuck that up easily. Second; All dem Astrals, lol Third; After Gadget Finger. Never even had a chance for that before, but it seems like something actually doable. Overall, I just want to tack that shit on at the end of a combo most; and consistently. But I feel like it's too much to go for it unless the opportunity totally presents itself. Like, hell, corner grab combo stunted to like, "B+C, 5C, 5D(2), 2141236C". But you can't do like a 6k combo into it, I think, because the highest their HP can be to combo into an Astral is 35%. It gives a lot of room for short combos like that, but it's harder to throw it as a replacement for Hell's Fang/CID CU 3C, because "B+C, 5C, 5D(1), 214D, 5C((H)JC), etc.,etc.," Because damage.

Does anyone here ever try to end a combo with Black Onslaught? No, I shouldn't even say try; but does anyone go for it, if presented with an easy chance to? Enemy has no bursts, you hit with 5D in the corner while they're airborne, Astral OK otherwise. Do you go for it? ADDENDUM: I guess it might not be exactly *combo* discussion, but I'm not asking if you try to use it randomly in pressure or on wake-up or something.

Alright, thanks for the clarification, guys. The damange gain for hitting twice with DID is pretty negligible, so it's no big loss either way. And I guess I was originally wrong about my idea of how whiffs work. Going a bit off topic, when do we get to make BBCSex Combos topic?

In the case of the combo "6C, dc (dash) 6D, jc j.C, j.214C, 5D(1), 214D, 5C, 5D, 623D(1) -> 236C -> 236C, CU 3C" Can we put 22C or 214A -> 214D on the end of that? And for this; "4B+C, dash 5C, 5D (DC), 5C (HJC), j.C, j.D (JC), j.C, j.D, 623D -> 236C -> 214D" It's my understanding that "...(JC), j.C, 623D -> 236C -> 214D" works better because DID hits twice and does more damage, rather than hitting once after j.D. But does it still apply in a combo like this? Finally, a general question; whiffing j.D, or any move, in any combo, as any character, is such a move meant to enable the next move to follow, when it wouldn't be able to after the move previous to the whiff? ADDENDUM: Holy shit there isn't much posting going on in this thread, is there?

Quick General question, guys, about combos. What exactly constitutes "Practical"? Or is this perhaps better posted on the General Gameplay Discussion?

If you can manage to do it twice at the end, it's definitely better than Hell's Fang. It's quite a bit more work though.

So. I was watching some combo vids, some with Blood Kain. And it seems after the segment of, "623D -> 236C -> 214D, j.D", these videos tended to do j.214C, rather than j.214B -> 214D. Is that better in general?

I dunno, but I tested it on the standard air combo. 5B, 6A(JC), j.C, j.D(JC), j.C, 623D(2 hits) -> 236C -> 214D 5B, 6A(JC), j.C, j.D(JC), j.C, j.D, 623D(1 hits) -> 236C -> 214D Or maybe I didn't do the 5B at the start. But the 2 hits did like 18 more damage. I don't know how it'd factor into other combos though. -

Yeah, I figured. Only time will tell if I can get better at approaching. What about using Belial Edge for closing some distance out of the air? It's been sorta iffy in my experience, but I just wonder if I should maybe stop it before it becomes to habitual, in the opinion of others. -

Okay, I know Black Onslaught isn't a very practical move at all, pretty much a waste of heat, and all that, but are there ANY ways to combo into it? I remember in CS you could do it after Belial Edge... In CSII, I think you can do it after 5D, if they're in the air? *"they" being the opponent.

Having minimal experience with fighting games beforehand, I didn't really choose my main based on any technical things. I'd played Siegfried/Nightmare in SC... and I'd actually wager that's the only fighting game previously I'd played. Of course, after being introduced to BB during CT, and looking at the cast of BlazBlue(as characters, primarily), I came to the conclusion that Ragna would be my main. It followed that I actually rather like the majority of his moves just in appearance over anyone else's, though Hakumen is a close second. There's still no character that I would say is perfectly suited to my taste, stylistically, and probably won't be one like that. Also I would main Sol in GG, chosen in the same way, except that the only GG game I have is XXAC on the Wii... Needless to say I only play it a little, but I definitely know I would main Sol and sub Order-Sol if I ever played GG seriously as well.
