  1. Knowing the amount of money that goes into developing a single character for a fighting game, and the fact that ASW doesn't really do on-disc DLC, I don't have any problem with paying for new characters. It's a good way to expand the roster without having to wait a year or more for a new revision. I've got absolutely no problem with paying a little bit for extra content that was developed after a game's launch. There's a lot of iffy things going on with microtransactions, but that's not one of them.
  2. And because it wouldn't fit with the smilies, double posting... Sho Minazuki (Persona) Furious Action Izayoi --------------------- + Ura Izayoi ----------------- Jump + Skills Survival Knife ------------- or Hōzukizan: Senga ----------- or Hōzukizan: Shōga ----------- or during Hōzukizan: Senga Hōzukizan: Metsuga --------- or during Hōzukizan: Shōga Tsukuyomi ------------------ or Kyūma / Kyūketsu ----------- or SP Skills Rengoku no Tsubasa --------- or Awakened SP Skills Getsumen Kudaki ------------ or Mugen no Kiri -------------- or (Catch Move) Instant Kill Shinma Messatsu ------------ :d: + Notes: Izayoi (Waning Moon), Ura (Reverse), Hōzukizan (Collapsing Moon Slash), Senga (Flashing Fang), Shōga (Soaring Fang), Metsuga (Ruinous Fang), Tsukuyomi (Moon God), Kyūma (Spirit Drain), Kyūketsu (Life Drain), Rengoku no Tsubasa (Wings of Purgatory), Getsumen Kudaki (Lunar Surface Smash), Mugen no Kiri (Phantasmal Fog), Shinma Messatsu (God-Demon Annihilator)
  3. Guess I'm a few weeks late, then. That's when they got leaked. I'll go ahead and translate them, since I've got time and it's fun. The two versions of Sho are named differently... Solo version is "Sho Minazuki" (皆月翔) and Persona version is "SHO MINAZUKI" (ミナヅキ ショウ), for lack of a better way to translate the difference into English. In the trailer, they also have unique epithets: "The Lawbreaking Pun Machine" (掟破りの駄洒落マシーン) and "The Defaced Dark Messiah" (創面貌の黒き救世主) respectively. As already explained, the version without a Persona is called a "Solo Attacker Type" (本体攻撃タイプ) character, referring to the fact that he fights alone. A, B, and C are attacks and the D button triggers a unique "Dodge" (避け) ability which allows him to avoid attacks. Sho Minazuki (Solo) Furious Action Izayoi --------------------- + Ura Izayoi ----------------- Jump + Skills Survival Knife ------------- Charge , or or or Hōzukizan: Senga ----------- or Hōzukizan: Shōga ----------- or Hōzukizan: Metsuga --------- Jump or Kōsoku Idō ----------------- (Air OK) or SP Skills Engetsu Bōsō --------------- or Awakened SP Skills Getsumen Kudaki ------------ or Notes: Izayoi (Waning Moon), Ura (Reverse), Hōzukizan (Collapsing Moon Slash), Senga (Flashing Fang), Shōga (Soaring Fang), Metsuga (Ruinous Fang), Kōsoku Idō (High-Speed Movement), Engetsu Bōsō (Flaming Moon Rampage), Getsumen Kudaki (Lunar Surface Smash)
  4. I'm not a huge follower of the Persona series, but I was just looking at some of the P4U2 discussion on Japanese board. Were people in the West aware that Sho Minazuki's movelists got briefly leaked when they started testing the Player's Guild website? They've been taken down and password-protected, but they're still cached on google.
  5. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=p-zziXo75Vo A video of the iPhone version. Can clearly hear some of Holy Orders. Definitely a shame if it doesn't include the new vocal tracks that have been in the promotional videos, though.
  6. My best guess, based on the silhouette. A kid (?) in a bed that's been outfitted with some killer robot appendages. Edit: Also, I've updated the news thread with Zato's profile, movelist, etc.
  7. Updated with Zato-1, ????? (new character), and the confirmed seiyū for all the characters. Support for Aime cards will also begin from the third location test on, allowing players to upload their data to the server, however the Player's Guild website will not be available during this test. The data uploaded during the testing period will also be reset when the game officially launches. Edit: The latest issue of Dengeki PlayStation has revealed that the new character's name is Bedman, and that he's voiced by Hikaru Midorikawa.
  8. Bedman CV: Hikaru Midorikawa Pitiful. Abandon hope. Farewell. A boy who has slept through the heinous remodeling of his rollaway bed. Everything about him, from his origin and goals to his affiliation, is completely shrouded in mystery. Endowed with tremendous combat power, he displays this aptitude in battle by luring opponents into nightmares of his own creation. The reason for his continued slumber remains unknown... 9. Zato-1 CV: Takehito Koyasu Reality is a white canvas painted black... An assassin that fought using forbidden techniques to manipulate his shadow like a doppelganger. Though he once led the Assassins' Guild, the very darkness he tried to control eventually infected and killed him. It was apparantly then that the shade (Eddie) possessed his body. 10. It's just his regular winpose. ElvenShadow mentioned earlier that his ponytail can get knocked out and his hair will stay undone until the match is over.
  11. I'm not wrong in assuming that people will want to make avatars out of these, am I?
  12. This is purely speculation, but they might have also rushed the first three episodes to get the series on air before Chronophantasma went on sale. And, for what its worth, the anime did seem to contribute to a pretty big spike in sales compared to the previous entries in the series. As for a possible season 2, with only 12 episodes slated, I don't expect to see a direct continuation (which would be typical, if this were a typical 24-episode season), but they could always follow it up with another season or series in the spring or next fall. I'd love it if they did a 12-episode adaptation of the Phase novels next year, then an adaptation of Chronophantasma timed with the release of the next game, and then a finale season to cover the events of the final game. Definitely wishful thinking.
  13. It doesn't have anything else new about RCs.
  14. Changelog for the 2nd Location Test player manual: http://www.dustloop.com/forums/showthread.php?16461-Xrd-News-Thread/page3&p=1561419&viewfull=1#post1561419 TLDR: RC consumes either 25% or 50% of the Tension Gauge. Clash system reworked: "Normal Clash" → "Clash", "Repel" → gone, "Danger Time" is now random and can be rarely triggered by a Clash. Blitz Shield replaces the Repel scenario from the Clash system. Performed by pressing with any two buttons that aren't while standing, crouching, or jumping. Creates a brief shield that Repels an incoming enemy attack. Consumes 25% of the Tension Gauge.
  15. Updated with Faust, Slayer, and the movelists for Axl and I-No. 2nd Location Test Player Manual Changelog Basic Controls Typo correction: ":h:: Slash" → ":h:: Heavy Slash" Blitz Shield New defensive mechanic that replaces the Repel mechanic from the Clash system. It briefly creates a shield that will repel an incoming attack, creating a chance for a counterattack. Performed by pressing any two buttons that aren't while standing, crouching, or jumping. Does not work while defending. Consumes 25% of the Tension Gauge. Roman Cancel "*Consumes 50% of the Tension Gauge" → "*Consumes either 25% or 50% of the Tension Gauge" Clash The Clash system has been reworked: Normal Clash is now called Clash and simply negates both attacks. The Repel mechanic has been removed. See: Blitz Shield. Danger Time is now a random occurance that can rarely be triggered by a Clash. Also, Sin is finally learning how to read.
  18. Slayer CV: Iemasa Kayumi Let me teach you what fighting is... A vampiric gentleman with fighting skills that transcend those of mortals and immortals alike. He's dedicated to dandyism, and has therefore burdened himself with a fighting style that allows only his own body to be used as a weapon. His hobbies are reading haikus and people watching, and he takes interest in and favors remarkable human beings. He founded the Assassins' Guild long ago to ensure a steady supply of drinkable blood, but after meeting a woman named Sharon who would not die or become a vampire no matter how many times he drained her, he took her as his wife and used the opportunity to retire, ceding leadership to his colleague, Zato. After that he settled into a quiet and comfortable retirement free from mortal affairs, but upon sensing a disturbing vibe in the world, has decided to return to the battlefield once more. As an aside, though he frequently enters haiku contests under a secret pet name, he has never won a prize. He was once known as a great doctor, but a certain medical error turned him into a serial killer. Regretting his behavior, he now seeks atonement through countless good deeds, but still hides his true face beneath a paper bag of guilt. Though he's often misunderstood due to his strange appearance and behavior, he's actually a sensible man. 20. Some other details: There's a list with the title, release date, and platform of every Guilty Gear game. Guilty Gear Xrd has two entries, one listed as Arcade (Spring 2014) and the other as PlayStation 3 / PlayStation 4 (2014). There's a brief overview of the Guilty Gear storyline so far: The Second Sacred Order Selection Tournament (GG) Bounty at the Devil's Abode (GGX~GGAC+R) The Gear Disappearance Incident (GG2) It doesn't really delve into the plot, however. There's also a small glossary with known terms which does not appear to have any new information. Each playable character has one or two pages, with a small gallery of character art with voice actor data, their profile, a couple paragraphs of information which at a glance doesn't appear to have anything new, and a gallery showing either screenshots or endings from the various GG games, as well as a little bit of trivia about the character. There's one page covering the various sub-characters like That Man, Fanny, and Leopaldon. Guilty Gear Vastedge is not included. There are two pages devoted to Guilty Gear Xrd. The first page explains the new gameplay mechanics, the second page has character art and screenshots for each of the characters announced so far, along with a two sentence profile with the first sentence describing them and the second their playstyle. Sol: "An unrefined and taciturn bounty hunter." Ky: "The Kingdom of Illyria's first king." Millia: "A former assassin who left the Guild." May: "A young lady and member of the Jellyfish Pirates." Chipp: "A young ninja with dreams of becoming the president." Axl: "A timeslipper who has visited many eras." Potemkin: "A proud and noble soldier of Zepp." Venom: "Leader of the Assassins' Guild." I-No: "A sadistic bad girl." And that's about it for Guilty Gear stuff.
  21. Bumping the thread to summarize the new Guilty Gear short story in the Arc System Works 25th Anniversary Official Character Collection, titled The Unseen Sign. The story starts out some time after the events of Guilty Gear 2, which have come to be known as Baptism Thirteen. Ky is delivering a speech to an assembly in Illyria, during which he says he believes it's time to redefine the relationship between man and Gear and officially proposes that they explore a pathway to peaceful coexistence. It then cuts to the vaults beneath the Castle of Illyria, where Ky is talking to Dr. Paradigm. Ky wants Paradigm to be the representative for the Gears, though Paradigm is still unsure if humanity will ever be able to forgive the Gears, which were designed to destroy mankind, and notes that some are already calling for Ky to abdicate the throne. Ky says that he himself witnessed the Crusades, but now that the curse of Justice's control has been broken the Gears are free to pursue a life of peace. He says the Crusades are over and it's time for humanity to enter another Renaissance, explaining the capacity humans have for compassion, love, and forgiveness. He mentions the "Merciless Apocalypse," saying there are lurking threats and it's time for man and Gear to join hands and fight for the future. Paradigm is moved. Ky then raises his eyes to look upon a winged, female figure sealed in crystal. Paradigm informs Ky that he can't break the seal on his wife yet, and that decoding the incantation will take a while longer. Ky says, "Truly? Be patient for just a little longer, Dizzy...!" He gazes at her, and she seems to smile faintly. Elsewhere, Sol and Sin have set up camp for the night, and are sitting around a fire. Sol's eating some meat and reading a newspaper headline about a vicious group of Gears attacking Illyria. He says there's something suspicious going on. Sin asks what happened, and Sol tells him to try and read it as reading lesson. Sin enthusiastically opens the newpaper up completely and starts to read it. In short, it's misrepresenting Valentine's attack on Illyria as being the work of Gears, despite Paradigm and his pals risking their lives to protect the kingdom. He throws the paper into the fire. Sol explains that it's in response to Ky's proposal, and that even though there's still a lot of anti-Gear sentiment on the streets, he's popular and people trust him. He thinks that this is likely the Senate's way of trying to shift public opinion. Sin basically asks Sol the same thing Paradigm asked Ky... if it's possible for humans and Gears to coexist. Sol's response is to explain that Ky fought on the front lines during the Crusades, witnessed the fear and horror, and yet he's gotten past it, and that he and Sin's mother found happiness together. Laying down with a groan, looking up at the sky, and closing his eyes, Sol says, "... At least, I hope it is." Sin is surprised by the sentimentality and Sol angrily covers it up. Sol silently wonders what the Senate could be planning, and closes his eyes, but after a moment he suddenly opens them, feeling a strange, uncomfortable sensation. It's a sensation he felt several times before. He shakes his head. Sol mutters through gritted teeth, "...I thought I'd have more time... I wasn't expecting you to show up so soon... Valentine!" He then grasps his incomplete weapon, Junkard Dog, and stands up. To be continued in Guilty Gear Xrd: Sign. TLDR: Ky is trying to promote human/Gear coexistence, the Senate is trying to undermine him, the Maiden of the Grove is confirmed to be Dizzy but isn't ready to be unsealed, another Valentine has emerged, and Sol hasn't finished constructing his new weapon yet. Also, Sin is finally learning how to read.
  22. BlazBlue Chronophantasma: Story Maniacs — Material Collection II In other words, it's the console edition of the Chronophantasma Material Collection, since they already released one focusing on the arcade edition.
  23. Okay, skimming through faster... Makoto finds Tsubaki, who is like a puppet/mouthpiece for the Imperator, and they argue and fight. Kagura shows up and breaks up the fight after they get to 50% health. Cut to Ragna and Celica. He's unfriendly toward her, and despite being with Ragna again, she feels lonely because he doesn't know her. Rachel and Noel show up and Rachel prepares to explain the world and the Chronophantasma. It's told through the following story: There was a girl trapped in a prison. She was given a storybook. A beginning and an ending were written, but in between was a hundred blank pages. The beginning was that a monster had imprisoned the girl, and the ending was that a hero appeared and defeated the monster. In her mind, the girl wrote and rewrote the hundred page story over and over again, but no matter what she did, the ending was always the same. The girl was never rescued; the hero simply defeated the monster. The girl wished that the hero would rescue her, but he was nothing more than a player acting out his role. The girl despaired, but still held on to hope that it could someday change. And then next... Makoto and Noel are back, and Kokonoe informs Ragna that his new left arm has a nuclear bomb implanted in it. It is tied to Celica, he must remain withing a certain distance of her or it will activate; Kokonoe apparantly needs to keep Ragna's Azure Grimoire disabled so that she can properly track Terumi through his, or something like that. So Ragna's now with Kagura and Celica, and they encounter Azrael, who is after the Azure. We learn from Kagura that Celica is the key to starting Kushinada's Lynchpin, which they want to use to defeat and overthrow the Imperator so that they can take control of the NOL. Because Ragna can't use his eye or hand, Kagura will stand in for him to fight Azrael. After that, Jin shows up and, if I'm reading this correctly, the Imperator changes the parameters of the Intervention... Anyway, we then get Ragna with Drive sealed vs Unlimited Jin... Jin defeats Ragna and, recognizing his weakness, says he's a waste that's not even worth killing. Celica protects (heals?) Ragna with magic, shocking them, because to their knowledge Phantom and Rachel are the only people who can use magic. She makes them promise not to fight anymore. Then we jump to the eve of the final battle. Ragna, Celica, Jin, Noel, Rachel, Makoto, Kokonoe, Taokaka (somehow), Hibiki, and Kagura are all eating dinner together. The former NOL students reminisce about their old friends, Taro and Mai (from Remix Heart). Mai has apparantly been missing ever since she graduated. Everyone seems to start getting along, and Jin even laughs and Ragna smiles, though Rachel is annoyed by Kagura's flirtations. After that, we have them preparing their battle plans. Ragna and Noel pray for fortune in war, and Celica seems to think of Noel as a sister. Jin is the one coordinating the attack. Their initial goal seems to be to draw out Tsubaki and trigger the metamorphosis of Izayoi. Ragna is worried that he won't be able to do much with his eye and arm sealed, but Celica tells him the story of Bloodedge. And I'm gonna have to call it quits here for now. Seems like what's coming up next includes a flashback of old costume Noel vs Mu and then Mu vs Nu, and then Hazama sends Arakune to attack Noel, I guess. She wakes up in her room being attacked by Arakune, and Kagura defeats him. After this, the group is sort of worried, and Kagura heads off to find Bang to obtain the core of Kushinada's Lynchpin, AKA Bang's Nail, Phoenix Rettenjo. This leads to Kagura reuniting with Bang who at first thinks he's a traitor, before Kagura reveals the truth to him about Tenjo and Homura and the Amanohokosaka line... To be continued, I guess. The story sure seems to jump around a bit, it's a little hard to follow. Or maybe it's just how this poster is doing it? Oh well, we'll have a much clearer understanding before long.
  24. After the battle, Hakumen says there are two things Jin wants to know about. The first is Izayoi, and Hakumen says he'll tell him everything he knows about it. Specifically, Tsubaki is currently clad in its chrysallis, and a sort of metamorphosis must be triggered to release it. Its true form is Zero Weave: Izayoi, which is an anti-Observer battle garb. Its current chrysalis state defends against Intervention, and its Zero Weave Spear is an Immortal Killer, capable of killing even Rachel. Its currently being sustained by the Imperator, and the only way to release Tsubaki from it would seem to be the death of the Imperator. The second thing Jin wants to know is "when" Hakumen is from. Hakumen says he doesn't have the answer to that, but they end up discussing the existence of Noel Vermillion, and assume that Hazama, or rather Yuki Terumi, is responsible for all of this. When Hakumen turns to go, Jin stops him and asks him one last question: why he wanted power. Hakumen says that it was because of his own weakness. He needed a body that could not be defeated again. As he leaves, Jin clenches his fist and considers his own weakness. It's not stated. They call it a "stylish rendition," that's all. It might be new, or just that the poster hadn't heard Blood Pain II before.
  25. Okay, so the next bit the guy posted is... Okay, I believe this is the alternate path where you can choose to talk to Litchi and confirm a report instead of blowing her off? Or he's communicating to her in another way? The guy isn't really formatting this stuff entirely clearly. Anyway, Relius is apparantly using Kushinada's Lynchpin on Arakune to try and eliminate the seithr corrupting him. That's when Carl and Nirvana show up, naturally. Relius is still bashing Carl because of his dependance on other people, and we see that Litchi and Bang have both become important to him. Then, like I said, Relius beats him up and tries to coax him into giving up his ideals and to stop fighting for the sake of others, in exchange for recreating Ada. Rachel watches this from overhead and apparantly Carl escapes. She thinks this exchange is interesting. Apparantly it then cuts to Ragna, who I suppose was captured while trying to find Noel and has been imprisoned in Kagura's place. Kokonoe, Noel, and Celica are there. I guess they're still worried about Tsubaki, too. Anyway, Kagura calls out to someone who's in the corner of the room... "Hey, Jin." Okay, next part, it looks like they can't find Tsubaki because of the Intervention making it impossible to locate her. So they're going to activate an Intervention Jamming device for one hour, during which time they're going to head out and try to accomplish some things. Kagura is going to rendevous with Makoto and Jin is going to go on an errand, etc. So Jin heads off to a snowy area, where Hakumen appears, saying that it seems he was called there. Jin had an intense feeling of recognition for this place. Hakumen says that it's the Power of Order, and he's getting better at using it. Jin says that he knows there are things Hakumen wants to tell him, but he has a hunch about something, and wants to confirm it first. Hakumen says "interesting..." and enters a fighting stance. Jin observes and says that, seeing him in this new way, he feels "certain." Jin vs Hakumen. A stylish rendition of Blood Pain (mirror match) is used as the BGM, which the writer says gave him goosebumps.
