  1. Hey friend. A few of us are looking to travel to Ceotaku ourselves. We've got a pretty decent GG scene here, and a few people play UNI as well. Like qoqonuts said, you should definitely try to make the big BBQ at Seiki's place on August 22nd. It'll be a pretty cool introduction to our scene.
  2. Hey Tad, do you have any info on your going away party? I'd sure like to see you one more time before you split.
  3. I want to clarify that the 30th would be better for me. Lot's of people at my work are taking off the weekends in August, but nobody seems to be taking off the weekend of the 30th. If we have it then I have a higher chance of getting that day off. Sooner we have a date solidified sooner I can request that day off.
  4. I don't mind too much where we go. I haven't been to Rivergate but I'd like to check it out. I'm leaning more towards Antioch because ABK cab. Also ABK side tourney lol.
  5. I found out reflectoring Gordy's 5C will make the counterattack hit. It's annoying, but so far that seems be the best step towards getting in. I haven't fought much Gordeau so this is mostly just theory.
  6. I just tried to check if 66B is plus using the KOF13 method (have both characters jump after blocking/using the move. Pretty useful!) and It doesn't seem plus to me.
  7. Hell I think giving him a run would go a long way towards helping him. Same with fixing the reflector. Making it free is iffy since it would contradict the universal mechanic costing GRD, but at the same time making it free is the only way to really use it to its full potential.
  8. Someone on the balance team must've really hated Blitzkampf.
  9. Which is a bloody shame because my favorite part of Blitzkampf is parrying entire supers like I'm cool and Daigo. So hold on. If something is NOT air blockable, this means it's also NOT air reflectorable? Am I understanding you correctly?
  10. I've reflected a few non projectiles in the air, but it feels like the start up on it is a lot slower than the grounded reflector.
  11. You can also parry projectiles and it won't do the followup attack automatically; just like in Blitzkampf. This could be useful as you can pretty much act immediately after you parry one. Haven't played against humans yet, but theoretically you could Parry -> dash forward to work your way in, or if they throw a projectile you can jump forward into it and parry it. In Blitzkampf you retain your forward momentum when you do this, allowing you to land right in front of them and punish the fireball recovery. I forgot to test if you can actually do something similar in this game. I will when I get a chance.
  12. Seemingly Jackie said that he has all weekends off work from now on. So looks like that's figured out. I assume he's planning on coming.
  13. I'm double posting even though that's a no-no to sorta bring attention. So I got that weekend off, but I'm wondering how I'll get there. I have a feeling Jackie is gonna be a dummy head and not ask off work that weekend even though it'd be like 2 weeks notice and not a big deal. I don't suppose someone would be down to make a field trip to Cookeville to get my ass to and from? I could spot gas... :P
  14. ...You and I need to drink together some time. I look into getting the weekend of July 25th off from work.
  15. Star had brought up a sort of UNiEL release party at his place. If people wanna do that I'm down. I just wanna punch some jews in HD.
  16. I've got a TV I can supply. I'll see if Wes will let me bring his Ps3 (he probably won't mind so yea.) I'm down for some PJ, and of course ABK is yay~
  17. Y'know I had the reply box open since last night, and I've been staring at it wondering if I should say anything that I haven't already said to Milln in private, because I dunno if I want to write my life story with Milln on a public forum. Then I realized, who cares. If other random people pop in and see what we're writing here, they need to see why I adore Milln anyway. Do you remember when we first met? It was back in high school. I walked into the Game Galaxy and you approached me with a big smile and being super friendly. You had a little notebook and asked for my autograph, saying that your goal was to have everyone sign it. Do you still have that? I kinda want to see it. That was my first tournament ever. Probably my first time ever really doing anything video game related out in public. I was still really really shy in those days, but you seemed really approachable and seemed genuinely interested in getting to know myself and others. That was probably 6 or 7 years ago. Time has certainly gone by. I went through the album you posted and I'm not gonna lie, I came pretty close to tearing up, haha. It was like a portal into the past. I had no idea you had snuck so many photos over the years. And yet I can still recall the context of almost every photo, both in terms of what was happening at the event and what was going on in my personal life, both the good and bad. Man I miss Pyramid Cafe. This leaving thing has been a long time coming. We've talked about this before, obviously. I knew it was coming and I'm totally fine with it. People grow, change, and move on. Fighting games aren't for everyone. That's just a fact, Nothing is for everyone. Except breathing. And even then, if you're a fish you probably don't do that. You've been a hugely positive experience on my life, from opening a gateway to a new hobby and helping me meet at these new great friends I have, to even helping me land jobs, as well as advice on life issues or finances or whatever. I don't think any amount of thank yous will ever repay all of that. I'd say you've been more of a father/brother figure to me than my own father and brother. I totally respect you wanting to pursue other interests and further your career. I think it's pretty awesome that you're passionate enough about your store that you want to strive to be one of the best. Also I hope you pop up on the 31st so I can say hello to you. It's been too long since I've seen you. Hopefully I can find opportunities to come to Murfreesboro to pay you and KO a visit as well. Phew. As you said to me the other day, I don't show a lot of emotion. People are probably gonna find this really weird coming from me.
  18. *crashes through window* THIS THIS THIS THIS DO THIS
  19. Sounds like a fine plan to me.
  20. One of the first things to understand about Kliff is he has really strange hurtboxes. By strange, I mean good grief, whoever drew them must've mistaken his giant butter knife as a robotic arm or something. His jumpins are massive, but they extend his hurtbox by a lot. 6P will beat his favorites, j.S and j.H. I've even see it hit BEHIND me, from like, 20 feet away. Kliff is weird. Usually when jumping in with j.S, Kliff will gatling into j.H. There is a gap here that you can VV. Kliff's air movement is very strange. He's slow and floaty, and his airdash doesn't go very far. This can prove very useful to you when throwing gunflames. A person's natural instinct will be to instant airdash over it. At most ranges, Kliff's airdash simply doesn't want to go past the gunflame. If the Kliff isn't aware of this, he'll probably try to IAD and j.S over your gunflame. As mentioned earlier, for whatever reason Kliff's hitboxes just make no sense.IADing normally is fine, but if he presses something he just gets hit. This will lead to a trade, and obviously a CH from your gunflame is WAY more favorable than getting hit by his j.S. You have more than enough time to run up and confirm into combo. His best option for dealing with your gunflame is using Nape Saddle (214K) which I just call the "pole vault." It has massive range, and can usually catch you and knock you down if you try to GF at fullscreen. Due to the hitbox of this move, it seems not as reliable if you're a bit closer. Thus: Gunflame fullscreen, where you'd seemingly feel safe? Probably not safe. Gunflame around midscreen distances, where he'd want to try to IAD? Probably safer. Either way, you should just FRC it and run under him; his airdash is super slow so you can easily get behind him and 5K. Kliff will end combos with 236S Bellowing Roar (large fire thing) which leads to a slide. If he tries to pole vault afterward without FRCing, you can usually just VV it. If he's in front of you, he'll get hit. If he's above you or slightly behind you, he gets hit. If he goes completely behind you, sometimes you get a grand viper, which'll sometimes even cleanhit or counterhit if you don't mash it at all. His 214S Skullcrusher (the dumb looking spin move) can be horrifically negative if spaced improperly. If he does it stupidly close to you, you can run up and wild throw him. If you're hit by it, or he uses it in a combo, it's pretty safe to burst. He keeps moving forward during the Burst startup invuln so there's not a chance of it whiffing. Other random notes: His 2H is a low. It doesn't exactly look like one, but it is. His supers are awfully lackluster. Once tried to punish my gunflame with 236236H (the giant fire super) and gunflame beat it completely. It seems to extend his hurtbox quite a bit. Kliff gets stunned really easily. His stun value is down there with Dizzy and Chipp, and a lot of his moves actually raise his own stun. Unfortunately, he's short, and IK will whiff on him. If you stun him, do NOT go for it. As VR-Raiden mentioned, f.S > HS > Fafnir will cause the Fafnir to whiff on a crouching Kliff at far distances. Be wary of this. All of this comes from playing with my roommate, who, while fairly new to GG itself, has been playing FGs as long as I have and is pretty knowledgable. If something here seems incorrect, feel free to dispute. Discussion is a good thing.
  21. Once I confirm with work that I can get the weekend off, I'm definitely going. If more of Cookeville comes we can work out some carpooling.
  22. Looked to me that after fafnir you can do something into 6HS for knockdown. The Sol I saw doing it in training mode would cancel into a whiffed GF feint and jump in afterward. Could possibly be some sorta safejump set up. Time will tell if that's actually true though
  23. Beef Stew sounds godlike. Yall are free to come up whenever. I get outta work Tuesday at around 9:30 but yall are free to come by before then and even stay the night a few nights til Thursday or whatever the heck you wanna do, provided you don't mind sleeping on the floor :P
  24. His 22C is actually special cancelable so you can do something like hells fang midscreen, or if you're in the corner you can do Deadspike > 5c > 5d > whatever And then people wonder why I asked you guys to be nice :P I wish you weren't busy on Thanksgiving though. I'm sure you and my mom would get along swimmingly.
