  1. apparently they're making a new rurouni kenshin series: http://www.animenewsnetwork.com/news/2011-04-18/new-rurouni-kenshin-anime-green-lit
  2. we watched the first Ironman episode at Mike's place... it wasn't good enough to watch the rest, I felt. I like the new XMEN anime though.
  3. sounds intense. good job MIKE'S APARTMENT. it's always good to hear you guys do well in these tournaments any match vids???
  4. OH shiiiit, I think that FF concert is about the same time as my next weeklong vacation... I'd better double check. If it is, count me in lol
  5. Hey does anyone know how arcade cabinets are put together (not just the box, but the system and games... etc)? I'm thinking of eventually putting together an GG:AC cabinet at some point but I have no idea where to start. I was looking on ebay for ideas... the closest thing I could find was an atomiswave HnK cartridge going for $279. I'd assume I'd need the "system," or motherboard... which is going for $250. It looks like the motherboard would plug into some other things (like sticks and monitor and all that)... but I have no idea what else I would need. I'm almost tempted to just get both cartridge and motherboard, and just figure everything out later on (because holy shit, HnK would be a sick arcade cabinet to own). HnK rom: http://cgi.ebay.com/ARCADE-ATOMISWAVE-JAPAN-RARE-HOKUTO-NO-KEN-/270716188653?pt=LH_DefaultDomain_0&hash=item3f07f137ed System: http://cgi.ebay.com/ARCADE-ATOMISWAVE-JAPAN-RARE-MOTHER-BOARD-/260746615510?pt=LH_DefaultDomain_0&hash=item3cb5b59ad6 System (with a game): http://cgi.ebay.com/ARCADE-ATOMISWAVE-JAPAN-RARE-MOTHER-BOARD-GAME-/270705823140?pt=LH_DefaultDomain_0&hash=item3f07530da4 I found some empty cabinets on ebay too, shipping from Richmond. I wonder if the motherboard just connects to the cabinet?? Anyone know? Cabinet: http://cgi.ebay.ca/OK-BABY-ARCADE-GAME-CABINET-JAMMA-GAME-JAPAN-MONITOR-/170587111804?pt=LH_DefaultDomain_2&hash=item27b7c8c17c Anyway, as sweet as it would be to own an HnK cabinet, I'd still like to eventually own a GG cabinet. I'm going to guess Atomiswave is an outdated system for AC.
  6. I heard about that about Richmond... something about the ground will sink when an earthquake hits because humans artificially put ground there.
  7. OH SHIT SHOGUN... and crocop loses that night too. so depressing Jon Jones is too strong... time to jump on that bandwagon. SAGAT TOO TOP TIER
  8. Yeah, people are depressing. They're all hoarding it for themselves. I also think some pharmacies are stock piling for themselves, so they can sell to the hoarders.
  9. http://www.bcpharmacists.org/news_events/news/news145.php ^^^ Health Canada wants me to spread this message. There shouldn't be a problem here in BC... We got a BC-wide fan-out message today saying to NOT stock-pile iodine for people... Usually fan-out messages are reserved for when suspected prescription forgeries are within our area, or if there were robberies in pharmacies around the area. This lady comes in and DEMANDS that she get iodine. We don't have any, so we tell her that. Then she accuses us of lying and gets all lippy... WTF, we can't even order it from our supplier if we wanted to. Yeah, it's pretty silly that people want to stock-pile it here, when it's definitely more needed Japan.
  10. I wasn't there, but I remember people telling me that my cousin got suspended for fighting or some shit. I tell them, "wtf I have no cousin." They all thought we're cousins because of our last names or something. Didn't you also get in trouble for trying to catch spawning salmon with your bare hands? haha
  11. yeah, the last bit was a grind with a lot of dying. but with fully upgraded javelins, anything is possible. lots of trial-and-error moments and restarting certain parts because I accidentally used too many heals or javelins. If I had known that the last chapter WAS the last chapter, I would've spent all my cash on javelins instead of saving up for "the next suit." I had to use hit and run tactics against the last boss to get more javelins. have I mentioned how fabulous javelins are? SHOT... BZZZT BZZZZZZZZT.... BOOOM
  12. Ah yes, the soundtrack... When that suspenseful music goes on I'm thinking, "oh shit." I felt the game did a good job in pulling in the player into its atmosphere. I've never felt the same kind of on-the-edge intensity from any other game. I felt the same way with the ending... it looked like they were trying to conclude the story too short. There were too many unanswered questions. The absolute ending had a funny twist to it (like when he turns his head to NOT find a necromorph)... but yeah, it fell short in the "job well done" department. They needed something... like MGS style ending cutscene. The final boss didn't seem that final. It felt like a sub-boss before the TRUE boss fight. Like if that regenerating necromorph morphed into a bigger necromorph... and just keeps getting bigger as you kill it, sort of thing.
  13. I just finished DS2 last night... good game, but I was expecting a bit more. it felt like DS2 was like a big expansion pack of DS1. there wasn't too much innovation, just little improvement. I liked the new javelin weapon... Feels like an overall good weapon for big and small monsters. It deals good damage off the bat, and if you add it's ALT ability, it turns into an AOE with an explosion. On survivor mode, it only takes like one shot to take down a normal necromorph... and if one shot isn't good enough, the ALT ability does the trick. And when you're facing a whole bunch of crazy kid monsters, just shoot a javelin into the floor and ALT it for massive AOE damage. Game was overall fun... I couldn't stop playing it. But it still feels like it's missing innovation.
  14. I just got my copy today and I've been playing it since coming home from work..game is dope. I'm on chapter 6 now playing on survivor mode (I figured zealot mode would be too hard to start on). So far I've been powering up my pistol to max firepower... I haven't used my nodes for anything but that lol. I haven't even bought a 4th weapon yet (I'm using plasma cuttr, line cutter and javelin). So far I'm finding the javelin's good for annoying small monsters with its 2nd function
  15. Dead Space 2... so good that it makes Ray write like a journalist. I just ordered my copy now... hoping it'll be even scarier than the 1st
  16. having some good runs with Haggar/Dante/Chris, though online play isn't exactly the best way to gauge how good that team actually is. it'll probably get super owned by actual players. I don't think anyone has a anti air grab super. The closest is like Haggar-- his DP+C launches himself up for a grab... you can do a re-launch combo into super bodyslam. Haggar's air steel pipe seems very powerful in scrub play... if it connects, I combo it into a launcher super which can cancel into Dante's super... if it doesn't connect, keep doing it until it connects. oh yeah, it's so satisfying killing Zero with the steel pipe (exploding from being his by a steel pipe... haha..) Chris' machine-gun assist goes quite well with Dante's teleport crossup... and it's also good with Haggar steel pipe jump-ins. Chris as an actual fighter doesn't feel too powerful... But his long-range game seems to counter other long-range games. He's gotten me outta lots of X-factor sentinel situations with his jump magnum tricks... plus he's got a lot of OTG combo potential. Dante is just dante... I only know one high damage combo (using teleport crossup)... and it seems to be working.
  17. lets play some MVC3 my psn id is 'nagaiyen', i think.
  18. pretty bummed out that Fedor lost... but he lost in true Fedor style. He never gave up after being full-mounted and ground and pounded... after being arm-triangled... and after getting knee-barred all in one round. And despite all of the punishment, he still tries to submit his opponent. true warrior. Fedor doesn't lose by any man... he loses to Dr stoppages. (except werdum)
  19. http://screwattack.com/videos/MvC3-Smack-Talkin-Teams hahahhaa deadpool: MAGNETO WELCOME TO DIE this is great
  20. yo peter: when you get the chance, also send up my pink DS-- a friend got me dragon quest 4 for xmas. also, send up #R for xbox if you can too. david tran might want to try it (and he has an xbox)
  21. I'm actually looking for a nice gaming laptop... preferably something small for portability, but can also play SC2. this laptop actually looks pretty good. any other recommendations???
  22. im pretty sure i asked if he was from vancouver not edmonton yeah my bad, I just remembered you posting in the Vancouver GG forum. For some reason I thought that's where you were from. It almost sounds like no one in Edmonton plays BB. Don't you have anyone to play with? Even if you have one or two other BB players, that'd be a good start for a community/gathering. How about an arcade in Edmonton? A lot of GG players in BC just randomly met at the UBC arcade, and then we started gathering at each other's places to play. You BB players also have netplay, which GG never had until #R was cracked. Couldn't you use that to hook up with other players? I've never played BB online, so I don't know what social networking options there are.
  23. aren't you from Vancouver? or somewhere BC lower mainland? You do know there's an already established GG "community" there. just come hang out with us. if you really want to strengthen BB, it's probably a good idea to start where GG players are. Also, I don't think you need a community building or anything like that. I feel you're treating this situation too professionally, which can be a turn off. A community forms naturally. You don't need an organization, or a community center, or anything like that. All of those things will come once you find a group of people who play and enjoy the game. Vancouver GG players don't like BB, but that doesn't mean we don't play it. If you're so bent on starting a BB scene, you should really start there (if you live around that area).
