Alright, so I'm sitting in an online room that I made and something kind of surprising happens. Another Noel player joins my room. (I don't know about anyone else, but in my experience this hardly every happens) They were around the same level as me (as if that means anything), so I was naturally intrigued and wanted to see how their Noel compared to mine. I wouldn't necessarily say my Noel is any good, but hey, I might learn something by watching, right? Anyway, what I did end up learning is that their Noel played nothing like mine. I play Noel kind of.. idiotic, if I'm going to be honest. All out offense; always trying to pressure the opponent, fishing for counter hit 5B/C/D, constantly taking risks, etc. In my head I'm essentially shouting 'HIT CONFIRM', 'GET THEM IN THE CORNER' and subsequently 'KEEP THEM IN THE CORNER'. This player's Noel style can be summarized as 'hit and run' basically? Very defensive; lots of IADing backwards and Rapid Cancelling after applying pressure. I personally wouldn't say it's all that fun in practice (I have fun playing risky) or entertaining to watch, but at the very least it was efficient. Efficient against my garbage Ragna and the other players in the room, anyway. I realized that I wouldn't really have much of a chance of winning otherwise, so I switched to Noel and had a go at them. I still lost. Granted, I didn't find that surprising because I absolutely despise same character matches and I try my best to avoid them almost as frequently as I avoid Iron Tager. Suddenly forgetting how to block overheads also contributed heavily to my loss, but that's a whole 'nother thing entirely. :P Anyway, as naive as it may be for me to ask this.. Could I possibly be playing Noel incorrectly? As I said before, their play style was rather efficient in dispatching opponents, and I can't deny that I've looked back at several matches over the course of playing and thinking that it would have been better to play a bit more defensively. Questions? Thoughts? Name calling?

I like her 5C in Continuum Shift a lot more than the Calamity Trigger one, but that's about it, haha.
-
That's a mighty nice looking combo, if I do say so myself. Definitely made me want to use the Ange/Lucifer team more.
-
Nice to know that a guy can't ask a question around here without having the implication that they're an idiot forced on to them. It probably wasn't right for me to ask such a question of you, but I honestly did not mean any harm and therefore I think your response was rather uncalled for. As for the balance patch discussion/debate, I think I'm just going to bow out of it because I don't really feel like it would go anywhere at this point.

I didn't know a 'yes' straight from Mori's mouth wasn't good enough for people. Color me surprised. Alright then. I was honestly just curious and it confused me a little. It's kind of like me posting in the XBL thread when I don't even have a 360 console. No need (at the very least, to pretend) to be offended by what I said. A simple answer would have sufficed, but I guess that's just how things are around Dustloop, huh?

It was already translated. You've been given multiple sources that confirm that the balance patch is planned for release on consoles. No idea why you refused to believe what Cirno said in the first place. Also, dare I ask why you're even in the MD/VA topic anyway?

I reckon the only one that really appeals to me just going off the way it looks on the palette listing in is the second from the top. It's settled then. I'm gonna go with the red/gold palette that will come with her purchase on console. -

I reckon all I need is that console DLC red/gold color that every character has and I'll be good. I'm sure on her it'll be godlike. I don't think I'll use her too much or pick her up a secondary, but like all of the DLC characters released, I'm interested in trying her out a good amount. At least do the first 7 challenges or so with her and get a gist on how she plays. -
I reckon Battler looks like he plays rather similar to Aoko in the Melty Blood games. Not too much of an issue for me since she's my favorite to play in those. Kanon and Lucifer look really fun too. Game looks really great in motion. I wish I could have seen more of Ange tho'. Her Double German Suplex super is enough to make me hype for her. I'm thinkin' my primary team is going to be either Ange/Kanon or Ange/Lucifer. Probably the latter.

Hahaha. I reckon that was me. My apologies, but it's definitely one of my favorite Umineko songs. :3

I get it. The final build could easily be entirely different from this last location test. It probably will, but who knows, there could be a considerable amount of changes that stick. It's one of the many possibilities.. of the Continuum Shift..
-
I reckon you're correct in stating that the final build won't be a carbon copy of any one of the location tests, but the information gathered just might give us a general idea of what to expect from each character, so I still see it as relatively important.
-
So anyway, I'm liking the buffs to Noel's pressure game mentioned in these location tests. Hopefully they'll stick and be enough to make her a solid character in the final build. (Please stop responding to FormerlyUnknown)

Hahaha. So I was entirely right when I decided to completely dismiss it. Good stuff.
-
I checked it but I.. didn't understand it. Afterward I completely dismissed it.
-
What am I looking at.
-
Oh geez. I didn't notice it. I apologize.
-
Netplay confirmed? Awesome. If there was any doubt that I would play this game it's entirely gone now. The character page got updated with Battler and Beatrice. Only ten slots total on it, so I reckon we know of all the existing playable characters that are going to be in the version released next month. Ange Battler Beatrice Eva-Beatrice Kanon Lucifer Ronove Shannon Siesta 410 Virgilia Battler's character ability is Resurrection. Has something to do with his HP. Don't know Japanese, unfortunately.

I reckon someone hasn't noticed the incredibly distinct lack of Noel players (both good and bad) in the current version of Continuum Shift, huh? She was really bad. She deserved to be better. I'm not really asking for my character to be the best in the game either, but it's always nice to have your favorite character be viable in high level play, yeah?
-
Oh goodness, I didn't even think of that. I would enjoy that quite a bit, but I reckon I'm fine with them reusing older music as well. Active Pain works relatively well as Ange's theme anyway. Love the song, always have.
-
If Jessica was confirmed playable then I'd have everyone that I'd really want to use. Granted, even without her I reckon I'd have plenty of fun with Ange and Kanon. Everyone else it simply depends on how they play.
-
That's the type of news I like to hear.
-
I'm so happy right about now. Sounds fantastic.
-
I love that song, but I won't deny it's unbelievably awkward listening to without cackle.wav repeatedly playing in the midst of it.
-
This game looks absolutely fantastic. I reckon at the very least I'll be using Ange quite a bit. Kanon too. Although I can't help but wonder where Jessica and George are. Jessica is one of the main characters I'd be interested in playing. Nevermind. Their dead bodies are definitely in the background of a screenshot. Damn.
