  1. @4r5: do you mean an empty jump->late ad.S crossup? also, i love the j.HS whiff->throw->air combo. i can't count the amount of times this works for me. the sight of johnny pulling his sword throws people into block mode and you can land and either high/low mixup or just go straight for the throw->air combo. i also like to do db frc->falling HS whiff/hit->embarassment..haha
  2. i watched a video once(can't remember who was fighting) but sol combo'd into corner->backdash->gf feint->gf feint->tyrant rave..i think it worked because the other person was thinking he'd gf frc..he ended up airdashing in for combo but ran into a tyrant rave..personally i use gf feint just to keep people honest..a friend told me in the heat of the fight its not easy to differentiate the two on startup when you have to worry about a bunch of other things..just my 2 cents..
  3. very true..i see what you mean..i'd do it if i wasn't pressed for coins..the joy of it is that it doesn't use tension and more often than not you can recoin and it disrupts pressure from your oppenent..like a rythym killer..i use it to turn the tables rather than the damage aspect..
  4. i used to do it to get a knockdown if my mf was at lvl2..i never really combo'd before or after..just to mix things up if i'm being pressured or i'd like to move someone into the corner. depending on how far you are from the corner you can low mflvl2->tk enkasu->mist frc or 2p coin which leaves them in the corner and gets your lvl2 back. low mflvl2->tk enkasu works all the time but its more effective when your back is close to the corner because it leaves them in the corner and you ready to start your next attack..sorry if this doesn't answer what you were asking but i was a little confused by the question..im a little off today..sorry.
  5. not sure if this has been posted yet and it works on most characters(harder for aba and roky) but after a Low mflvl2 you can enkasu and recoin or mist(mist my need frc to make it safe). i haven't tested it in a while but i'm pretty sure it works. hard to test things since i don't have my ps2 anymore..
  6. i played an axl a couple days ago after i read some of this thread and i found patience to be a good tool when fighting him..he tried to poke from long distance which didn't work(backdash and ducking) and when he tried to rush in he'd either run into a coin or i'd wait for an opening in his pressure and exploit it..i've also found that trading a hit for a coin for match opening doesn't hurt either..if you're feeling ballsy you can jackhound rc throw but it may not be worth the tension..

I agree with 4r5..I came from MvC2 with characters that have all sorts of frills to get the job done and I picked up johnny and endured plenty of beatings in XX..one thing I learned is that a good understanding of johnny's strengths and having knowledge of matchups helps immensely..I tried to learn everything johnny could do level by level and apply it to actual fights..MC, FRC's, one-hits and set-ups etc. I have been playing johnny for almost 5 years and there's still a bunch of stuff I need to learn and perfect in order to get my johnny to where I want it and as a person who's been playing johnny as my main char for so long its what drives me to get better..I honestly probably would have given him up long ago if he wasn't so damn cool..haha
  8. i was messing around with combos and came up with 2P-5K-c.S-5H-mf.S(lv 2)FRC-j.K-j.S-jc.-dj.K-kjFRC-j.K-tj-j.K-j.S-j.D-E..it does 156dmg..you can tk enkasu after MF if you want..i've tried to follow up with dash-bacchus sighFRC but its really close and the opponent can probly hit you out of if before mist comes out..sorry if somebody already posted these i just ran across them today..also i've only tried on ky at midscreen..
