[CSE] Hazama Combo Guide and Combo Discussion Thread
CaseOak replied to MetalMaelstrom's topic in Archive
With corner combos like this: 2A > 5B > 3C > 236D > dash 6C > dash 5C > j.C x 5 > 2C > 214D~B > 3C I can never get the 6C to red-beat. Am I not dashing soon enough after the 236D? Is there a cue I can go on for when to dash? -
I've put some thought into subbing Mu in EX. What set-ups and combos should I work on in the meantime?
-
*realises that a Wiki has appeared in his absence* I stand corrected then. It looks like we've been generously compensated for the 6C nerf. :D If Haz hasn't gotten weaker, why do you think he's slipped so many spaces on the tier list since CS2? Are there several characters as strong as CS2 Noel/Makoto?

Trying to get back into this game after a few weeks off is fkkn punishing. Previously, I'd been winning about half the time against level 50+ opponents; every match I played today was a wash-out. I feel a lot like giving it a break until Extend. Speaking of which, who's imported EX and played around with the new Haz? In broad strokes, how is he different? The impression I got was weaker combos but juicier specials: that's a trade-off I could live with.

Sorry for the double-post, but it was being difficult about allowing a seond attachment. Here I am modeling it with troll face. The brand is Akubra, an Aussie label that uses real fur-felt. This model, I believe, is called Bogart. Apparently they're distributed in the US through David Morgan. I'd be surprised if you couldn't get one online. If you want to know more: http://www.akubra.com.au/index.html

Still struggling with this corner combo: 5C Houtenjin 214D~C2 66 (switch side) 6C 66 5C 6C 66 5C 2C 6DA 4DA 623D 66 5C 6C 66 2C JC5 5C HJC5 J214B The first 6C (just after ducking under the opponent, into the corner) always ends up blue-beat, even with a level 2 Zaneiga. Is there some cue on when to dash after Zaneiga?

One problem I have with this match-up: B-Sledge spam. Am I wrong in thinking that B-Sledge can be canceled into itself? If so, how do I punish?
-
Q about IADs: I'd gather that they're more important than Tsubaki than for most characters, but just how important are they? Am I likely to need them in online play? And is there an alternative to 956 or 754 inputs?
-
Any tips on what grip to use when playing Haz on stick? A few considerations: - 236236 inputs (from P1 side) still get my goat now and then. - I really struggle with 44 from P1 side/66 from P2 (that is, double-left). This is my main problem with the wineglass grip. - Instant air-dashes. Not a big problem for Haz, but I sub Tsubaki and wish I had a one-size-fits-all grip (if that's not likely, then discount this point).

I see this more often you'd expect. Any tips for punishing blocked chain fly-ins?

Finishing a match with 5B+C -> Mizuchi: easy but inexplicably satisfying.

Plat's challenges 6 and 7 are all that's stopping me from getting her last achievement. In #6, I have a lot of trouble landing the 6A (assuming I dash on landing from the first jump, it comes out just a few frames after Bang techs). In #7, 236B is the problem (it almost always goes straight under Bang).

Can someone walk me through Rachel's challenges 4 and 5 in CS2? From the in-game video, I'd gather that in the first combo in challenge 4, you're supposed to launch her pumpkin and land that at about the same time as a 5B, with wind assistance. That's about all I've got. How do I do this, and how do I check off the "no command" bit at the beginning of the combo?
-
I'm getting geared up for CS2 and still planning on maining Hazama. Question: which parts of his game should I put the most effort into honing at the moment, knowing that a lot of it will be overhauled soon?
-
After a fair bit of equivocation - I was among the many who were butthurt about no playable Phoenix Wright - I preordered this today. Hsien looks like outrageously fun to play, and I've been wanting for a while to try out some troll team featuring MODOK, Deadpool and She-Hulk.

I've been having an embarrassing amount of trouble with Tsubaki's challenges. Sticking point: first combo in challenge 3, trying to follow up 214A with 22A (last bit of the combo). Any advice regarding timing? At best, I execute 22A and see Bang tech out of the way, a few frames before it would otherwise land.

I saw a Hazama combo vid shortly after the release of CS and was pretty keen to try him out. I never played CT, and ended up not liking the playstyles of characters I expected to like (e.g. Litchi), so yeah, the rest is history. I did everyone's first two challenges before making up my mind. Edit: As for Makoto, I couldn't say no to a hottie with Slayer-inspired juggles.

Hope you guys don't mind another couple of beginner-level questions about Haz's combos. First up: 214D~C(2) is the stumbling block for me. Whenever I go for a lv. 2 Devouring Fang, the combo ends up blue-beat. Any advice regarding timing? Secondly: And all other combos with that 623D > (dash) 3C figure. The recovery on Hungry Coils makes dashing in time difficult - and even when I do dash successfuly and land the 3C, it doesn't combo.
-
Yeah, I'll admit to finding this match-up a bit tricky. My main problem: the Tager player is likely to spam his 2D, so I get magnetised on block. I can usually avoid being grabbed by spamming 3C (which, of course, I can then continue into a combo) - but if my opponent anticipated this and blocked low, I'd be in trouble.
-
Looking at this combo: Does this mean that I do two Devouring Fangs in succession? I can do that, but it ends up blue-beat. It also places the opponent slightly behind me. Also, I've seen numerous references to "Hotenjin" - which English move name is that equivalent to?
-
One combo I'm curious about: How do I "adjust"? Haz is off-screen at that point in the combo (on the ground while the opponent is high in the air), so I could only really measure my movement by taps of the stick.
-
This was my first match-up online. I was Haz, I won. Most of the combos I saw were air-to-ground, so relying on 6D and 623D got me through.
