Games tonight?
-
I'll try it next time, but I'm having a lot of trouble with that throw AID stuff because there's no real jump cancels, only super. I might need a long time to do that one.

Tenryo - I am giving you something valuable! Someone's FIRST TIME ownership experience with the game! I hope your guys can use it to gain understanding about how some players will approach the game! https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=N73TLGhr7qA Feedback: Going in: I had played CC twice before today in very brief sessions. I warmed up to it after the second session. I saw a crazy Hermes combo video (thanks for that!) and felt pretty hype that everything floats in this game and Hermes could combo forever provided she had meter. I knew I wanted to play a spacing, momentum and Oki game. I liked her whip moves and lightning going in and though "hey, maybe if I learned how it actually works I can learn." But, sadly, I have no idea how to play this fighting game after about an hour. I spent time playing with moves and seeing what chained or linked into what, generally seeing what my moves could do - even though I didn't really use the command list or controller picture pamphlet. I managed to go through some of the motions of picking up a new character and game and I'm still not sure what to do on knockdown or how to combo with Hermes. I couldn't (or wasn't sure how ) to test the game's base mechanics. I don't even think I know of all of them! I tried to set the dummy to hit and learned a bit but I still don't think I have the whole story. - No input bar. If I knew how the game processed inputs I could understand what I did wrong more often. - is there a record function? Did I miss it? - After I stopped streaming I figured I should have played more with 1-hit block mode, but that option really could use a detailed tooltip. In fact, I think the game would benefit a lot of you created a space that displayed a tooltip for each option while adding more options in training mode. - I also should have played more with the other move choices I had. Maybe tomorrow. - The corner not being the corner is really scary for me. I'll have to watch the floor or background a lot. It's possible that, because I really have only played ArcSys games and KOF, that my expectations are higher, but not only do I feel really intimidated and non-confident in the prospect of learning this game and my character, but I don't think the game has enough features to enjoy the process I go through in ArcSys games or KOF. There's a lot I have to go and look up, and to actually try it out and do setups and stuff is going to be very time-consuming and difficult. Hermes is strange - Either she is supposed to be a trap setup and runaway character with knockback or she is a neutral/spacing/momentum/oki character (I'd like to play the latter style) Right now, the most effective strategy I have in my own head is to pretend to be Benimaru but with Jackhound. I'm sure I'll learn more as I look things up, though. When netplay comes out, I'll eventually see what's up. The best comparison I would make to the process of learning this game is to compare it to me learning KOF. (UNIB is unfair, I've watched a lot of UNIB videos) Learning KOF was easier because the rules and mechanics are very consistent and I was taught them as I played. It also has more features in training mode, even though I think they are awkward to quickly change or reset. So - just to be clear since I've said a lot - I don't think it's BAD. It really is only day 0 for me, and about an hour of really unstructured testing and practice. There's quite a bit I DO like about it. The game is visually interesting and it's nice to see a unique-looking franchise, but I think it needs a 2.0. My outlook on learning this one is bad, even though it's a simpler game than UNIB. I'll keep trying, though, when I have some spare time. Someone told me "just pick Cerberus" - How good is this advice? lol

That depends on what your personal goals are and how you relate yourself to others around you. Take some time to think about these things - If you are feeling unsatisfied, is it because you want them to be more competitive? Is it because you wanted them to improve, too? It's possible you may need to confront something unpleasant about yourself and decide what to do with it.

Yo - I just got this game. Will be streaming it regularly. Join me today or tonight for "figuring it out" sessions.

This isn't Baiken-specific but it still makes me very happy to announce that I can do this, now.
-
Why can I no DP wolf anymore? T_T

GGs to those I played. I think I'm starting to adapt more over time versus people and get some stamina for matches back. That's good.

What's the worst fighting game you've played?
Star-Demon replied to Verimeloni's topic in Misc Fighter Central
I was about to post when I saw the OP. Thread over in one post. -
GGs I guess? I don't know how but I don't understand these midscreen combos everyone but me knows at all. I just don't know how to do this on pad on default config lol. I stole a game from Lich and ran with that shit all the way home.

There's something I want to say, and I could say a lot, but this is all I must say: As far as I know - Eevee regularly attends TSB. He supports the scene by showing up and playing videogames and trying to have fun and get better. As far as I know - Eevee hasn't done anything to piss off anyone. Hasn't hurt anyone, hasn't done anything bad to anyone. So you guys turn around and say and did what you did to him in front of over 1000 people? For *fun*? I think that is seriously fucked up. That's all. -
I think a big problem is that we really like quantifiable results. Wins and losses are really all we have, systemically. We don't have stats on successful baits, counters, and things we practice in training mode. Even then, bad days for players exist. What about netplay? Environment? If you lose you aren't necessarily the worse player, but for sure, we act and measure based on results. When you can't find results, you have nothing else but the most basic stats. Also - we don't really have surefire ways on what to DO when we confront problems. I'm talking about actionable items - verbs. Here's what I've been doing, lately: I've been playing this game differently from others. I still get very upset when I take frustrating and humiliating losses, but it's a very big struggle to keep myself under control and focused on continuing to play. When I feel like I hit a wall I accept what I'm feeling and thinking and then remember the grand scheme of things, as well as accept that growth is entirely non-linear - success and improvement come when they do. I just go back, try some new things, sometimes force myself as well as I can to change something and just relax if I can. It's not easy at all to get better. A lot of people will talk up a lot of bravado but there's definitely no system, definitely no even ground, and definitely no promises for success. Your time gets wasted a lot, no matter what. Just some things that I think will help: - Stay away from monsters. Either Streammonsters, Real life monsters, pot monsters...Anyone that isn't behind YOU improving and building skills. They are useless and a serious drag on your experience. - Continue practicing things and situations - there's no way around this - If you lack knowledge, own up and go get it - Talk to people, don't read stuff or force your personal learning style into others. IF you are a social learner, talk to people, if you are a mobile learner, practice standing up. If you are a visual or auditory learner, maybe watch videos or read. - Very important - don't talk to people who don't respect the game or characters. Every character is legit, every move is legit, everything is legit. There is no Disrespect until there is Respect. - Give yourself room to fail and succeed. It's okay to do either.

GGs to people I played. Tonight was good. I definitely saw some improvement, and that feels good to see after feeling so bored or frustrated with playing people lately.
-
GGs LK, MTLDerQ, Dreikoo, others. As badly as I've been beaten tonight I saw some improvement in some of those matches. I'm not really improving as fast as everyone else, but I'm improving somehow.
-
3c from your blocked 2B range got me a lot. I still don't understand defending and escaping vs competent Bangs without DP.

GGs to Dreikoo... Wuss.

I have a 5 man room open on stream.

Anyone on? I'm so sick of playing WC 0 and 1 bar connections...
