[P4AU] Elizabeth Gameplay Discussion

Changing the date to Friday, April 24th for the swiss bracket. Partially b/c I forgot to put the sign-up sheep live for everyone and partially b/c there isn't too much anime going on on Friday for NWM7. Sorry about that, guys. Sign-Up Format will be based on the number of players that sign-up. If there are 8 players or less, the tournament will be best of 5 sets. Otherwise, it'll be best of 3.

Persona 4 Ultimax FT10s (04/19/15 @ 3PM EST)

I can probably help with commentary as well, though I won't be playing. -
Margaret's 5A is good in this matchup, but I feel like you're overselling it just a bit. Yukari can place her orbs at a height where Margaret's 5A will only hit the persona (Unless she does her 214/j.214 series orbs, where you'll just miss them completely). Here, she'll be safe from all of your cancel options even if you do manage to hit the persona. If you try to 5B under the orb, you'll get CH. You can still run under the orb like normal and try to 2A Yukari to force her to block, but that would mean you would've had to commit already to just running by the orb: it's not something you can just react to. Also, Yukari's 2C outspaces Margaret's 5A by a bit, so you could get whiff punished (though you're more likely to just get put into block stun) and microdash sweep will beat Margaret's 5A clean just inside of max range. Now for the arrows: 5A does not stop charged arrows at all, nor does it stop her 236 series. I don't know why you glossed over that, but I'm just going to assume you forgot about these two things. 5A also has a lot of issues with catching redirected arrows. Margaret's mixup on a knockdown (especially in the corner) is definitely better and her oki is somewhat safer, but Yukari's mixup/oki isn't terrible either. Her reward from just hitting you with j.A/5A is really good, so even the standard high/low/throw mixup that she gets safely the majority of the time can be threatening. She also gets similar positioning from midscreen hits if she doesn't reach the corner + an ailment. It's straighforward, but you will still get hit by it often enough for it to be relevant. As for the focus on throws...throws are definitely a big part of her stagger game (as it is for stagger pressure in general), but Yukari isn't too bothered by the fuzzy meta. Her pressure naturally deals with people fuzzy jumping and using fuzzy DP, so she doesn't have to go out of her way to bait either. If you guess wrong on a fuzzy attempt and she hits you...well, you're probably taking 4-5k and getting put in the corner with an ailment on you for absolutely no resources. I'm pretty sure Tahichi plays Margaret more b/c she's more fun for him, btw. I've never seen anything that would suggest otherwise. Hmm, I don't think I missed anything. Let me know if there's anything else you guys want to talk about in the matchup. I enjoy discussing this type of thing and hearing what people think!

I haven't done anything in a while, so it's about time to fix that. I'll be holding a swiss bracket tourney next Thursday, April 23rd if anyone is interested in joining. Normally I'd run this on the weekend, but I don't want to stop some people from watching NWM7 (and I'd prefer to watch that over streaming, too). I'll open up sign-ups Saturday night. Also, I might stream some stuff this weekend along the lines of 'first come, first serve' FT5s. Not entirely sure yet, but I'll check back in here later if I end up doing something.

I just realized that I forgot to clear and open this back up on Monday...ugh, sorry. Sign-Up Here Anyways, we're doing this again on this coming Sunday (4/5). If you'd like to enter, be sure to sign-up before 5:30PM CST as I'll be cutting off sign-ups this time around. The stream will start at 5PM CST as long as there aren't any delays.
-
Okay, we're doing Ft3s and Ft5s tomorrow. This'll be the first time I attempt this, so you guys will have to bare with me if there are any technical difficulties or anything. I'm not going to be doing a sign-up sheet this time around, so as long as you post here or in the stream chat during the session, I'll add you to the list. Remember, these are moreso for getting feedback and critiques than anything else, so join with that in mind. This will start around 4PM CST, but it might me a bit delayed depending on whether or not I can pull commentators orz Edit: Okay, a sign-up sheet would still be a good idea, haha. You can sign-up here and see who all is confirmed atm.

I don't remember what the OS is, but you actually kind of benefit from him using it. You can add another layer to your RPS game if an Aki is doing this by tossing in Maragidynes when he breaks your persona or setting up awakening B Maziodyne (since Thanatos will relocate to where you are). Make sure you're sitting near-fullscreen, though. Other than that, just doing 5C > OMC > 5C as a frame trap will beat this.
-
Don't worry about it! There will be more than one of these, so I'm sure you'll get a chance to play. I think we'll have some west coast players or mid-west ones that will be up for playing. Just be sure to check-in here to see if anyone is willing to test the connection with you. Oh, do you at least have a twitch account? It'd be easier to find someone for you if you could chat with us during the stream.
-
Do you mean if it hits you while you're in the air or when you're forced to block it on the ground? If it's the former, you can burst to avoid getting grabbed. Otherwise, you have to just take the hit. If it's the latter, you just crouch under the lightning.

Just trying to get more people interested in this game and help people prepare a bit more. If I have fun doing it, it's even better :D I'd definitely save and upload the archives to youtube so that players could review their matches. Like you said, the players won't be able to listen while they're playing. Having the feedback available to them afterwards is important.
