  1. ..."or something", yea. I'm not saying this to rage at the boss fight, though. The AI is actually really goddamn stupid, especially with that move. It doesn't even make Scharl herself seem like a good character - I wouldn't have any idea whether she's good or not, because the AI doesn't know what the hell it's doing with her, and as you said, she's stupidly fragile. It's the implications of having that move available to competent human players, in actual competition, on any character, that I'm distressing over. I'm able to beat the Arcade boss specifically because she doesn't intelligently abuse it.
  2. For the love of fuckshit, please tell me Fenrir Arcana is banned in anything remotely serious. Giving this Arcana to your opponent when you're playing a more ground-based character is basically like having them flip the Unlimited switch on their Arakune "just because". I don't have a problem with this Arcana for any reason other than the rocket super. And I wouldn't have a problem with it even then, except that the intelligent/reasonable ways to deal with this kind of move don't actually work against it, unless you were already in the middle of them when the move was activated. Highly fast, unblockable projectile that takes off around 70% health for 1 bar of meter. Honestly, that wouldn't be such a problem in itself, though I can see it becoming a common scrub complaint from players who haven't learned to deal with it - I mean, I've halfway-described Genesic Emerald Tager Buster so far. But how would you deal with such a move? -Just jump over it. Except that the hitbox reaches too high unless you were already high enough in the air when the super started. -Activate something with startup invincibility. Except that it hits too fast unless you were already starting one when the super started. -Hit the opponent out of it. Except that the startup is too brief, and even if you were already attacking them, you'll only succeed if you were ridiculously close to the opponent when the super started. It isn't enough to stay ready to avoid or counter this move. Whatever methods you might use to do so have to already be underway when the move goes off. So unless your opponent is explicitly throwing it out at the wrong times, the only real way to "work around" it is to spend the entire fight in the air. Congratulations, you just nerfed the shit out of a large portion of the cast, not to mention the gameplay in general. Unfortunately, I have PSN unlisted for a reason. Although I really want a PS3 anyway (Tales of Graces FML), "practicing in the meantime" was a deliberate choice of words. On the other hand... "Location: Tucson, AZ" OMGWTFBBQ is that for real?
  3. Intriguing. Tell me more about Ruben, then. =) Hair? Eye color? Cup size? Height? Build?
  4. Very, very much so. But I need something either closer or more reliable. It looks like I'll be having to move to that area anyway, in order to obtain work. But I need something more solid before I commit to go. Moving out of Millia's bedroom and into Ruben's... Sounds like a downgrade. According to even more people crossword-puzzles are a game.
  5. lol @ implying League of Legends is an actual game
  6. OMFG I nearly made some smartass comment, but then I looked it up and "Goodyear, Arizona" is an actual place. Holy hell this state is retarded. After weighing my various life-destructive options, I almost jumped back into Blazblue. Then I remembered the XBL Guilty Gear thing coming up, and decided to spend those efforts practicing Accent Core+ on my PS2 in the meantime. Unfortunately I ended up starting something similar, with... uh... Arcana Heart 3. Will definitely be trying to main Baiken; probably gonna end up somewhere among Kamui, Akane, and Saki. It's so weird, though. Whenever I look up Arcana Heart stuff online, people keep talking about whether "it's legal". ...I don't get it. What are they talking about? And why are they worried about whether it's legal?
  7. MAN... He's not a part of your 'system'... My foremost envy among 'things you folks have in Phoenix that we don't over here', no joke.
  8. I'd rather manual-unlock just so I'm not rewarding them for that behavior, and I'd suggest anyone who's particularly bothered by the normal unlock-method to do the same.
  9. Yea it's been like 800 years since I honestly played a fighter.
  10. Here we go. This footage isn't exactly driving home the "most comfortable with Leona" idea. I did slightly better with her in the nighttime matches, but I think what really happened is that I spent so much time exploring for my 3rd member, and practicing them/Athena, that I hadn't been practicing with Leona at all, even for inputs. I couldn't even remember which direction my DM commands were, half the time. o_O http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WrkQgwoD1gQ http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=G2pe8Mrz4V8 http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6pZqfvgAHdQ http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ou-W1gVSinc I think for me it's more motor-skill problems; if I get at all tense whatsoever, my fingers tend to lock up, etc. I'll fail a DP motion because my thumb didn't realize that it hadn't actually moved to push the button, and such. EDIT: Oh, by the way, does freakin' ANYBODY play Claw Iori on XBL? I saw both Kyos, and I didn't even see a lot of Kyo. Practically everyone I saw played Iori, though, and not once did anybody use the claw version.
  11. Bolverk: Thank you, although it's funny that you said what you did specifically. I went ahead and did Kyo -> Athena -> Leona, since I was looking for a good lead. Technically Athena and Leona ARE good leads, but that wasn't where I wanted them, lol. I went ahead and used EX Kyo even though he seemed harder to use/learn. For one thing, I really like RED Kick a lot more than normal Kyo's uppercut-kick equivalent. For another, I'm starting to like Goodbye Esaka more and more as I keep hearing it. =D (I almost picked Ash for lead even though he's like the worst lead-choice ever, just to have Second Joker as my 2P fight theme, no joke.) As far as sucking like hell goes, I actually wasn't doing too bad, especially with EX Kyo. I played 10 matches in the daytime and 10 at night yesterday, winning 1 each time. All 9 of my losses last night were against someone who had a decent connection, was just-enough better than me to face-wreck my team while still giving me room to keep trying, and didn't kick me. It was glorious. Kevin Kallback or something was the GT. I saved all 20 Replays; I need to record some of them and upload for critique. Several things I've noticed: 1) My composure tends to go to hell as soon as the actual match starts, and my fingers start flubbing. Any match where I'm actually performing inputs correctly displays a huge jump in competence. 2) While I do need to practice my hops, the netcode issues make 'hop control' a non-factor in most cases online. 3) I still need to watch the half-circle motions when I'm trying to do quarter-circles instead. 4) My aerial game is horrid, if not nonexistent. 5) I make much better use of my meter by using reversal supers than I do by using it for combos and EX-special approaches. I need to stop flinging EX moves to try to get in, so I have the meter ready for reversals. 6) There always seems to be that one move that, so long as you refrain from being completely predictable, a particular player will fall for every time. For the Kevin person it was Strike Arch, for example. 7) On that note, I need to learn where my own overheads are, particularly with Athena. Out of my team, I'm still playing worst with Athena, but doing the best with her, simply because no one seems to know how to play against her. =D
  12. Yea, Ruben... Seriously, what the hell. EDIT: Still looking for XBL and/or Tucson players.
  13. I keep seeing 3-bar connection rooms, that as soon as I enter become 2-bar. All of a sudden I can't pull off any of my shit. I mean, I entered a 3-bar room that got laggy enough that I couldn't perform Phoenix Arrow. Also, I really suck at this game. =P
  14. How do you even get ahold of that? Besides the obvious method. =P
  15. Oh yay, the ones I -don't- play. =P
  16. Come to think of it, is there anyone still here w/ the "community" (lol) that is also still here in Tucson?
  17. Fun Fact: Leona bounces during her taunt. I mean, hers are nicer than Mai's anyway, but she's the last character I'd otherwise expect to boob-flaunt to taunt her opponent, and I include Raiden in that statement. Come to think of it, King's grown-out quit a bit since the SNES era. I'd like to see her try to pull that "masquerade as a man" business NOW. Actually wait, no, I don't want to see that. She's sexy, classy, and confident, and she's finally happy about it these days. <3 PS: Yo Double Rainbow, did you end up changing your XBL name, and if so, what's the new one?
  18. Didn't you realize until now? Daddy issues = recording contract. EDIT: Yo, one of you folks log into LIVE tonight so I can see what I'm dealing with before heading down there with my mad KoF skillz (or lack thereof)
  19. I need to start actually going online with this game. Came back to it yesterday and I'm still just derping around with Arcade/color unlocks. I think I wanna change my team up though. I'm using Athena/Yuri/Leona because I just threw my 3 favorites onto a team, and there's several characters I might want to swap in there. Leona is the character I'm most comfortable with playing, in the game in-general, and I've been accustomed to Yuri's general moveset from way back, but the team doesn't seem coherent or simple enough for a first-learning team. And yet Athena is by FAR my favorite, even though I'm not as good with her, so she WILL be on my team without dispute. If I switch someone it'll probably be Yuri, just because Leona seems so natural and effective for me compared to, well, the whole rest of the game, haha. People I'm considering swapping in there are Kyo, Ash, and King. I have EX Kyo and I'm still undecided which one I'd rather play. Saiki's moveset is absolutely delicious to me, but I hate his character. Which is oddball since my motivation to play Ash is mostly because I love the bastard so much. =P ...Any suggestions?
  20. Hmm... I think I might try to see what I could do to get down there, actually. That is, if Ruben doesn't mind some creepy weirdo showing up. Well, one he doesn't already know, haha
  21. I have a car... just not the gas money. =(
  22. ...That's what it tells me on the Interstate signs. =P Yes! I still need to collect on that "listen to me rage all night" offer. =D Well said... I will make those words your last. Replicaaaaaaa! If I ever manage to get over there I need to remember to bring Samurai Shodown Anthology.
  23. I dunno, they won't have me over for some reason. Something about a 350-mile drive being too far to come pick me up. /cry EDIT: I have already completely forgotten how to play KoF XIII... or video games in general, apparently. BRB, getting destroyed by Arcade Mode on Very Easy.
