  1. If there were justice in the world it wouldn't be legal to make a four-seated car that goshdarn small. :P I kinda hope something else happens, like the acquisition of a bigger vehicle, or the sudden legalization of strapping competitive players to the roof. One car and a half out of Cookeville seems silly, though I won't complain too much if I'm still needed to drive. I'm really looking forward to this weekend, particularly in regards to playing casuals with people to clear up some gray area that has developed with Robot. While everything's steadily getting better, I find that I have an often stale mixup (though his is really simple anyway), my pressure is inconsistent, and I sometimes push some really matchup-unfriendly buttons in neutral. 2K is just not good vs Order Sol, lol. Also, vanilla Sol's 2D eats me alive if I try to beat it with anything. :C
  2. Speaking of which, does anybody here even play GG online? I'd love to play somebody not from Cookeville without having to go out of town, but I'm not sure how seriously people take it considering shitty netcode etc.
  3. The cat can just kinda take a nap on the spot for comparable meter gain... not that she has a comparable level 2 super, lol. ...Yeah, screw the rappa. Surely, All Stars would be tournament viable if the standard was Big Daddy mirrors on the practice stage, with no items. The mindgames! "Do I forward + attack 2, or do I down + attack 2? Do I pretend this is a game and use Super 1, or do I play the gritty realist and blow my load on Super 2?" It was great to see you guys. Totally worth cramming a bunch of half-willing Cookevillians into a Volkswagon for two hours and getting lost on the way. Getting rocked by Boomcube's Order Sol was educational. He makes pushing buttons to get out of pressure so dangerous, and not falling for any of my unsafe pressure BS has highlighted some things I need to work on.
  4. IIRC, Chandler's afk this weekend, but I'll try to round people up and go to things without him. Gamepro is not for humans anyway.
  5. Well, a spectator badge costs $20, and a participant badge is something like $40. If I'm driving, I'd have to stop for gas at least once during the trip there and once during the trip back, and it costs reliably above $40 to fill the bug's tank to full from empty, not even taking into account price fluctuations. Tertiary expenses (sharing a hotel room, food, perhaps parking, other unforeseen stuff) would optimistically be about $50+ (gut feeling estimate). Total, that's like, $150+ for me without help on gas, and that's if I don't enter. That's a hefty chunk of change for me, man. :C Am I missing anything?
  6. Yeah, we've totally proven that we can fit 5+ people in the bug, going to Final Round would be a cinch! I dunno if I want to go to Final Round yet, though. Kumite was expensive for me, Final Round would be really expensive.
  7. He's referring to the Skeletal brand of Minion, man. I learned quite a lot this past Saturday; this has easily been the best event (partly) involving the MTN group that I've been to. In tourneys before now, I hadn't really had a prolonged opportunity to play much beyond tournament matches, but this time there were more casual setups and I was able to play a lot of Gear. Thanks to the May player (whose name I forget) who convincingly bodied me in a tournament match, then gave me some excellent advice on the vs May matchup. I also think I found the Robot tutorials you were referring to, which have been immensely helpful thus far. Thanks to Klein for all the fun vs Slayer matches. The things Slayer can do still freak me out somewhat, but I feel a bit more comfortable playing against him. Thanks to Phil for playing a bunch of casual matches with me despite the skill difference (my ass feels like a pincushion, lol). They gave me a perspective on what I should expect the other player to be capable of doing in different matchups I was unfamiliar with, and exposed a lot of my unsafe play. Sorry to Milln for the awkward interview. Like I said, it's difficult for me to give a complicated answer to a simple question that's okay for documentary purposes and on the spot like that. I tend to freeze up in those kinds of situations. :C It was cool to hang out at your house later on, though I'm going to try to forget what happened after you went to bed(snrk). Papstr, ...keep being Papstr. Chandler, thanks for pushing me to get out of my comfort zone and ask people that terrify me to play casuals. GGs to Naimat, getting a perspective on the Johnny matchup was very useful. Hearing you say my frame work and fundamentals were okay really made my day. I know I've got a lot to work to do on Robot, though, particularly as it pertains to making my pressure and damage more efficient. 2K 2S 2D is completely see-through after a while, and there's better damage to be had elsewhere, too. I'll be trying to play GG as much as I can between now and next meeting to smooth things out.
  8. Fuggn... I'll try to come this Saturday. I don't have a TV to donate, but I'll bring my PS3 with Gear and Persona.
  9. I don't think I can give you any pointers that'd be particularly useful as I'm just getting used to the character myself, but I think the opportunity to trade tech would be mutually beneficial. I play some Chandler, but, slippery snake that he is, I usually can only get a precious few matches with him on Saturdays. :C [hint hint Chandler]
  10. Wednesday fight nights... in Cookeville? Badass! Also, I'd totally be willing to play Gear with people[get bodied] on PSN on not-Wednesdays; I need more matchup[everything] experience on Robot.
  11. More than a couple of hours in the back of Jackie's car? Ha Ha
  12. Started playing GG online because Minion sucks. It feels like I'm moving underwater. >> I'm learning things though. Training mode doesn't teach you how to play neutral, which I'm still clueless how I'm supposed to execute as Robot. I had no idea Order Sol could explode while he's charging, making "just run up and punch him" a bit of a non-option. Also, fuck rainbow blade.
  13. TK Missile on Robot makes me want to punch somebody.
  14. So you're taking me, right, Chandler? Nothing should be in the way since school would be basically out. ...right? :<
  15. Contributing ideas to a conversation is only possible if you aren't in the process of re-inventing the hand axe. Jackie I love this avvy. <3 <3 <3
  16. ^Welp. Who needs sleep, anyway? Not me. Nope.
  17. I know that. >> That they took away its invuln frames and gave it fatal counter means it was clearly meant to be used to supplement spacing, punish a whiff/throw, or make a big flashy damaging midscreen combo, so it's quite good even without being a dp. If they were to give the invuln frames back, they'd prolly have to take away all its other benefits and it'd still be sketchy, not to mention a different move altogether. ...While I agree with that concept, though, why was it so overpowering in CS1 that they had to change it, in the context of how it functioned against other characters? Did it make the Lambda vs Ragna matchup 9-1 or something stupid? The noob crutch is weak in this one, though, lol. I die to derpy approaches and blockstrings and all the time. @_@
  18. CS1 Lambda had invincibility frames on her gravity seed... and it was a pretty crappy DP what with its short range and only being available once every thirteen seconds. They replaced it with throw invuln which is useful against... Tager maybe? Bang if she's not too busy dying to half-assed overheads/lows? :< Obviously gravity seed is used for other things, but I like not dying. :P I dunno how BS that was in conjunction with everything else since I didn't play CS1, but I don't remember seeing her in S tier. S tier in CS1 was Bang and Litchi, yeah?
  19. Looking waaaaay forward to Nu toys on the murakumo units. Arksys, may we have the gravity seed dp back? Pretty please?
  20. Yesterday was awesome, as usual. Being around such talented people I have such immense respect for makes me determined to get better, but I'm a little frustrated with how much work it requires. I'm not even particularly sure where to go from here.... I could play a bunch of games like has been suggested to me, but, particularly in BlazBlue, I feel the knowledge I could gain from experience would be somewhat limited. Especially vs players like Chandler or Star, I only have a few seconds to decide on what I should or should not do before I make a mistake and am incapable of making such decisions for... basically the rest of the match, considering the nature and limitations of Lambda's close-up game. Could I have practiced the game more this past month? Yeah, but I'm not sure how much it would have helped. I guess I'm whining a bit, but there's definitely a mental roadblock there I need and would like to overcome.
  21. Guys. It's April 1st. ...I'm sorry.
  22. Chandler managed to get his hands on a converter for me, for which I'm very appreciative. I'm still horrible, but I'm looking forward to and working for Saturday all the same. :O
