Q&A about Joystick Building, Parts, and Purchasing
Lumiere replied to mr.mortified's topic in Hardware
My friend was surfing the net and stumbled upon this: http://www.ebay.com/itm/2x-PS3-PS2-PC-Arcade-FIGHT-STICK-Joystick-for-Street-Fighter-4-SONY-/160824455264?pt=Video_Games_Accessories&hash=item2571e27060 It's a PS2 and PS3 fight stick, and I was wondering if it's a good stick to buy (price-wise and quality-wise). Thanks in advance for answering! ^w^ -
Jellies and time-machines. jk. Before you read my story...Tsubaki is my main reason to play Blazblue. ... A friend of mine bought a used copy of CT for the Xbox his parent's friend had lent to them and he invited us over to play it. We instantly got hooked to the game. We loved CT because of what we called the "shortcut" keys and whatnot. We took quite sometime before transitioning to CS, however, because it lacked the "shortcut" keys and actually required true input for every move. One day, while watching CT videos Youtube brought me random CS videos, which I thought would be nice to watch. After hours of watching them I found Tsubaki to be my most loved character. It was then that I decided to convince my group of friends to play CS (because obviously, CT lacks Tsubaki)...and bought a used copy of it even when I lacked a console to play it...hah.

Budget-wise, it seems to be the best choice, too. Thanks for your input! I'll get to it when I can. -

Since I've already set my mind into getting a fight-stick...which one would any of you suggest? http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0057WDBHA/ref=oh_o00_s00_i00_details or http://www.madcatz.com/productinfo.asp?page=347&GSProd=3416&GSCat=130&CategoryImg=PS3_Controllers ? What strikes my curiosity the most is which one of those two button configurations are present in the arcade version of BB? Also, which one of those two are easier and/or cheaper to modify (mostly the plate so I can place my own artwork in there). I'd love it if you guys have any suggestions for a beginner fight stick besides the two I mentioned above. -
I live in Cary. I'm not sure if you can consider that the Raleigh/Durham area. I just updated my location so it's much more specific.

Is there a list of names and PSN's somewhere in this thread? If not, mind sending me a PM with your name since we're all fellow North Carolinian players?

Thank you all for all the info and tips...and yeah, patience is really golden especially when playing a Tsubaki and having your ass handed by Jins, Noels, and Hazamas. -

Alright, question time... If an opponent's launching projectiles at you... I.e Lambda's D or Jin's Icicles... what's a good move to use for approach/ pressure...? -

@Batousai Thanks for all the info and tips! If I get anymore questions I'll be sure to post them here. @Shruikon That's exactly what I did at near the end of my Blazblue session with my friends. I accidentally jump around trying to do the motions, but I can pull it off easier than pad. But those jumps cost me a good amount of health....Or even the lead of a match. Funnily, all of my friends use the analog stick to play and they have no trouble with it...But I can't simply because my hands don't like the positioning of the analog stick on a PS3 pad... -

Although I haven't joined any Netplay matches with Dustloop users yet, I guess it's a good idea to share my current struggles as a beginner Tsubaki player; based on matches I've done all day with friends on near level of my play. -Batousai's 5A > 5CC > 214214D > 623D > j.236D > j.214D > 2CC > IAD j.CC > 5C > 2C > j.CC > j.236A > j.214C helped a bit in understanding how to do a basic combo with a pad, but I'm still having trouble with the 214214 movement. This applies to 236236 movement when I try to finish a combo with it. I think I nearly broke the pad when I was trying to do these movements...>.> -Accidental 236236C's due to trying for 236C's isn't helping at all. -Learned today that j214C is really fun to use to push away foes and then get a bit of charge in. -22C and its variations are easy to do in a pad, but I should remind myself not to mash "D" when trying to do 22D. -I know 214C and its variations have uses of their own...but I haven't figured out what yet. --Also, does 214C have invincibility frames?... -Using 236C and its variations for "approaches" gets me punished a lot...I'm assuming they are mainly for use in combos...? -It's hard to know when to whiff, but I'm still in training wheels, so the more I practice the more I'll learn. I'll post more notes as I play. -
The silver one doesn't suck. It's just less worn out, hence the (probably) harder to press directional buttons. Just keep using it for a while, you'll most likely get accustomed to its feel. Don't worry about colors or anything. Unless you feel like it is an absolute necessity to change.
