People probably already know about this, but I haven't seen it documented anywhere so here ya go. You can do 5H(1) > 236P > RC > d.2P to summon the shadow midcombo and go into a mine UB off of that. It's a lot easier and less finicky than the S Drill > RC > SG(1) stuff posted in the combo pastebin once you get the odd timing for the RC down, at least in my opinion. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Fsx40P2HimY

Only options midscreen are drill and 2D ender if you want knockdown. 5P/2P > 2D 5P > 2P > 2D Starter > c.S > 2D Be wary of using c.S to combo into sweep like that unless you start from very close to them, as you are liable to get f.S instead, obviously. Don't worry about too much about throwing out sweep without confirming it like that despite it being -7 on block, as it is both jump cancelable on block and special cancelable into drills to make it plus. c.S > 5H(1) > 22S Starter > c.S > 5H(3) > 22H Starter > 2K > 2S > 5H > 22H These are just some examples of combos into either drill. Generally, you want to be very close to combo from c.S/2S into 5H, or have dash momentum so you can do Starter > c.S/2S > 5H, but you can use different ones depending on what character you're comboing, and you have even more possible routes if you get a crouching hit. You have to play around with these a lot on your own and develop a feel for what you need to do just by looking at the spacing of the opponent. The only way you're liable to get them back on the ground after an air hit by any circumstance is spending meter on sword super. Something like AA 6P > j.S > j.H 236236S You can also do something like drill > TK sword super in some situations but its a really tight link and probably a waste of meter. Very flashy though. In the corner, you can ground them with wallslide using either 5D or Shadow Gallery. You can combo into 5D using 2K RC, 2S RC, or 6K RC (probably not the best idea to throw 6K out randomly while solo though). 5D > 6 > j.S > j.H > j.D > c.S > 2S > 5H(3) > 22H or some similar variation is an easy combo to go for off 5D that ends in knockdown. Still playing around with Shadow Gallery as of now, but you can combo into it after j.D in the above combo, CH 6H, or by RCing any of your air attacks. Lot less practical than the above options even if you do get it to connect since it launches them so far away midscreen and doesn't wallslide long enough to crumple in the corner unless you make the first hit whiff, which is generally something you want the help of Eddie for. I guess you could maybe do something like 5D > ... > j.D > SG > RC > SG? Iunno

Zappa's dog is similar to Nirvana in that it has it's own dedicated button and you use it by holding directions and pressing said button, but Eddie does have the whole negative edging thing going on. It also seems easier to do the whole ground string with character > hit with dog back into another attack string deal with Zappa than Eddie, what with Mawaru not linking into itself on standing opponents without help from Eddie. Though, with Zappa's dog, at least you aren't totally screwed if it gets hit and whatnot, and you don't have to deal with moving it around with the stick in favor of using it's attacks to navigate. As for Eddie, I didn't mean he was awkward as in he was hard, but rather that just using his shadow feels really odd. I can learn to deal with using it, it's just that it's really strange following up its attacks most of the time, and it runs out of meter so much more quickly than the likes of Nirvana (though CS2 was certainly getting there >_>). -P- has so little hitstun, -K- has the whole second hit not hitting standing opponents thing to work around, -S- sends them far away and only has enough untechable time to follow up with a running jump attack or 2H (as far as I can tell), -H- takes a while to go into effect and uses the entire gauge, as well as requiring you to navigate it over to where the opponent will be, -D- uses a ton of the gauge... And, there's the fact that I hold a blind prejudice against unblockable resets (yeah, CS2 was not a good time for me...) I've looked through the guide for him on here, of course, but he's still awkward feeling to handle. I do think that I'll try him some more, but Zappa still really interests me.

I'm coming from back to GG from Blazblue, where I really enjoyed playing Carl a lot. Basically, after playing Carl I tend to always want to play the "puppet character" whenever possible, but so far Eddie isn't feeling right at all to me. Execution isn't a problem (I'm willing to learn to do his negative edging shenanigans and such, no problem), but controlling him and especially doing combos seems really awkward to me. I tried playing Zappa, and the dog summon seems to be more my style, but obviously I know I'm not always going to get to use it in matches after all. Any advice? Should I keep trying Eddie more, or would Zappa be a better fit? I'm sorry if this is the wrong place to ask this, but this is about more than one character, and this board is more active. Thanks in advance, all.

[CS2-CSE] Carl Clover General Discussion - Shota Shorts Edition
ForgoneMoose replied to Rishtopher's topic in Archive
I'm personally interested to see how Carl's character in the story goes, considering we finally get to see the results of the whole deal with Litchi from the end of CS. Overall, at least from the videos I've seen, Carl seems to have a voice more similar to his angry voice when fighting Relius in Extend, only against apparently everyone (correct me if I'm wrong, but it's at least against more people now). I'm guessing that he ends up not taking the news of Litchi's joining the NOL very well? This is probably a bit of a stretch, but he could end up becoming a minor villain of sorts, or rather an even darker anti-hero than he already is. His goal of taking down one of the story's main villains is basically one of the only few things keeping him firmly in the "good side" of the moral scale as it is. Then again, I'm probably just overthinking this. It's hard to hear my thoughts about this stuff over all the hype for how awesome Carl's going to be in CP, though :/ -
Has anybody done any experimenting with 623C (22D) > j.B > j.2C (4D) > j.C stuff besides me? Midscreen it can rival the damage off of 5C > 2D stuff with things like extended volante relaunches: 5B > 6B > 623C (22D) > j.B > j.2C (4D) > j.C > 4D hits > walk > 5C > sj.B > j.2C (421D) > j.B > j.B > j.2C > j.C (22D) > volante hits > 5C > j.B > j.B > j.C (623D) > brio hits > 6A > (6D) j.C > 6D hits > 3C And it is the best combo I can find in the corner when Nirvana needs to be teleported to you mid-combo, with an added bonus of generating enough heat to use fermata at the end even if you start at 0 heat: 5B > 6B > 623C (22D) > j.B > j.2C (4D) > j.C > 4D hits > backstep > 5C > j.B > j.2C > j.B > j.B (2D) > j.C > 2D hits > 5C > j.B > j.2C > j.B > j.B > j.C (623D) > brio hits > backstep > 2C > 214214D > 3C Or has pretty much everybody just adopted UB loops entirely pretty much? :/ Sorry if I notated either of the combos wrong.

[CP] Carl Clover Loketest Changes and Discussions Thread

The new 2C interests me. Maybe it will be possible to do j.B > Allecan > 2C to get the wall bound mid-combo? www.youtube.com/watch?v=__vHFxZlcYg&feature=youtu.be#t=0m38s Then again, I don't know how useful that would even be even if it were possible, and the Cantabile nerf kinda puts a damper on the whole idea. Worth trying at least, I suppose. -
got bored, made this: yay impracticality
-
may be old, but i found a combo that lets you hitconfirm into mahamaon in the corner surprisingly it's not very practical http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dg3_AZ_FOHs#t=1m31s

I noticed that there were no videos on the UB loop, so I made a really basic tutorial that will have to serve until someone makes a better one. Please, anyone feel free to tell me how I could make it better, by all means. Even if you just want to tell me that it sucks, go ahead! http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MGVe4VtNKdQ
