Heres what ive noticed these past few fridays. and i guess i just wanna throw out info out there for the newer people showing up recently. here it goes.... Hi new people! I dont have any idea how you found out about dustloop fridays whether it be this thread or from a friend or if your even reading this in the first place. I just want to throw out some tips out there if you decide to keep coming back because i believe you SHOULD be getting more out of your visits then you are at the moment. so here are some pointers out there: 1.Call next if you want play. -just like an arcade you put up a quarter on the machine to notify the people currently playing that you want to play the next 2/3 set. -you dont necessarily have to wait til someone is done and wants to take a break at 20 matches or so. if you want to play, then play. 2.When your playing, DONT be afraid to ask QUESTIONS. - we dont bite. we promise - we wont get mad at you or think of you as a scrub or anything ridiculuous like that but in fact, we appreciate it when you DO ask questions. because it shows that you care and want to get better. -none of us start out good at the game. remember that at one time we were at a point in our gameplay similar to you. -also, its not not necessarily the other players responsibility to give you tips and what not so they dont have to. but if you ASk. Almost ALL people will tell you. -whatever scrubby online troll, hater, bla bla bla experience you run into, dont assume that is the same case with offline meetups. the offline meetups are generally filled with people that CARE. 3.(this ones a bit tricky but read it carefully). Dont NOT play because your afraid to lose -even the best of the history of the WORLD will still lose in one point. if you are aware of the top street fighter player daigo umehara, in evo 2011 he didnt win a single round in a 2 out of 3 set and also got perfected in the last one by poongko before the top 4 qualifier for sf4ae, in front of a crowd, during the stream etc etc -dont worry about people watching. that SHOULDNT concern you (people dont pick this up right away actually. it requires a bit of mental training in a way so just hang in there). 4.Last but not least. Meet some new people, and most importantly HAVE FUN!!!!! -in the end, this is the reason why people come out to these offline meetings. -its just all the pieces that make the community that make it fun. -the experience is not describable by words, so jus stick around, keep in mind what i listed above, and just have FUN! sincerely, B-RAi -

Hi! its been a while is since i posted here. I have an idea for anyone else that still plays (or cares to play P4a) if you plan to take it seriously til evo. I actually stopped playing p4a shortly before SCR so thats the main reason why my visits have stopped. I also really wanted to dedicate more time into AE and its paid off ALOT. At least in san diego, i have every matchup on the roster to practice against . Anyways, here my current thoughts of the P4a scene here in san diego and a story to give some backround info and what not It's not that i dont like the game anymore but rather a financial situation, more strenous classes this semester, and the dying out scene for the game in san diego. I ended up playing P4 anyway at SCR simply bcuz i had already signed up for it so might as well. After 2 weeks of not touching the game and so forth. To my surprised i end up making it to losers semi's in my pool with xie placing me in losers during the 2nd round and then i climbed all the way back up. So, i guess overall i tied for 9th. What really upset me about that though is that i knew i could have done way better if i had more matchup experience against certain characters. Ive seen footage of aegis, talked to some people, but that wasnt enough. You would still need to play it first hand. And in my losers semis matched i played against kyoku?!(norcal teddie player? not sure. that might not be his handle either). And i lost simply because i had no frigging idea what to do against teddie. and from what i saw, teddie has alot of anti mitsuru tech. example:reversal j.B will beat out ALL options on mitsuru's 2AB feint 50/50. even the sweep itself. With this in mind i decided to head up to LA with shtkn and glod on the saturday right after to get some more matchup experience and what not. Then comes the crappy part.... School happens. Then work. Im currently taking human anatomy and physiology with o chem and microbio (good @#$%ing idea for me to take those all at the same time right). Thing is though i dont want to wait another semester to transfer. With that i also had to cut back on hours for work and i could no longer visit LA to get the matchup experience i needed. So to sum that up, SD scene for P4 was dying. And i couldnt go to LA nemore to play P4. So ultimately i just stopped. (@#$% netplay btw anyone could get master rank and still even if u filtered the options u still wont learn a whole lot from most ppl on it. of course there are exceptions but @#$%. lags sucks balls too :C). Couple months later, more people are coming out to dustloop sessions (not everyone enters the tournament) but now we have a good solid 11-14 people entering the weeklies? this honestly surprised the crap out of me. So i decide to stop by and i remembered how much fun i had playing this game when it first came out. It was a very good feeling. And i honestly thank you guys that still came out and support it. !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!Heres the idea though. This was actually suggested by ryan tang. i know some of you that want to play can make it out to LA often as well. THE ONLY THING WE ARE MISSING IS MATCHUP EXPERIENCE. We have the fundamentals. We know how to use our knowledge of the system to outplay other people. Also from what i saw, Im sure shtkn would have got much farther in the bracket if he knew more about the matchup yosuke during SCR. For those that are interested, why dont start learning an alternate? for the sake of teaching each other the matchups. I currently dont know how to approach a matchup vs aegis, teddie, shadow labrys. and im still uncomfortable against naoto. I currently have my eye on picking up teddie or aegis but im not going to go through with this if no one else wants to. And if no one wants to, well thats just the way it is i suppose. Anyways if uve bothered to read this large post. thanks for your time. just thought id post this to inform my current thoughts on where i did, and where i want to go with persona atm. -

Ive already been there once for AE. Its a nice spot. They have a big room which is basically an area that can realistically fit maybe 15-20 setups and theres a seperate room for stream equipment. So far its open on mondays with marvel tourney and thursday for AE tourney and sometimes fridays or any other day when ryan says he can open it up for us to play on the sdfightscene group on fb (if u want me to add u tothe group jus ask) . The goal is that itll be open everyday to act as a console arcade of the sorts. All games are welcome provided the setups are brought. Persona side tourney might resume on thursdays if there is interest and so forth. This is a huge step forward for our scene. Come out and support! New location is at 7969 engineer rd. Its basically an office like buiilding thingy behind pangea and lil further down the road right behind the korean bbq and sushi place. Hope to c u guys ut there sometime. -

next oceanside fight club event is this saturday if you guys are interested. the event was held off in the month of novemeber but they are back again. its held every 2 weeks. from wat i know, there are about 8-12ish P4A players in that area. Seems that there are people that play blaz aswell. ppl will play it as long as u bring a setup for it (i did see it once in person but im not 100% sure as to if they still go/ if they are dedicated players/ etc etc etc etc etc.). there are couple of guilty gear players as well if u play that. adress and everything is here at this link: http://ofcsd.com/faq tournies start at around 7 and end around 12 or even up to 2-3am. -

heyo! im heading up to atlus championships on saturday. i would like to give people rides but the problem is my car only seats 2 people. im going regardless but id much rather not have to pay a greater sum of cash for the gas money. so what id like to do is this. lets organize a last minute carpool. post up and list the area of san diego that you live in and if you are willing to drive(include number seats in your car please!) or even have a car that we may use to borrow(not likely an option i expect to see people bring up but doesnt hurt to try. i know about 3-5 people that wanna make the trip up (2 are a maybe). We can then meet up in a general area like a marketplace near the freeway or something and then roll out. and for people that dont have transport to a meetup spot then maybe we can work something out. General info: -Obviously we should all split the gas even. from the mira mesa area, it is about 36 dollars a round trip to LA (in the current gas rate for regular gas). i also believe its fair that we calculate the rate starting from the drivers own home. -Its 5 dollars to enter for each game and this time around there is no venue fee for this tourney in particular -Its dependent on the time you leave to LA i suppose but from my experience it was ALWAYS faster to take the I-15 when then exit 94 at beach cities because there was minimal to NO traffic when heading up to super arcade. But if we must take the I-5 (due to peoples locations and what not) i recommend we leave at maybe 9 in the morning or 1-2 in the afternoon to avoid as much traffic as possible. and i guess thats it for now. ill be texting people and asking wats up for the next day or so. whether people post up or not im going regardless. then itll be up to everyone else what they want to do. alrite. hope you that for those who want to go can make it! -

Hiya guys! for those who can make it i highly suggest you try coming out to this venue on saturday. http://www.ofcsd.com/home/m/4380548/article/1033597 -event details and address located here http://www.twitch.tv/ofcsd/b/310553307 -stream archive here if your curious at how the competition is or what the venue is like and so forth apparently its called the oceanside fightclub. i know tsuki already went there once. (correct me if im wrong) but i think its held in the first floor of the yahoo.com office building. apparently they get a good number of ppl coming. 15-20 ppl for the P4, KOFXIII, and SfXT brackets. and 30 or so for AE and marvel. so to sum it up. its fighting game venue. Mid to Southern SD county FGC has NEVER heard of it til recently. and its in oceanside..... who wouldve thought.... honestly whats in oceanside?!?!?!(no offense to anybody regarding this comment). anyways ill be going this week. hope you guys can make it out sometime -

@Kanan1400, @Coot just incase you didnt see my pms, Welcome to dustloop san diego! Hello! i saw your post(s) earlier this week and thought i could give you some info. There are generally 2 places in which the dustloop group in SD meets. -First one is every week on Mondays from 6pm-10pm. It is at the Pangea Bakery in Kearny Mesa. Its a weekly event called the "San Diego Saltmines". When you enter the bakery jus walk past by the the front counter and it is held in the backroom. It is accessible by MTS though i dont know the exact bus route i know that there is ALOT of bus stops in the kearnymesa/clairemont area. And there is someone i know that takes the bus to the Pangea Bakery so surely enough there is a bus stop near the bakery. If you drive it is advised you park on the streets on the side or behind the bakery as their parking lot only permits 2 hrs of parking. The games that are usually played here are P4A, SF4AEver2012,UMVC3. I guess on a good day we will have 8-12 ish ppl coming out for P4A -The second place to meetup is every week on Fridays at Shtkn's (unless stated otherwise. he will post it on the forum if something comes up). house PM: him for the address People usually show up around 7:30-8pm and maybe it ends at around 1am ish? This location is also acessible by MTS but i think that its probably about a 10-15 minute walk from the bus stop (dont know for sure). I dont know the route but there is a bus stop on the southern end of Genessee Avenue close to the 52 freeway. so i hope that helps. The games being played at this session is primarily (atm) P4A and BBCSE hope you can make it out sometime! -
