[CP] Hazama Gameplay Discussion [New members read first post]
Mo the Hawk replied to Lich's topic in Archive
Speaking of Orochi, has anyone tried any setups for landing it while in OD to surprise people with a reset and get that nice juicy damage boost? So far all I've found while messing around is a way to catch neutral techers and mashers after a forward throw w/ max level OD: Forward Throw > ODC (max lvl) > sj forward j.6D~D > 5C > j.C x5 > 66 5C > j.C x5 ... land on ground > 66 > 63214D6D Do the last set of j.Cs fairly fast so they air tech before hitting the ground. If they're neutral teching, they'll air tech right above the ground, and if they're mashing when they recover, the invuln on Orochi will eat through that. -

Do we have anything better than dash 2B > buffer into 5C > confirm into awkward air combo for catching back rollers after a close Ressenga knockdown? -

How do you actually catch people back rolling with 5D? I've tried several times on the training dummy but he always recovers in time to block. -
Copypasta from Tweeter: Colpevole: Thanks for the games this weekend, gives me a better idea of goals to shoot for. Your Valentine cosplay needs work, though. Also, I didn't think this was possible, but you beat yourself up even harder about losses than I do. Fuck mental blocks. "Pull your head out of your ass and play some goddamn football!" Shoutouts to Omex for letting all us filthy scrubs vandalize his room all weekend and exploiting the weaknesses in my shithead play Shoutouts to Kurumster and AnneIFrank for the legitimate Aigis MU exp I've been lacking since day one. Stand still and block for me, pls? St1ckbug: As a community organizer and streamer myself, I don't overlook your hard work for a second. The stress IS all worth it in the end. THANK YOU. Also pretty cool of you to just walk into 307 inject yourself in BB teams and body my scrub Haz. Anime Illuminati out to get me :p Shoutouts to Kid Viper for getting hype over me for no reason. "THIS DUDE KNOWS COMBOS? WHO THE FUCK IS THIS GUY!?!?" Also, I can't lie: I thought you were Chickzama first time I saw you. Shoutouts to Setsuna for being a solid roomie, the valuable Labrys MU exp, and turning heads by bopping LK in BB teams. Let's play more. Circuitous: Shoutouts to driving complete strangers such as myself to the Copa and back. Sorry I didn't tell you about the OTHER Copa Shaka/Yes06Kin: Nice to finally meet you, sucks we never played though. You booked the wrong hotel, brah! I'm free to those gimmicks - you should have done way more of them on me. See you at Frosty hopefully. Grover: Did I congratulate you yet? Oh well - good fucking shit. Don't go running around 5B'ing everyone with that sword, though. Also I don't suppose you felt death looming at any point when we played in teams and I was up a round? No? Little bit? ... OK. You also get a BONUS shoutout for using black magic to put a BB Jin OD combo in P4A Shoutouts to Diarmuid/Naotolololol/Naochii/Whateverthefuck for 2B'ing the world and for that P4A Empire-combo exhibition way too late Sat night. Shoutouts to Shyn - I had no idea who you were, Logic just told me BB casuals were happening in the room. But then you were super nice and helpful to a BB newb like myself when we played. Then I heard your name announced on the team in Winners Finals of BB and was shocked, lol. Nice to meet you, and I'll work on that Valk matchup. Shoutouts to Eshi for contributing to eliminating me from BB teams as fast as possible so I could play P4A the rest of the day :D Shoutouts to LordKnight for the casuals at the Copa. I'll stop tech rolling now... promise. Sorry I have to bail on the podcast this Friday Obligatory useless "shoutouts to everyone I didn't see or play but would have liked to" post goes here

[CP] Hazama Gameplay Discussion [New members read first post]

This probably sounds silly, but the most difficult thing I'm trying to get over is mixing up 2C with 3C. That is, when I want to do 2C, I end up doing 3C instead, and vice versa. Sucks screwing up your anti-air and getting CH, or dropping an essential part of a combo. It makes me wonder if I should switch back to my octo-gate... That and the fact that you need to be buffering microdashes like a fiend pretty much all the time - during pressure, during combos, etc. Need to build up my left hand's dexterity. -

Using the dash during the stance will automatically make his follow-ups lvl 2, so if you do it as fast as possible, it's a faster way to get lvl 2 follow-ups than just standing still for 51 frames. I apologize if there's some misinformation in what I just said; I don't actually have the game yet. But while playing with friends over the past few days, the only way I could get a lvl 2 Gashou after Houtenjin was to dash after the stance. -
[P4A] Chie Satonaka Vs. Naoto Shirogane
Mo the Hawk replied to Amadeus46Art's topic in Chie Matchups
Always jump ASAP and hold back for your 5D oki mixup. If Naoto DPs, the pushback will be too far for you to get a punish unless you jump over the counter shot. And Naoto is in Counter Hit state during the recovery of her DP even after it's been triggered, so you should get a full 5B > 2D or even 214C FC punish. Naoto can't super cancel her DP, so once it's out and you avoid or block it, it's free game for you as long as you get your punish in time. A really silly option in this matchup if you're afraid of wake-up DP is to DP yourself. You won't trigger her shield, and you'll recover faster for a punish. Also beats Naotos mashing wake-up throw tech. But I wouldn't use this against anyone except the particularly DP-happy players. Naoto's charged 2[C] is very plus - don't get frame-trapped after blocking it. 5C > 2[C] is a pretty common tactic, though, and if you correctly read it you can roll after 5C to avoid the 2[C] and get a punish. Same rules apply if she throws out j.D. AOA is punishable obviously... and Raid kick unless she OMCs it. Gun shots aren't punishable unless they're done point blank, which is pretty much never. The staple Sweep > Fangs A > Reload blockstring ender isn't PUNISHABLE, but you will have frame advantage, especially if you Instant Block the last hit, so that's a good time to try to take back the initiative w/ something like 5A. That's all I can think of off the top of my head for punishes... anyone else? -
It's more based on the height of the opponent's body. You can't reasonably react to whether or not you'll get that 5th hit. But if you're hitting them with Rampage B and their body looks too high above the ground, it's probably going to drop.

TFC Qualifier: Chicago Heart 5 - [August 30 - September 1, 2013]

I'm in there. Looking forward to the P4 and GG. (And Divekick if that side tournament happens) I'll also be bringing a PS3 setup if you need one, ShinSyn. And other P4 players are welcome to hop in my room at the Holiday Inn; I want to learn from the best. -
Hopefully not in this game.

I want to play as many Narukamis as possible this week. Any takers?

How would you guys suggest going about practicing reacting to guard cancels and staying safe from bursts? So many players try to get out of corner oki with guard canceling. I need to get used to hearing the sound effect for the guard cancel and then DPing on reaction. Not quite sure how I would reproduce scenarios in training mode for when the opponent decides to guard cancel at random moments. For bursts, I just feel like I'm missing a lot of opportunities to stay safe during combos or pressure by just holding back to block, or OMC'ing and blocking on reaction. I just need some environment to test this out with different burst timings.
-
This is EXACTLY what blew me up in pools and what I've been practicing reacting to lately. I originally tried to pay attention to Thanatos' hands to determine whether to block or jump, but Liz has some color palettes that make Thanatos' hands blend in with the rest of his body, so it's much more reliable to focus on Liz herself. Although Liz can OMC after 5C to obscure herself if she catches onto you doing this. In which case, I'm not sure what to do other than guess.

I played both RayJizzle and Grant at Final Round and UFGT respectively, and both of those guys are sick. Would love to see those two go at it.
