Hey Chicago. I want to put some info out there on what's going on at Galloping Ghost Arcade. Apparently people are under the impression there were venue problems or that they stopped hosting us or something. Except that now we have a problem where people apparently thought it wasn't happening anymore and turnouts are low, that's actually the opposite of true! It's still 6pm - 2am Fridays, we have a stream running consistently now, heck, Tony's is even back to being 24 hours. We're even slated to maybe get a larger space to work with, depending on how GGA expands in the coming months. So what we were hoping to do was keep UNIEL going strong at GGA while Ignite is the "general purpose FGC" venue, and as far as anime goes, the Xrd venue, while also running LCL stuff at Ignite so GGA could be focused more on UNIEL. LCL stuff is pretty much done for the time being due to low turnouts, but I want to bring that back in some form later on. For right now the hope is to get UNIEL weeklies going at GGA, but until we get the turn-outs to start doing that, we've been running UNIEL FT5 Casual Showcases on the GGA stream at twitch.tv/gallopingghostarcade for the duration of time a tournament would take up (and then whatever we feel like because i mean, we're there to have fun and we like to bring out some silly games, too. Y'all know this). Step 2 of that plan is, once we can establish weeklies, I want to start running monthlies featuring way more than just UNIEL. What are you hoping to see out of your anime venue? Feel free to give us suggestions. Highlighting BB again might not be the worst idea in the world after all, so I've been considering that; it seems like it may have only really died because of Kokonoe, and then seemed dead afterward because of Xrd taking attention from it at the same time as turnouts declined in general. TL;DR: You can still come out to GGA to play anime. It's been mostly UNIEL-centric, but seriously if you want to come play another game, someone's gonna be there who will.Suggestions please, if we can make it more worthwhile for more people to come out, I'd like to know how.

Are you ready for the longest series of errors? Welcome to the longest series of errors. GGA tournaments haven't happened for a couple of weeks due to low attendance. Last monday's Jackie Chan in Fists of Fire tournament was one of the biggest of the series. Here are those results: 1) MightyMar 2) Zephyr 3) Tigerfist 4) Terry 5) Devil 5) Crimefighter 5) Benz 5) Flying V 9) Blazing Nipples This Monday's IGL UNIEL tournament was streamed, so I don't have the bracket. I lost the bracket for IGL Asuka 120% Excellent Burning Fest Excellent but remembered and wrote down top 3: 1) Crimefighter 2) Zephyr 3) J-Money See you all for Trap Gunner next week??

Tonight's results: UNIEL Random 2v2 (5 teams) 1) Uhhhh fuck! (Crimefighter + NobodyEXE) 2) This is fine, this is also fine (The JGreatest + ShinSyn) 3) Just Weebs (John Benz + Scientician) 4) #GiveHydeEltnumsGun (Zerashi + Tigerfist) 5) Day 1 Double Gordeau (Agito + ZachInABox) Spaera (8 entrants) 1) LCL | BFH (Harland/Joseph) 2) Agito (Tsubaki) 3) Flying V (Leon) 4) Samstar (Joseph/Pone) 5) CPzL | Crimefighter 5) The JGreatest 7) Zephyr 7) EXP | Joey Deez Nuts

Small change of plans, we'll be running Spaera as the "Tetris" game because it's cool and I solved the technical issue that could have prevented running it in like two seconds. It's free and you can download it at the developer's site here if you want to see what it's about before the tournament: http://www.blazingorb.com/about-the-game/

whoops I should probably put down a few GAME SPECIFIC RULES: Jojo: Petshop is banned. duh. Every other normally selectable character is legal. Trap Gunner: J.Bishous is softbanned. If you want to suffer playing that matchup then be my guest, but you don't have to. Bosses are legal and Dyn is "fair Bishous" if you wanted to play that character. Also, first stage is random select and loser can counterpick stage. EX stages are banned, except for Sky Garden which can be selected only as a counterpick.

Until Evo, so people can focus on their main games, Link Card League is taking some time off. Featuring Chaos Code and another as-of-yet-undecided game, LCL will return after Evo. But there's no reason why we shouldn't have some fun AND try to solve the "what other game do we run" question in the meantime, right? Officially unaffiliated with LCL, I'd like to present a new series for the next two months; Road to PovertEVO! Week of June 1: Spaera (http://www.blazingorb.com/about-the-game/) Week of June 8: Jojo’s Bizarre Adventure (Capcom) Week of June 15: Ougon Musou Kyoku Cross Week of June 21: Jackie Chan in Fists of Fire Week of June 29: Samurai Shodown 5 Special Week of July 6: Gundam Wing Endless Duel/Asuka 120% Burning Fest EXCELLENT (Either or both; we're not sure yet) Week of July 13: Trap Gunner In the spirit of LCL, these are (mostly) legit games that don't have a good space for matches currently, but even so we hope and expect you'll play them seriously; we may run weeklies for one of these games after Evo if there's interest, after all. We're announcing the game list ahead of time so people can practice, and we chose the games making sure that if you want to practice, you can easily obtain the game to do so. Entries will be free and I encourage people to enter for fun as well.

Finals is going to be one week from today at GGA, if you qualified and are at GGA on 4/24 you can enter the bracket. If people can't make it, sorry, I did what I could. There will be MYSTERY POT BONUSES for top 3 (below me since I'm throwing them in). The list of qualifiers again for convenience is: Chaos Code: From IGL: BFH; Crimefighter; MightyMar; JVO; Thores; Duckator From GGA: RM Truth; Wilfooooooooooo; Fabama; Frankentank; Malice Aquapazza: From IGL: BFH; Grant; Crimefighter; ElvenShadow; Xerocool From GGA: RM Truth; Sima; Wilfoooooooo; Fabama

Yeah, I wanted it to be roughly the week after the Ignite ranbats finished (this last Monday) but probably sometime in the next 2-3 weeks depending on how long it takes me to reach everyone and ask what's up. If a particular day is good for you, do let me know.
-
I'm updating the standings post earlier in the thread to reflect the results in crimefighter's post above, which was the last tournament for LCL this season! I need to ask two questions now: What games will we be running next season? Keep in mind that the format will probably change so that we aren't running too many tournaments in a single day as UNIEL random 2v2s make their return. Game X at IGL and Game Y at GGA one week, then switched the next, until the end of the season. Chaos Code isn't going anywhere because I think everyone's liked it enough to keep it around, and with an update we're looking forward to on the horizon (at least sort of), it doesn't make sense to halt its momentum. However, taking Aquapazza's current place, we're considering a few other games. DFC makes the most sense to me, as it didn't really get much tourney attention at release, even though it sounds like we all enjoy playing it. The real question is if we want to run DFC (a real game that isn't as visible), or some jank bullshit. Suggestions are welcome for any other games! (Also I'm definitely figuring out a better points system next time, this one doesn't work so well.) Is everyone who qualified ok with holding the finals of this season at GGA? There are a few major benefits of GGA over IGL, most importantly stream time and being on a Friday (I assume people are generally more free on a Friday night than on a Monday night). If enough players would rather hold the finals at IGL then we'll do that instead! Ideally everyone who qualified is able to make it out. The players who qualified for the finals bracket are the top 4 plus anyone who tied for 4th in their divisions, as follows. Any overlap in IGL/GGA was sorted by having IGL results take priority and ignoring those players as GGA's qualifiers (as IGL is the smaller division and most of its top players are at the top of GGA's rankings anyway). Maybe I'm wrong but I figure it's better to let more people into the finals bracket than to trim people out arbitrarily. I can explain more if people wanna call bullshit on the qualifiers, but frankly the points didn't quite work out like I'd imagined at the start, and I'm improvising. Chaos Code: From IGL: BFH; Crimefighter; MightyMar; JVO; Thores; Duckator From GGA: RM Truth; Wilfooooooooooo; Fabama; Frankentank; Malice Aquapazza: From IGL: BFH; Grant; Crimefighter; ElvenShadow; Xerocool From GGA: RM Truth; Sima; Wilfoooooooo; Fabama

Hey y'all, it's the results for IGL this week. Chaos Code NSC (6 entrants) 1) BFH 2) Duckator 3) Crimefighter 4) Jason 5) Tigerfist 5) Stupidninja Aquapazza (3 entrants) 1) BunniesFromHell 2) Crimefighter 3) ElvenShadow

Whoops, super-delayed results post. IGL UNIEL beginners tournament had 12 entrants, and it seems to have been an enjoyable event. Glad to have run it, and apologies for it running so slow! Busy busy night. Looking forward to the GGA tournaments for CC and AP again though, I'm really glad with the enthusiasm these games are getting with regular tournaments.
-
You got it. Which character are you playing? It was Wald last I asked but idk if it's changed I saw Hilda on twitter, nvm
-
Link Card League kicks off with about as many entrants as I expected for the first one! I'll be running the same games at GGA, on a separate ranking list, and we'll have a finals bracket among the ranking winners of both venues at the end of the season with pot bonuses (probably befitting of a free tournament, but pot bonuses nonetheless). I'm still not quite sure yet if the end of the season is going to coincide with the end of the IGL ranbat season or with a GGA monthly, but I'll announce that once it's all figured out. Here are the results for 2/23: Chaos Code NSC (3 entrants) 1) BunniesFromHell (Hermes) 2) MightyMar (Kagari) 3) CPzL Crimefighter (Cait and Sith) Aquapazza (4 entrants) 1) BunniesFromHell (Karulau) 2) CPzL Crimefighter (Manaka) 3) MightyMar (Tamaki) 4) JVO (Arawn?) I encourage everyone who's interested in CC and AP to enter these tournaments even if you're still learning. They're free and you'll get ranking points regardless of placement, plus you get to play these great games! Chaos Code is its own reward.

I will definitely want to get some games in for not Xrd.
-
Hey y'all, it's the results post: insomnia edition. Today since Xrd just came out and organizationally we're in a bit of chaos, the 2v2s weren't 2v2 and we did some fun stuff in addition to a single elim Xrd tournament. Next week... I'm not really sure what it'll be yet, to be honest! I have some people to talk to, so more on that later. For now, your standings. This is gonna be a long one. DFC Assist Roulette (7 entrants) DFC tournament where assist is determined by random number generator. 1) Brightside 2) MightyMar 3) Crimefighter 4) BFH 5) Kazmer 5) Fabama 5) Teo SURVIVE! (17 entrants) Xrd Mission #11. Ramlethal is out for blood. Don't get got. Winners determined by whoever succeeds more times out of the set of 5 that the mission makes you do, or by sudden death in the event of a tie. 1) Fabama 2) Woocash 3) Kizzer 4) ChosenNinja 5) Kazmer 5) Super Axl 5) MightyMar 5) Wilfooooo 9) Joey D 9) Flying V 9) Bob Washington 9) Jason 9) JustOwnin 9) Teo 9) Scientician 9) Crimefighter 17) BFH Xrd (24 entrants) These results look pretty funny next to the SURVIVE! results. Just sayin'. 1) Bob Washington 2) Scientician 3) BFH 4) Jason 5) Bzerk 5) MightyMar 5) Flying V 5) Woocash 9) Joey D 9) Super Axl 9) ChosenNinja 9) Kyle 9) NCV 9) Teo 9) Brightside 9) Heroic Legacy 17) Wilfooooo 17) Fabama 17) Tigerfist 17) Kazmer 17) Kizzer 17) GreedyChun 17) Exia 17) Crimefighter

Shin's got another very good point, assuming there'll be GGXrd weeklies. Putting everything together, DFC/AH3LM/AC+R at IGL on Monday with UNIEL/P4U2 at GGA on Friday might not be a bad way to handle this. I'm probably going to make a better list of options and make a strawpoll at some point or whatever.
-
Option 4 and probably the one I'm going to go with after some deliberation on precisely what it entails) it didn't occur to me because I was treating the 2v2 as a completely separate thing from GGA that we could very well do UNIEL and P4U2 (and whatever else) at GGA as we have been, and run 2v2s at Ignite. As of right now that probably means: Monday nights, 2v2s for any/all of AC+R, DFC, Xrd (AH3LM? it's too dead to sustain 2v2s unless people make an effort to pick it up) Friday nights, singles for UNIEL and P4U2, maybe Xrd if it edges out P4U2 and then we move P4U2 over to Monday nights, I really don't know right now.
-
I'm debating adding GGAC+R to the 2on2 rotation, but that depends on the plan for when GGXrd hits, as I'd like both games to survive. BBCP is definitely out of the rotation in the future in light of extreme distaste among the playerbase for 2.0, this on top of local general distaste for 1.1 and lack of enthusiasm for 2.0. As I see it, we'll probably have to increase the size of the rotation. I've thought of the following practical choices, and I'd like to hear some opinions about what everyone would prefer. In all likelihood, UNIEL and P4U2 are staying in the rotation no matter what else we do. They are incidentally next week's games, so the rotation is currently not affected in any way, but it'll change soon (as early as next week). Option 1) The rotation becomes a 4-game rotation, with DFC added as well as one Guilty Gear game, Xrd (if I change this early on, AC+R until Xrd's release). a) The rotation is played out exactly as before, swapping one game out and one game in, except now we have four games. This means each game has two weeks of downtime, but retains the current structure of two weeks of uptime. b) The rotation is handled a little differently, running one French Bread game (UNIEL and DFC) alongside one ASW game (P4U2 and GG) each week. Each game has one week of uptime, one week of downtime. c) We run more tournaments. 3 games a week, with only one game sitting out each week. Each game has three weeks of uptime, one week of downtime. Option 2) The rotation becomes a 4-game rotation, with both GGAC+R and GGXrd added to the rotation. a) The rotation is played out exactly as before, swapping one game out and one game in, except now we have four games. This means each game has two weeks of downtime, but retains the current structure of two weeks of uptime. b) The rotation is handled a little differently, running one non-GG game (UNIEL and P4U2) alongside one GG game (+R and Xrd). Each game has one week of uptime, one week of downtime. c) We run more tournaments. 3 games a week, with only one game sitting out each week. Each game has three weeks of uptime, one week of downtime. Option 3) The rotation becomes a 5-game rotation, adding all three of DFC, AC+R and Xrd to the rotation. a) The rotation is played out exactly as before, swapping one game out and one game in each week, except that now we have a whopping FIVE games. This means that each game has THREE weeks of downtime, and two weeks of uptime. b) The rotation is handled a little differently, running two non-GG games (Rotating between UNIEL, P4U2, and DFC) alongside one GG game (+R and Xrd). c?) there are so many ways you could do this. i guess you're allowed to voice your opinion and tell me i should change which GG is on according to whether it's snowing that day, or include DFC only when someone died in an anime this week to honor their memory, or something else that i won't do, but i'd really rather not go into that right now. this is a rough time in my life ok. please understand For my part, I generally see option 3 as kind of awful considering this is a weekly one night event that's intended to allow each game to retain its momentum over a long period of time. However, GGXrd is NOT a direct replacement for +R, and I'd personally like to see it treated as such. DFC meanwhile is picking up steam as a fun game that we seem to be enjoying, even if it's not one that many (if any) of us are playing as our main game per se. DFC also strikes me as particularly in danger of losing its momentum, and I'd very much like to prevent that if everyone would like to keep playing it. This is a hard choice and I frankly don't want to be the only one to make it. Also there were no tournaments outside of NANI SORE this week, so no results. (Also I played Rina assist the whole way through Aquapazza, and I might have picked Kamyu one time, I forget, but I remember thinking very very hard about doing it.)
-
h-hey everyone, it's time for a special pre-weekend results post going into NANI SORE? Featuring possibly my worst tournament performance to date. You've been heard. This week we'll stick to the current rotation and going forward I might change that up. I'd still want to figure out a few things about that before I change things. (also I kind of worry it might kill off BBCP for real)
