  3. (CTY's results post, crossposted from the Chicago FGC FB group.) We mixed things up last night at Ignite by celebrating the North American releases of AH3LM and P4U2 by giving away a brand new copy of each game!! Brightside was the lucky winner of both games as he worked his way through two thirteen-player beginner’s tourneys. Special thanks to Christopher L Johnson for donating a copy of P4U2 as well as for running both brackets as well as Lloyd Gronkowski for providing two unwound VHS copies of the immortal film classic "Space Jam" for the runner-up players (Jon was ecstatic). Below are the complete results: AH3LM 1) Brightside 2) Exia 3) Kazmer 4) Teo 5) Callisto 5) Yanu 7) Ronaldo 7) Spidey Mike 9) CarolBrady 9) Marr 9) Wired God 9) WLA The Giver 13) MoxXie P4U2 1) Brightside 2) MightyMar 3) Kizzer 4) Marr 5) DaBoost 5) Some Random Black Guy 7) Callisto 7) Ronaldo 9) CarolBrady 9) Max 9) MoxXie 9) Super Axl 13) SpideyMike
  4. Hey y'all, it's this week's random 2v2 results post, but instead of making some kind of crack about Grant being the final boss or something, I've got an announcement to make! Next week, instead of the usual random 2v2 rotation, we'll be running beginner's tournaments for each of the new releases this month. Arcana Heart 3 Love Max and Persona 4 Arena Ultimax (P4U2) will be featured. These tournaments will be free entry as usual, and open only to players who are not established in each game, with copies of each game on the line for the winners! CTY has volunteered a copy of AH3LM, and ShinSyn has volunteered a copy of P4AU; this event couldn't happen without their generous contributions, so be sure to thank them! The week after next, the rotation will continue as usual with BB and UNIEL. And now, this week's results. P4U2 (6 teams) 1) Mocha Latte (Grant + MoxXie) 2) Senpai Notices Agito (ShinSyn + Mike Banks) 3) Sea Salt?????! (BunniesFromHell + Vince) 4) Team Junes (Wiredgod + Zerashi) 5) Tiger Shot (DaBoost + Teo) 5) Don't Own This Game Yet (Kazmer + Heroic Legacy) BBCP (6 teams) 1) DP RC DP (ShinSyn + Teo) 2) Top Tier White Guys (Grant + Kazmer) 3) Keepin' It Stylish (Zerashi + Heroic Legacy) 4) Pro Heuxes (MoxXie + Exia) 5) Alexander Hamilton isn't enough to pay for my Taco Bell (Mike Banks + Callisto) 5) Ghost of Woocash (Vince + Wiredgod)
  5. Hey everyone, it was pretty fun attempting to get ASW to patch out the Junes theme yesterday. But apparently all of us are the real demons? How edgy. It's the 2v2 results. (we accidentally deleted the UNI bracket after we were done without writing the results down, so I only have the top 3 right now, if anyone remembers being 4th place let me know) UNI (5 teams) 1) Bayolante Double Dash (BunniesFromHell + Exia) 2) Smash is a real fighting game (Duckator + Kazmer) 3) Susbus (ShinSyn + NCV) ?) 6. Hi everyone, I'm seriously exhausted, but ANIME NEVER SLEEPS. Here's the results from last night's random 2v2s, and as a reminder, next week will be UNI (8:30pm) and P4U2 (9:30pm). If there's anything we can learn from these brackets, it's that RektLunas has godly luck, and also that I'm rigging the brackets and must be stopped. BBCP (6 teams) 1) I Got Rekt (as a teammate) (BFH + RektLunas) 2) Anime Crackhouse (ShinSyn + Fabama_V) 3) Stylish Injury (Wiredgod + Domecutter) 4) J-Money's Donkey Dicks (Kazmer + Crimefighter) 5) RIP Efo (Mike Banks + Zerashi) 5) 1987 Crystal Light National Aerobic Championship (CTY + Exia) UNI (6 teams) 1) Aaron's Lost Pad (NobodyEXE + RektLunas) 2) GRD Breaker's Revenge (ShinSyn + BFH) 3) Lloyd no Gachimuchi Pants Wrestling (CTY + Exia) 4) Puyo Puyo no Uta -Again- (Crimefighter + Zerashi) 5) Team Toilet Tier (Mike Banks + Jason) 5) Team Top Tier (Teo + Kazmer)
  7. Oh, oops, I'm a little late to this again, but here's the results for the BBCP 2v2 that we ran alongside the P4U2 2v2 last night. Glad the turnout was still fairly strong for BBCP, all things considered, especially since yesterday's gathering had a fairly low turnout in general. As a reminder, next week's tournaments will be BBCP and UNIEL, and in the interest of having a little less overlap, we'll start those at 8:30pm and 9:30pm respectively rather than both at 9pm. Also, shoutouts to the ghost of Fabama. 1) MUDHOLE STOMPERS (Shinsyn + Alex) 2) April Fools, Mike Banks' ponytail is mad decent (BFH + Mike Banks) 3) The hockey men (Flying V + Fabama) 4) Team Pussydrill (Crimefighter + J-Money) 5) Anime is Wrong (Duckator + Marcos) 5) fite us irl 2v2 we'll rek u m8 (CTY + Zephyr)
  8. Hey y'all, it's a bit late, but here's the results from our first-ever two-game anime random 2v2. As a reminder of the rotation, next week we'll be running BBCP and P4U2, and unlike this week's, one will be starting before the other for smoothness' sake (at Noah's discretion since we'll probably be streaming P4U2). I'll post more about that later in the week after we've talked about it a bit. This week though, Mike Banks saved the day in UNIEL and J-Money carried a bye all the way through the finals in P4U2. UNIEL (7 teams) 1) Solo YOLO (nobodyEXE + Mike Banks) 2) Patrick Kane, the basketball hockey baseball player (Kazmer + Zephyr) 3) The Under Night is dark and full of terrors (Crimefighter + ShinSyn) 4) I'd rather be playing Yosuke (Zerashi + Exia) 5) Get hit by Linne and cri evrytiem (CTY + Chris R) 5) Pokemasters (J-Money + Teo) 5) Notorious E.X.S. (MightyMar + Fabama) P4U2 (7 teams) 1) J-Money and his good friend, Bye (J-Money + Exia) 2) Alex's massive stash of robot porn (nobodyEXE + Crimefighter) 3) Shotime at Sho's Titty Bar (CTY + Teo) 4) Giant Size Man Thing #1 (Fabama + Da Boost) 5) Salt and Peppah (Carol Brady + Zerashi) 5) Bears and Arrows (wiredgod + ShinSyn) 5) Febreeze Bros (Chris R + Kazmer)
  9. Anime was a little dead today, apparently everyone overslept? But we always have enough people to do a random 2v2! Not to mention, there's a bunch of people coming over from other games to try out UNIEL on the open setups. Senpai is beginning to take notice, everyone! At any rate, here's the results: 1) Call us for a good time (Adolfo + BunniesFromHell) 2) Orie's Workout Tape (CTY + Jason) 3) GGs (Garbage + Guyver) 4) Stone Cold Lock of the Century of the Week (Kazmer + Callisto) 5) Started from Street Fighter now we're here (Chris R + Zerashi) 5) Yosh-senpai noticed us! (Never.) (Exia + King of Bums)
  10. Hey y'all, it's another UNIEL random 2on2 results. Now (as good a time as any) also available on Dustloop! 1) Thick Asians Squad (ChosenNinja + Von) 2) Lizard Friends (Crimefighter + Mike Banks) 3) Fuck Merkava (XAQ + MoonyBlues) 4) Team Liquid... Hot Magma (TL|Haku + TL|Jason) 5) Monday Tuesday Wednesday Thursday Friday Saturday Sunday (Jerome + Big C) 5) Cool Tapes (Kazmer + Zerashi) 5) Reaper's Elbow (Shinsyn + Lasombra) 5) Bed and Breakfast with Merkava (Nude) (Orka + Adolfo) 9) Not Safe for Work Mondays (Teo + Lt Radczek) 9) Fuck Linne (Snoffles + Grant) Another pretty even set of teams, what the heck? After this much good luck, they'll be completely rigged next time, I'm sure of it. This tournament was really goofy, shoutouts to Doug getting carried to victoly, Chaos on the second place team, and Fuck Merkava successfully defending top 3 from Akatsuki (shoutouts also to Haku for almost getting Akatsuki to third place), not to mention that there was a first round match between Fuck Merkava and Bed and Breakfast with Merkava (Nude). Hope to see everyone next week!
  11. correct, except that you can hold the button for maximum duration and the stance cancels itself with someone targeted.
  12. i thought about this too but i'm not really sure why you would bother. it'll create a gap in the string, and while positive it's difficult to take advantage of it. making a gap isn't an inherently bad thing but 5C does that anyway at less of a gap, fatal counter, and forward movement. cancelling out of 5C will probably get you punched or let them out unless they were going to patiently block and would've let you do something more ambiguous anyway. i've been meaning to try using it to prevent people from just laying on the floor but i doubt it works, just seems too slow.
  13. not sure about it not being head property honestly, it seems like that doesn't matter. you're not invincible during a j.D so the anti-air usually just hits you if you try that. 2C is not special cancellable. was mostly referring to GETB and houtenjin with the risk not being worth the reward. jin's 623C is much scarier than you might think it is as well. generally speaking, characters who even have the option are much better at dealing with pressure than she is, and swinging things into their favor tends to be a very big deal when the punish from bullet isn't very likely to do much damage. basically, if they're not in the corner and bullet doesn't have H2, they'll be playing the guessing game but they won't have much reason to be scared of guessing wrong. 3C isn't drive cancellable, but can be cancelled on block into specials. i'm pretty sure it's unpunishable but negative on normal block, punishable on IB. ideally you get the counterhit and hard knockdown and go into a combo from that. as for going under reversals, no, i can't think of any this would work for.
  14. i'm too scared to try this, i just don't do 2B and jump cancel 5B instead if i'm baiting them.
  15. oh pffffffff yeah, i don't know how i forgot about that. i think i might've been thinking more "normals" than "moves" because of the 5C frames rumor thing. pretty sure that's the only one. to answer some of the other stuff you listed: -j.D beats AAs very easily only if done out of their range. if you were in range you'll just get hit every time. -2B 5C is so not airtight that it doesn't combo (this may just be true on standing, but 2B hitting a croucher is unlikely unless it was a counterhit). 2B only combos into 5B, and i don't think that chain is airtight on block. 5B 5C definitely isn't. in fact, i'm pretty sure the only chains she has that are airtight are repeated 2A/5A. -no one i play against backdashes after blocking 2B. i imagine 2B 2C would do alright for beating this, but no one really does it. something else to consider is that 2C is very unsafe on IB. the most common answer i see to bullet pressure is to patiently barrier her back out, and it's very effective. lots of people just mash out DP or reversal houtenjin or whatever. certain reversals make bullet's 5C pressure completely useless in some matchups (once they have meter or otherwise) because the risk just plain isn't worth it.
  16. for what it's worth, i went CT noel -> CS arakune -> CS2 lambda -> EX ragna -> CP bullet. ragna's footsies makes the ragna suggestion make some sense, bullet's 5B isn't quite as good but it's a good comparison to ragna's. but there are some other parts about bullet that make ragna not as close. she's much slower for one, sadeyo already mentioned this, but also bullet has a much worse anti-air and DP, so you have to generally play way more patiently. although arakune and lambda might not be similar characters at all, i feel one of the most important things is being used to not having a solid answer to being pressured, so playing a character without a DP definitely helps in the long run. outside of ragna, i'd recommend platinum, maybe bang or noel. noel in particular fishes for hits going under the enemy's move with 3C, which bullet can do as well, and it's really valuable in some matchups where she gets zoned by normals rather than projectiles.
  17. oh. well that explains that, we're all learning here haha. crush trigger in combos is good on most characters if they can stick it into the combo early, bullet's seemingly a little worse off for that since she does over half her combo damage on the most common hits that set it up. i'm thinking about using it as the first or second hit of a DP punish combo, not sure exactly what yet but should be good. i've been using it if i don't feel i need the meter for anything else, in combo starters like H2 5DD 6A 236[A] 6A A+B, but the damage gain is just alright.
  18. no moves change property with heat up besides drives, specials don't actually change either, just that you get the followups. 5C is the same always as far as i can tell, but it's also always really good. j.D and 5D gain advantage with more heat, with no heat they're punishable but otherwise very safe on block and tend to invuln through DPs for some reason. can't explain why that happens, but meaty 5D will actually cleanly beat reversal houtenjin sometimes. 5C is about neutral, never punishable on block, BUT does have a gap inbetween any normal that chains into it, so vs hazama/tager/etc characters with stupid reversals you need to be careful. 623C is unblockable. anti-air purposes are limited by wonky hitbox/startup/etc though, needs to be carefully aimed. i used 623B as a burst read once and it didn't really work out, other than that no. the scaling is horrible, off of 623B RC you barely get 5B 6B j.CD. even off of the wallslam followup, even with H2, you get 5B then they tech.
  19. that'd be me. i used to go by necrosis from about 2006 to 2011, i'm originally from chicago and currently studying in japan. i've won smaller tournaments here and there so i can argue that i don't suck, but i'm not a top player by any means. i'm very willing to answer whatever questions people have, clear up stuff, whatever's fine. i'll be paying attention to the thread for a while as well.
