For some reason I highly doubt the prototype Sol design would look even half as good in motion as the current Sol design/art style. Xrd's graphical impact is best demonstrated when moving, and that impact is intense to say the least. I hate the roid shoulders as much as anyone, but that 3D prototype Sol model almost looks like it belong in SS4. I'll take the awesome cel shading and classic Sol-style costume thanks The hair definitely looks better on the prototype though. That much I will admit. -

I desperately want Gabriel to be playable. Dude's got so much going for him: - Important story/world figure (Zepp Mechanized military FTW) - Potemkin's mentor and Slayer's rival - GG could finally have a dedicated grappler that can dash (something like KOF Clark + Bullet) - Dat 'Stache I'm all for new characters, but I when I see bizarre constructs like Bedman (or even ABA ffs), I become slightly unenthused That man would be sweet. Lemme stomp some scrubs to the sweet sounds of my evil harpsichord. -

So, I don't know if this has been mentioned before, but did Hammerfall lose super armor? I was watching Goldenrody's latest upload, FAB vs. Mugen. At around 5:42, FAB F.D.B.'s gunflame for a counterhit, then immediately does hammerfall but is stopped by Sol's 5K. I watched it like 10 times at 1/4 video speed just to make sure. Well, I just watched the Roi vs Fab best out of five "final" match. Goddamn. That hurt. Roi was freaking on fire (like holy sh!t), but man I hate seeing FAB lose, though he freaking tore Roi up in the second match. I'm not one to "seriously" complain about balance and all that, but when Sol can do 2-3 Fafnir's IN A ROW and still be in range while Pot gets pushed out after like 3-4 BnB hits, then I get salty. And then you have the fact that Sol can actually capitalize off Fafnir's tumble-effect, while Pot's 6H just blasts the other guy out of his range. That said... GODDAMN THAT WAS ENTERTAINING. First pro match I've ever caught live and it was so hype. -

This, most definitely. I had never seen someone do such insane things with a GRAPPLER character until I saw FAB's Accent Core (+R) Potemkin. I honestly cannot wait for ArcSys to wise up and actually give Xrd Pot some new/old/USEFUL tools and see what FAB can do with them and the RC system, because ICPM and that f*cking Flame Pillar aren't going to cut it, considering the most I've consistently seen is Hammerfall YRC >> Pot Buster and maybe a few clutch ICPM's. -

Watched some of HEVEN's Venom gameplay recently. Really entertaining. I'm starting to think Venom and Millia are my favorite characters to watch now that FAB is trying to fight his way out of the low-tier shithouse. -
I have to say though, the drums in Potemkin's and Axl's new themes, while still not a defined as I would like, kick some major ass. Perhaps it's due to the general quality of the rips that are floating around the internet. Hopefully the official ost release will be better quality. Listened to Faust's theme a couple times today. I, for one, pretty much love every single track (some more than others, but that's always the case), but I'm starting to think that Faust's theme really doesn't suit him, mainly because I'm getting a really strong Jam vibe from it. Seriously, listen to it, especially the chorus, and it definitely has that "oriental" flare to it, which is probably unintentional, though it makes some sense seeing as how Faust is Chinese (I think). Even the main riff has the same rhythm that Babel Nose had, just remove the piano bit and it becomes even more apparent. It's just missing that essential touch of insanity/wackiness. Still love it though. Still, seeing as how good the overall soundtrack is, I can't wait to hear the new/remixed version of all the characters who still have yet to make it in. For better or worse, Daisuke's current work is definitely on a much grander/heavier scale than before and has seemingly moved away from the rawness of the older tracks, but just think of what that means for epic themes like "Awe of She" or groove-tastic tracks like "Liquor Bar and Drunkard". Using Ky and Sol's new themes (grand vs. heavy, respectively), I can hardly wait.

Individual voice toggle would be amazing. I love getting to pick and choose, especially since some voices always end up being far better/worse than their opposite. I'm mainly a dub guy, but man, I absolutely adore the JP voice for Azrael in BBCP. My god the man just goes non-stop full ham. Also, I'd bet a large some of my nonexistent money that Daisuke will voice Order Sol when he becomes a "super-special" dlc character. People would eat that up. I know I would. -

Fine. Though I don't see how that question is somehow irrelevant to Xrd. I asked because those reasons may very well become important once the console release hits. This is the first time an entirely new GG has been released in god knows how many years. "How/what got you into GG" is a very important Xrd related question, now that GG has not only an entirely new system and mechanics, but a slick new coat of paint as well, all of which are much more important to getting new players hooked than which moves are no longer cancelable. It was more an attempt at promoting speculation on Xrd's potential popularity than anything else. But whatever. You're the boss. Won't happen again. On topic: Based off gameplay vids, does Zato have lower health than Chipp? And has this always been the case? -

I mean, from what I've seen, it doesn't even hit on the sides. Ralph in KOFXIII basically has the exact same thing, only it comes out faster, has 2 sizes (smaller is quicker), both are cancelable with other specials and they have a hit box that hits in the air AND the sides. They obviously weren't drinking the good stuff, otherwise they would have just given Potemkin Magnum Opera as a normal, unblockable normal move like Ralph's Galactica Phantom. Would've been hype/yolo/risky/swag/badass as f*ck. But 6K really does seem like the miracle cure. FAB and Konsome started making really good use of it once they rewrote their muscle memory now that 2S no longer vacuums. It does hurt though, as Pot's combo option seem so... lacking now. Get in, put in 3-4 hits, finishing with 2D, get pushed out of range, get back in, rinse and repeat. -
I've got to say, I REALLY like Millia's new theme. Definitely has some "Irony of Chaste" flavor to it, but the entire song never gets stale. From beginning to end, everything about it is just... refreshing. Potemkin's theme is nucking futs. Seriously, if I can't get Burly Heart II, I'll sure as hell take the new one. It's the holy fusion of In Slave's Glory and Burly Heart.... "Heart of Glory" sounds good to me. Slayer's theme is just ear sax omg.

Knew I'd get reminded of that. I should know better, been lurking dustloop for long enough to remember that much. So, if anyone cares to answer, out of all the "new moves" (completely new or modified) characters have received, anyone have any favorites or see any as completely useless? As previously mentioned, it SEEMS that Potemkin's flame pillar is utterly useless given he already has heat knuckle and HPB. ICPM is funny as hell though and makes for some cool reversals when Pot comes flying across the screen. Seems people are still getting used to it. -

Well now I know why ArcSys decided to nerf Potemkin into the ground. That theme of his is just too OP. You know, as small, Japan-centric and overloaded with work as Arcsys is, you would think that by now they would find a way to get their soundtracks up for physical purchase or at least digital download asap. If they did, I wouldn't have to be such a weaseling little scrub and rip theme from the various internet leaks that inevitably pop up. And now that I've heard his theme all the way through, I'm convinced that Bedman really is the A.B.A. of Xrd, that theme of his just screams nightmare. I can hear a ton of Isuka and Hard Corps Uprising in some of these songs, and that's a good thing. Even some original soundtrack hints too, like Pot's "In Slave's Glory" Anyway, Goldenrody recently uploaded several lengthy videos of Satou tearin' it up in +R. Looks like he really might be holding out until Johnny Bravo gets into Xrd, not that I blame him. Dude's amazing. -

Quick question on the topic of possible new characters: Anyone else really want Gabriel to be playable? Because I sure as hell do. He could play like a faster, more agile version of ol' Pot, maybe with a dash of Clark from KOF (grabs AND tackles) and any good aspects of Bullet's design thrown in (ground-to-air grabs, slamdunks, etc). Also, the dude's a really important figure in GG, and is supposedly Slayer's rival. and dat mustache.... Also, this Valentine news is rather surprising -

"Doubt it. Capcom's been using the SFIV models for close to 6 years now." I meant more in terms of characters being able to get new moves/animations without having to rely on the set of sprites that were painstakingly created. Alternate outfits count as well, and they'll inevitably be a hell of a lot cooler than "Cowboy Ken". Regardless, ArcSys, despite all their problems/issues, is not Capcom. Moreover, even if they didn't change/modify the models over time, XRD looks WAY better, and more importantly, ageless than the lazy, obnoxiously roided-up design from SFIV. The only thing XRD needs to look any more gorgeous than it already does is for more accurate mouth flaps. That's pretty much it. I mean, didn't Blazblue Chrono Phantasma get completely redrawn sprites? And BBCP is only the 3rd game in a series that is barely 5 years old. Capcom would NEVER do that. EDIT: Apparently I've forgotten how basic forum quotations work. Oh well.... -

From a "stylistic" point of view, now that ArcSys has made the transition to 3D, I think we will start to see the end of the "re-used content" era, where characters would have the same sprites for, what, like 10+ years (assuming AC+R has the same sprites as GGX). It may seem like a lame, "filthy casul" reason, but allowing ArcSys to easily* slap a new coat of paint on Guilty Gear as time goes by is just another factor that can and will increase GG's staying power. Not to mention the new arcade/story cutscenes and possible alt costumes (which for a series as nuts/creative as GG is something to be excited about). It will keep new players playing longer, allowing them the necessary time to realize how awesome GG's mechanics are, which means a larger fanbase and possibly more competent/good players. No longer will Guilty Gear's awesome gameplay get snubbed because people (worthless scrubs) see it as some antiquated curiosity that is impossible to play. At least, I hope so. (*Easily compared to redrawing entire sprite sets from scratch) -

Well, just finished watching the first of Goldenrody's mikado 3on3 videos, and Konsome and FAB both soloed each of their respective opposing teams, whatever that means. It seems that 6K does cause wallstick in the corner. Flame pillar was used randomly by Konsome once, and I don't think he even meant to, lol. There has to be a use for that move... maybe it's solely for and easy heavenly-pot buster setup? Also, I think it was on twitch, I saw (FAB?) do pot buster into 2P>5S/H?>Heat Knuckle in the corner without RC. Is this new?
