  1. I remember when I thought this website was a useful venue of information. It makes me sad to think of how mis-led I was back then.
  2. I'm glad this now has a more positive spin to it. The NorCal Express is as geared as it ever was to kick ass, take names and win dem moniez. HyperBolic Time Chamber Training GO GO GO GO! I don't really like doing money matches, but I'll throw down FT3 $5 with a handful of people I guess. But only if I've never played them before. And finally, lol @ Senaki saying Cali would lose if we went to florida. Am I the only one that remembers our Mirror Matches on PSN?
  3. There's a difference between an argument and a discussion. I'm asking you to back your belief that Revelations is a tournament that is not worth my time (not stated, but implied), that the people running it are untrustworthy and "shady". As I pointed out initially, I have never "forgiven" Active Gamers for the disaster that was Triple Threat. Nor do I plan to. Whether or not people should go to Revelations, however, is entirely what this discussion is about (again, not stated but implied). Alright, I'm willing to concede the idea that SCR was mainly LU, no TL. Fine. Does this mean that the parts that TL were responsible for were handled horribly? Was there any fallout at all that TL was blamed for? Seems to me that even if they weren't shouldering the primary burden of SCR, they contributed and did their jobs and did them well. Because people are inherently distrustful of other people giving them large sums of money. I ran an event called the "CopperDabbit Challenge" and I guaranteed money up front. That make me shady?
  4. And I thank you for providing it. However, as a counter point, you have not responded to any of the valid points that were brought up with this thread. If you cannot dispute the things that were posted contradicting your statement, doesn't that make your point invalid?
  5. I'm going to bold parts of this for those of you who skip lots of text. First off, I do feel that many of you have some valid points about Active Gamers. They were a shit group that ran a horrible tournament that pissed many, many people off. Myself included. Let's break this down to be clear as to why Triple Threat sucked balls: 1) Started very VERY late. As one who did not pre-reg, I was standing outside for 4-5 hours. 2) People that did register were handed an iPhone and asked to prove that they had registered by logging into their paypal account. 3) A tournament (SF2:HDR) never happened, but still collected entry fees. 4) Winners of various events were paid several hours after their event ended. 5) Winners of various events had to volunteer to not get paid so others would. Please feel free to add in a helpful format if you feel there was another concern that I missed. This next portion is what Active Gamers did in response to the above: 1 & 2) Picked their assholes. 3) Eventually (yes, the key word here), refunded the entry fees. 4) See #1. 5) Eventually (again, the key word here), mailed out checks to all of the winners and everyone got all of the money promised. So why do I bother to post this? Nothing they did after the fact made up for a horribly run tournament. Fuck these guys. All they need to do is run one bad tournament, (eventually) keep their promises and they are never allowed to run another. Ever. Those looking down on this tournament solely for the reason that the group running it once fucked up horribly, are crucifying them and any future actions of theirs. Remember that one time you played really poorly? Couldn't land a combo, got hit by everything and were getting madder and madder at yourself? You suck and should stop playing all fighting games forever because you fucked up that one time. You should never be given another chance. Ok, so my example isn't 100% accurate, but I still think I have a valid argument here. In this day and age when a major is a rare thing to begin with, why should we ostracize a group trying to put together something that we all want? Because they picked a bad day for it? Oh, and as stated in TL_Staff's original post on SRK, they already have the blessing of the CEO crew. I say that 1 doesn't make a pattern. I say that SCR was run well, and I got paid on time with no shenanigans at all. I say that they have earned a 2nd a chance. And that's it. That's my entire argument. So, with nothing left to do now I'm going to keep planning on going to Revelations come this June. Oh, and I do support Evo. I have ever since my trip in 2007. I'm going to continue supporting them, like I always have: by going to Evo.
  6. nothingxs, I did read your post in it's entirety and my post went to what I concerned to be the most valid points in your argument. Please don't take that the wrong, I'm not trying to be insulting, just accurate. I was there are triple threat and I remember how crappy it was. I was there at SCR and remember how much fun it was and how smoothly everything went (except the start time). They showed at SCR they have a better handle on what's going on and that they can do same day pay outs (I got one). I honestly didn't think I needed to state the obvious.
  7. Y'know I read all of this on srk as it was happening and frankly, I don't understand. So now that there are 2 tournaments on the same day, you have 2 options: 1) Go to Revelations 2) Go to CEO 2011. If you choose to go to Revelations you have a chance of winning up to and including $20,000. This also means that there is no chance of getting seeded at Evo. You will have to play more matches of a game you profess to like in the first place. The horror. If you choose to go to CEO 2011, you have a chance of winning a smaller prize and a seed spot at Evo. This means that at Evo, you will be playing a game that you profess to like less. The horror. Competition is a healthy thing and if we have tournaments that are fighting for our attention, it's totally a win for the players/community. The organizers fighting means we get better prizes, more incentive, more people, more hype. Now, I understand that this particular argument would NOT hold true, were we talking about a major event deliberately shutting down/picking on a smaller event. This is not the case in this particular instance. It seems from my perspective, and please correct me if I'm wrong, that your real concern is that you want your cake and to be able to eat it too. That is, you want to be able to vie for an Evo Seed spot and $20,000 without having to make a choice between the two. So, quick re-cap: Competition is healthy, and life can throw some hard choices at you sometimes. Welcome to life outside of the internet.
  8. I'll think about going, but it's a hell of a drive...
  9. Hype! CopperDabbit NorCal Road Trip! Gotta win me them moniez.
  10. This works in CS (and there's a ranbat vid from the last NCI that shows me doing it against Chun) and should still work in CS2, but the timing for the D bug might be different.: While already in curse mode: 6A > immediately tap C, then tap and hold A > walk forward a few steps > ]A[ > 6C > 4C+D Remember to do the 6ACA as quickly as possible. You do NOT want the 5C to come out. If you do this right, the 2nd hit of the 6C 5C crosses up and hits from the other side. Doesn't work on Hazama, Tsubaki, Tager, Carl or Lambda. Possibly Mu as well, haven't tried it on her.
  11. Completely wrong thread for this kind of discussion guys, this is for the loke tests, not the release. I'm (finally!) closing this thread.
  12. Thanks Rin, but it's not your fault, it's mine. I'll deal with it.
  13. Quick summary of my weekend trip to SCR. Or as I call it, "CopperDabbit Vs. the Universe" Round 1, FIGHT Dabbit uses HYPE CARPOOL It's Super Effective! The Universe uses FORGETFUL It's Super Effective! Dabbit forgot his toothbrush! Dabbit uses HAVE FUN The Universe takes 1 point of damage. Enraged, the Universe rolls up it's galactic sleeves, preparing for an ass beating. The Universe uses FORGETFUL It's super effective! Dabbit forgot his Jacket, with all of his money in it. The Universe uses UNLUCKY It's super effective! Despite the fact his friends lent him 5 dollars the cross the bridge, it's actually 6 dollars and now has a ticket in the mail with Dabbit's name on it. Dabbit Faints from Exhaustion!
  14. Ok, I can agree with that assessment and I apologize if I made it sound like I was insinuating that BB was the only important thing at NCI, that was in no way, shape or form what I was trying to communicate. My concern was simply for the number of viewers on the stream, and nothing else.
  15. I have a question: what is the benefit of keeping our next NCI ranbat the weekend of nov. 5th? A fair number of players are going to be in SoCal for SCR, and the akicon tourney is happening in PNW that weekend as well. It seems to me like the stream is going to be minimal at best anyway. What is the harm of pushing it off a week? Also, WOOO SPONSORS!! I don't give a crap what is in it for them. I will pimp the shit out of microsoft if they're giving us free stuff.
  16. Ok, I'm legitimately getting sick of this thread. New Rules, make sure your friends know! Because 90% of the people commenting in this thread have proven to me you cannot have a reasonable discussion, there are now only a few things that may be posted: 1) Copy & Pasted notes of the original Japanese loketest notes. 2) Translations of #1 3) Questions to CLARIFY the notes from #1 or #2. 4) Answers to #3. IF ANYONE, AND I MEAN ANYONE, POSTS ANYTHING THAT IS NOT WITHIN THESE 4, THE THREAD WILL BE CLOSED AND INFRACTIONS GIVEN.
  17. Sweet! I got top billing before Ricky Ortiz AND Valle! I love it!
  18. Ok guys, all NorCal cars are filled! Everyone, please send me one more PM letting me know that you are STILL confirmed to the trip down south. If i do not receive a PM by the end of the week, I will assume you're not going any more.
  19. I swear this thread gets more epic every time that Valle posts. Hype +[random number with no actual meaning, meant to convey my excitement about this particular event]!!!!!!!!
  20. Ok guys, this has gotten out of hand. So, here's your one and only warning: Any more off topic conversation will result in this thread getting locked. Any infringing parties will get an infraction/ban as well.
  21. Let's go ahead and assume we do get sponsorship from microsoft. Would we be allowed to ONLY use 360s? Why couldn't we have a mix of the two? Also, if they are sponsoring it, I don't think asking for some sticks is unreasonable.
  22. Rin, as I said in the PM i first sent around... *ahem* I ALREADY HAVE A ROOM.
  23. While I agree that 360<PS3 in terms of ease of use for BB, we're talking about a major sponsor here. With the words "Sponsored by MicroSoft" on our flyers/posts etc. we could get some real coverage and get a lot more people to show up. Chun, do not listen to the MicroSoft haters ("hey kettle, you're black!).
  24. Holding 4 while doing an airdash with Arakune causes him to fall to the ground, rather than float upward.
  25. Alright, so Goryus and I ARE going to SCR! We will be driving, hopefully in 1 car, but if enough people want to ride with us, we will take separate cars to accommodate the riders. If you want a ride from NorCal to SoCal, contact me now. Limited spaces are available. You will be asked to pay for gas. Any further questions, pm me.
