[CT] Carl Clover Tactical Discussion/Questions/Help

Ah, that's easy. You do 8~9 or 8~7. Don't hit neutral (5), or else it'll register the double-jump. -
I usually gravitate toward the women: Noel, then Rachel, then Litchi—exactly order how they were introduced during loc tests. Unfortunately, none of them clicked. Tried the others for a bit, and I found that I had the most fun with Carl and his sister when they were released. Sure, I got my ass beat countless times since I was learning how to negative edge (hated the mechanic initially, since I suck with Boxer), but it's so worth it seeing two characters beat down on someone. Yeah, funny that. I mained A.B.A too and ended up liking Carl.

The allecan string deals more damage (j2C(allecan) > B > C deals 1605, whereas and jC > B > C dishes 1445). Not sure about other players, but I switch between the two depending on the spacing between my Carl and the opponent, and whether or not they're ducking. For some reason, I find it easier to land an allecan when they're ducking. -

I'm a Carl user too, but I only have time to play at work, so I can't really gauge my skill. I wish I went with Mori over to Denjin. -
I'm pretty sure you can do more than that, especially with this throw combo I use a lot: Throw > 5D > 5D > 2D > 2D> j.5D > 5D > j.2D > 2D > 214D. I think the properties of her gatling are closer to this (can't really confirm since I'm just going from memory): Can do two Ds of a given direction per gatling (i.e. No 5D>5D>5D or 5D>5D>6D>6D>5D)4D>4D and 6D>6D ends your gatling Also, Nu's 6C, 2C, and all of her D combinations are dash cancelable, forward and back.

I'll mess around with that if I have time during the week, but a decent set-up I use with Anima is during blocked sandwich pressure (6D loop). You can continue to pressure if they throw escape, but if they don't, you can dash to the other side of Nirvana and j.B, J.B > C into a possible 8D loop if they tech anywhere but forward. And if they do tech forward, you can try to catch them with 6A into the 8D loop. I'm still messing with it to see if there's an air string that will combo Anima to the 8D, but I haven't had much time to play these days. -

I've tried an 8D ground loop and found that you're better off doing 6D: it deals more damage and has a longer hit stun than 8D. A single ground rep of 2A>5A>5B>6B>6D deals about 150 more damage than 8D. Can't use 5C with 8D since it registers the jump cancel. And no, 6B does not gatling to 3C. -

You can delay the start of the staff's return flight by holding D. Its actual flight begins on the negative edge.
-
You and me both.

Perhaps Japanese players are fascinated by the foreign sounds of English, much like we are to the sound of Japanese.
-
True. In which case, you quickly switch to the Organ menu, disband that specific unit, and order it to attack the new location. All in the span of 3 to 5 seconds. This is a great early game tactic, especially for large maps.
-
I agree with you on this, but I hated this stage even more for a different reason. I didn't like the fact that this was the first real time you actually have control of the Organ. The level design sorta neglects this and doesn't ease you in any way, shape, or form—there are effective ways to teach the player and immerse them without resorting to hand-holding or, in this case, trial by fire.
-
Yeah, I've gotten a couple reports on that. Will take some time to hear back from Japan and Microsoft to see what's the problem. I'll keep you posted.

You can extend that combo a little further by doing another air-dash after your first two air-slashes.
