  1. Thanks for the explanations. I don't really understand ranks and levels here. I guess the answer is to not play ranked matches for now. I didn't say I go AFK when things aren't going my way.... It's when the other player is so out of my league that there is nothing to learn because I can barely land or block a single attack. . . The infinite majority? There are always new players. If this means "you're not good enough, give up" then why did you bother to comment? I've been playing BB against the CPU on and off for 2 years now... Online for a month or so, but only a few hours a week at the most. I have a win ratio of around 17% in the ranked matches. Occasionally I get a good game (win or lose) with someone around my skill level, just not very often... As it is I get a challenger every few minutes- I'd rather wait a little longer between games if it means a fairer match, but whatever.
  2. The love phantom video has been edited to extend the loop... you can see it by watching Tager's health bar.... how lame.
  3. I'm quite sure high level players in any field DO NOT THINK while playing.
  4. So I enter Ranked Match mode (which is where all the action seems to be) and set the player matching parameter to "About Same "... Most of the time the players who turn up to challenge me are way above my league.... Even when they are around the same level they will have played like 100 times more games and have a much higher victory ratio and Rebel Points, whatever they are. Some of these guys just chain their combos relentlessly and do not even seem to realise I have let go of the stick and I'm just sitting back waiting for the match to end. Why do I level up even when I lose??? How can someone be at around the same level as me when they have played hundreds more games and have a much higher win ratio? Do people with a lot of games under their belt somehow reset their profile so they can be matched against newbies for easy wins? Why does the game not show me the opponent's details before I choose to accept the challenge? Seems like a lot of Japanese l33t mentality.
  5. Because using yor whole wrist/hand will always be more accurate and faster than using your thumb. Also, good buttons on sticks go faster than gamepad buttons. And you won't get so much repetitive strain injury. Practice some more with the stick and you'll get it. You may want to try the different ways of holding it.
  6. So it's possible to escape it?
  7. Hey all, so I recently started playing BBCP online.... Apart from the matchmaking being apparently broken, I don't get what the story with Astral Finish is.... At least half of the matches I've played recently have ended with me being defeated with an Astral Finish.... It seems that a lot of players resort to that when they can't just steamroll through the fight with their combos. I don't even know how to pull off an AF (I play Hakumen) and it seems unblockable/ undodgeable. . . I don't see any in-game explanation. Seems like a really cheap mechanic that takes the fun out of the game. . . Thanks
  8. Newbie questions: So reversal=DP=dragon punch, which is a 632A type of move?
  9. Today I had a good start when my little parcel arrived with 4 new Seimitsu buttons and LS-56 spring for my Madkatz stick! I wasted no time in putting it all in Removing the e-clip from the stick to change the spring was painless using a small pair of sharp-pointed scissors. I was able to clip it back on using my fingers. I had already added a Sanwa 8-way gate to the stick, which is basically a (bad) Sanwa copy. I am stoked! BTW I'm using the Mayflash adapter for this to work on PS3 and PC and it seems to work without lag, but there is no home button.
  10. Thanks, that's great. I've been seriously bogged down by the jargon here, even in Beginner Mode posts. Usually most of these words end up referring to something pretty straightforward and half the time I'm already aware of it without having the terminology to refer to it. I'm just beginning to learn the fundamentals in BlazBlue and I've been already playing for a over a year, often hours at a time against the CPU and in training mode. It seems to me that every character is quite different and you just have to play lots and lots with your chosen character so as to master the movements and get used to how the various things in the frame data actually play out. Watching videos helps a lot , as well as reading around here even though I usually understand less than half of it. I only understood how to counter-attack very recently after getting sick of getting destroyed by endless combos in Hell difficulty. I have bad button mashing habits from having grown up with shooter and hack'n'slash games and that is the most important thing to overcome in my case, and I guess for a lot of other people. I still cannot reliably pull off any but the most basic combos!
  11. Some of them come with a compartment to stash the cable in, which is definitely a good thing. I'm always pulling tangles of cables out of my bag.
  12. Hey people, I'm in Brighton and am bored of playing against the CPU , I want some real people! I have a PS3 with BlazBlueCSE and CP , as well as Persona 4A . Would love to meet players in Brighton for not-so serious matches and training. There is apparently a scene that has matches regularly at Sticky Mike's Frog Bar but they don't play these games
  13. Nice, thank you all, this place is great! I'll look for you online! I'm playing CP now, glad to find that Hakumen continues to destroy! What is the problem with Bullet?
  14. Thanks guys. What is Q.Q?
  15. So I've been playing the BlazBlue games for like a year now, against the CPU, and it's getting boring. I've never tried playing online . Do these games have some sort of matching system with levels or whatever so you can choose to play against players of similar skill, and does this system actually work? I'm worried that I'll just run into combo hell. I haven't been studying frame data and stuff like that, no time for it. I can deal with the CPU on Hard and sometimes Very Hard difficulty but I rarely get more than a few hits from a combo. Are there other more casual players like me who play online? I play Hakumen and now getting into Bullet!
