Ottawa: Why have fundamentals when you have gimmicks?
lofo replied to Freezerburn's topic in International
I love the characters (well, certain ones), but no one here really plays it. We'd recently been discussing fooling around with it though. -
I had been playing with it and I think it can be useful. If you threaten to do lots of forward dash cancel bites, often the opponent will want to hit buttons knock you out of it, so then FDC BS becomes a strong option. Combined with Slayer's powerful CH punishes for counter BS baiting and the bite improvements, it could be strong tech in 1.1. You'd need an option to beat jumps too, though. I wonder how much forward momentum he gets after forward dash jump cancel now. If it's long enough, air throwing jumps could be an option. You can do dash cancel into into crouch BS, but it's pretty hard. You really should if you're going to use the tech, though, so you don't eat Millia 2Ks or whatever. You need to cancel the prejump frames into the crouch BS, it's just really fast. Yeah I'd been thinking this as well. I think the timing change might make it work vs I-No's meaty VCL YRC for example, and the BS would stun her since it works vs projectiles now.

Is there some way I can get a vote for +R in the poll? I don't have a facebook account and don't really want to register one. -

If you guys are coming to our Ottawa tournament, Bruce is asking people to bring setups. -

Can't make it this week. School's brutal hours mean I'll be sleeping. Probably not going to be staying out as long this semester either. -
Her 6K is +0 and her combination overheads are +3. I'm not seeing how you can sweep those.

Thank you all for coming out. Special thanks to everyone who helped me run the BB bracket. I would've been totally lost without you guys. -

Really? Because as I recall, Seems like this will just be more of the same, but I'll take your money if you so insist. Your terms are fine. Blind character select on first match, free counterpicking on following matches sound good? Anyone else want to take me up on my challenge? There's no deadline but the sooner you let me know, the more time we have to talk shit. -

Apparently we are "not allowed" to run money matches because it could be construed as gambling or somesuch and we'd get shut down? I dunno man, it being a school venue has weird rules. That said I think we can run "2 player mini tournaments" with an entry fee where first place gets 100% of the pot. As long as we keep it a bit on the down-low so Krack can claim he had no idea if something happens, we should be good. Don't be flashing that cash around. That all said, I'm willing to match any out-of-towner, and have at least one sponsor who thinks I can beat any one of you. I'm inclined to agree with him. I mean GG is our game, it's only natural that I beat you guys at it. edit - I could've posted that in the tournament thread but let's be real, everyone attending reads this thread more regularly anyways. -

obviously i should switch mains to venom. thanks for running the bracket, ian -
Thanks for taking this seriously, St1ckBuG. I really appreciate it.

Regardless of whether you like team tournaments or not, the issue, at least for me, is the bait and switch of the tournament format after people have already committed time and money to travelling. The rest of that stuff is kind of a red herring.
-
I was pretty hype for this until I saw this team thing. I'm travelling internationally and skipping classes for travel time just for this tournament, just for +R. Suddenly I need a teammate I don't have and all the practice I've been doing on my sub is for nothing because of char lock. This change leaves a bad taste in my mouth to say the least, and I don't know what I'm going to do. I agree with what Essay wrote as well.

Oh, I didn't know it was different between 360 and PS3, I only played on 360. And oh man I forgot how awful KOF's code is. -

I played CT's netcode a lot and it was nowhere near as bad as +R's. The actual worst ever is XBox #Reload, imo. -

Oh yeah heads up my internet is, uh, not great. I live in a house with 4 other people and we share internet, so combined with +R's Worst Netcode Ever, it's kind of rough. -

Hmm, I only have 360, but I'll see what I can do about borrowing a PS3 so we can do this. -

Unless I have you mistaken for someone else (and my sincere apologies if I have), you lost to Sam the Great at UMAD, then I eliminated him. So by proxy I've beaten you the only time we were in a tournament together. If you want to come give me your money, though, I'll be happy to take it. $5 sound good? When Blade of Justice came to visit neither of us had money so we just played a match for Pride and Glory. I'd be willing to play a grudge match like that if you're up for it. -

I almost feel rude for proposing it. I mean you guys are going to travel all the way over here and then give me your money? That hardly seems fair.
