  1. Received a tip from Atlus' Rob at Evo. Yukiko has a 4B and 6B (and 4BB/6BB). It determines the speed of the fans you throw. You can have each one be a different speed iirc. Just thought you guys should know! Didn't see it in the data thread.

  3. SBO Qualifiers are never decided by vote. Over the years, many players have suggested EVO become a SBO qualifier, but they really are two seperate entities. #1 Evo is a WORLD scale tournament. Anyone from anywhere can show up and enter. This creates a problem because many region's qualifiers are for that region only. (Several USA SBO qualifiers do not allow non-residents to enter. I don't know if that's mandatory and I imagine it's changed over the years) #2 Evo is console. SBO qualifiers are typically required to be on the latest Arcade version #3 I can't speak for SPARK, but... for everyone saying he should go, you might want to try actually offering him a flight to the qualifier. Even if he's not interested in SBO at the moment... he might become interested. ^ ^
  4. Believe it or not, a tournament organizer has no obligation to post about his event on Dustloop or any other forum. It is regrettable that short notice will not allow many players to make it, but that is reality for you. Lets try to keep this positive. Best of luck to the players who go, and whoever is chosen as this year's representative.
  5. Well, I'm sure you know the drill already. Hopefully Huey won't tell everyone to leave their PS3s at home this time. Everyone brings their PS3s = We run BB on PS3 Everyone stays home = Good thing we had a backup plan for XBOX360
  6. When: October 7th to 9th Where: AKICON (Hilton Hotel - Bellevue) http://akicon.org/AkiCon.html Who: YOU Game Lineup: BlazBlue: Continuum Shift II (XBOX360 - May be switched to PS3 if the masses dictate it) Friday/Saturday [Of course, if this wasn't here I wouldn't be posting on Dustloop] Marvel vs. Capcom 3: Fate of Two Worlds (XBOX360) Saturday/Sunday Super Street Fighter 4: Arcade Edition (XBOX360) Friday/Sunday Kidou Senshi Gundam: Gundam vs. Gundam NEXT PLUS (PSP) Every Day To Aru Majutsu no Index (PSP) Every Day Now, I know some of you might be thinking... PSP TOURNAMENTS?! But I don't have a PSP! Or these games?! FEAR NOT, because we will be providing PSPs and the games for this event. Utilizing our new revolutionary equipment, we will be setting up PSP stations for a head to head style showdown. Cost: Pre-registration price for the convention is $35 for the full 3 days. Goes up to $40 starting 8/1. $45 for at-the-door registration. Details about the convention itself can be found at http://www.akicon.org The tournaments themselves are free to enter [however, you must register with the convention in order to enter the tournaments]. Format: We'll be using a new convention-friendly "leaderboard" style, previously tested at Sakuracon. Challenge anyone you want! Each day, we will be running a leaderboard and recording the results of matches. The top 8 players on the leaderboard each day will qualify for the final top 16 single-elimination bracket. The final top 16 will take place immediately after pool play ends on the second day of each event. If you can only set aside time for one day, come on the second day of that tournament you want to enter. Each day's leaderboard is seperate. The top 8 will be taken from each. [Gundam/Index will use another method] For the purpose of the leaderboard, everyone will be ranked based on the number of wins. Losses will only be considered for the purpose of breaking ties. On the final day of each tournament, we will call out names from the top of the two complete leaderboards, starting from rank #1. Anyone absent will be skipped, and we will continue to call from the list until the 16 man bracket is filled. General Rules Top 16 will be 2 out of 3. Finals will be 3 out of 5. Standard tournament rules will apply. Pausing causes you to forfeit the round. Don't physically harm your opponents, damage equipment, etc. DLC will be unlocked and playable in each game. Game specific rules: Luckily these games don't have anything that needs to be banned. Awesome! Prizes: To Be Announced! Look forward to additional updates in the near future. FAQ: "Does this format mean if I have 9 wins and 0 losses, I will be ranked below someone with 10 wins and 9000 losses" Yes. "What is this amazing game "GUNDAM VS GUNDAM" "Kidou Senshi Gundam: Gundam vs. Gundam NEXT PLUS" is the PSP port of the arcade game "Kidou Senshi Gundam: Gundam vs. Gundam NEXT". If you haven't heard of it, it is a fighting/mech game which acts as a crossover for all Gundam series. Watch these videos and then go pick up the game.
  7. Hey guys... as some of you may have heard, there's a big tournament coming up at the end of the month. It's called . . . Battle For Seattle Taking place May 28th & 29th, it will be run as part of a larger convention known as SRGE [seattle Retro Games Expo], at Hotel Deca in Seattle (Near the University district). This will be a larger event, so I'd like to encourage everyone to come. We haven't had anything of a similar scale since Northwest Majors 2. I'll hope to see Portland & Canada crew as well. The tournament lineup will be as follows: (Newer games) BlazBlue Continuum Shift 2 (PS3) Super Street Fighter 4 (X360) Marvel vs. Capcom 3 (X360) Mortal Kombat 9 (X360) Tekken 6 (PS3) (Classic games) Super Street Fighter II Turbo (Arcade version, not HDRemix) Vampire Savior (the game everyone loves but nobody plays -- also arcade version) Marvel vs. Capcom 2 (Dreamcast... I think -- maybe PS2? Arcade? Will post correction later) Because this tournament is part of a larger convention, registration for the convention is required. If you preregister, it's $20 venue to cover your entry into the convention & tournament, and from there you pay on site for the games you want to enter. Next gen titles are $10 entry each, and classic titles are $5 each. The official website where registration takes place is located here: http://www.seattleretro.org/ Direct link to registration is here: http://jetcityretro.org/news/registration.html We're looking for extra LCD monitors for the event. Anyone who provides them will have their venue fee waived. Contact me via PM on Dustloop or IRC for further details. The schedule is finalized now and should appear on the website soon. In the meantime, here is a preview version: Saturday 9:30 AM - Doors open to public 9:30 - 4:00 - Tournament signups (For all games -- signup ends approximately 15-30 minutes before each event starts) 10AM: People providing equipment in exchange for having their venue fee waived should try to show up by this time. 10:30 AM - Go over rules 11:00 - 11:15 AM - Bracket Build 11:15 - 2:00 PM Mortal Kombat 9 Tourney begins 2:00 - 2:15 AM - Bracket Build 2:15 - 6:00 PM - SSIV Tourney begins 4:00 PM - Raffle Drawing 4:00 - 4:15 PM - Bracket Build 4:15 PM - 8:30 PM - BlazBlue and Tekken 6 Tourney 8:00 PM - Tournament wind-down 9:30 PM - Doors close Sunday: 9:30 AM - Doors open 9:30 - 4:00 - Tournament signups 10:30 AM - Go over rules 11:00 - 11:15 AM - Bracket Build 11:15 AM - MvC 3 Tournament begins 3:00 PM - Raffle Drawing 3:15 - 7:00pm ST & MvC 2 Tourney begins 5:15 PM - Vampire Savior Tourney begins 8:00 PM - Tournament wind-down 9:30 PM - Doors close I'll add additional information as it becomes available. For anyone wondering -- I'm staff at the tournament, but the main organizer is Julian. You can find his contact info on the SRGE website if you have any questions (or you can ask them here).
  8. Ideally yes, but use your best judgment. After talking to Julian, more monitors = better... provided there is no noticable lag. If you recognize it's unreliable, better to leave it at home.
  9. So can I get feedback on who is attending BATTLE FOR SEATTLE? Post up if you're planning to go, or decided that you won't go. Thanks~ People who are planning to get their venue fee waived in exchange for providing an LCD monitor for the event should post up as well... unless they've already spoken to me. Please include information about the monitor/TV as well. Also, PS3s! Right now we are still in limbo and relying on ASW/Aksys word that CS2 will come to us soon enough. As a last resort we could switch to XBOX360... but I think most of us want it on PS3 right? For reference, the previous Battle For Seattle post with schedule & details is located here: http://www.dustloop.com/forums/showthread.php?10036-The-Pacific-Northwest!-Washington-Portland-Hipster-Forest-and-Mutant-Farmer-players&p=1008265&viewfull=1#post1008265
  10. Hey Best Bout... don't be a nameless, faceless corporation. I heard a rumor some OG guys are involved in your organization... take off your mask and say hi to everyone. I'm sure some people here will remember you.
  11. BFS FAQ: Woki:I'm just wondering if it's possible to provide the lcd just for the tournament I want to enter, and then have the venue fee waived. Answer: It doesn't work like that, sorry.
  12. The schedule has been finalized so I'll post it now. Also, anyone who knows me that is looking to get their venue fee waived in exchange for providing LCD monitors / volunteering, send me a PM (on DL or IRC). 15. For some of the older members, you probably don't bother to check the front page... in the past, there was nothing to see there anyways. Recently, Dustloop staff has decided to be more active with front page submissions, so there should always be something worth checking out. Recent activity includes: a reminder about Final Round 14, which will also be streamed live, this weekend a contest run by Anime Matsuri, one lucky winner will receive a free flight & hotel accomodation and the opportunity to play BlazBlue CS2 & meet the producer, Toshimichi Mori CONFIRMATION that BBCS2 is going to be released as DLC, and confirmation that the next Guilty Gear is in the works! So remember, check frequently for news and updates as we receive them. 2011 should see a much more active front page.
  16. One more time.
  17. Heidern... what's wrong with you. You haven't answered my PM and ignore my post in this thread.
  18. I vote for the third option, also known as: RETURN MY CALL ALREADY, HEIDERN.
  19. heh... maybe you've got it backwards, RavenOmni?
  20. I never thought I'd be glad to see BlazBlue or Guilty Gear categorized as "Side Events". Thanks for this consideration. I'm sure there are several people on this forum that would want to attend and only enter BB/GG, so it works perfectly for us. On a side note, for anyone considering whether or not to attend this. I've met the person in charge of Gameclucks and he's a true professional. I have high expectations for this event, so I'd like to encourage anyone who can make it to attend.
  21. I heard he was on an Acer AL2216Wbd 22" LCD Monitor
  22. You mean, you copied it during my Triple Threat performance, right? BTW Goryus adapted it for use with Bang/Lambda after Triple Threat. Also, our local CT Bang player used it too (Dir En Grey 666 on PSN).
  23. We've played around 6 matches EVER, all on the same day. I barely know the guy, and we live approximately 800~1000 miles from each other.
  24. You won't incur any favor by insulting people here. As you said, writing stuff in the "old notation" isn't really a challenge... but similarly, it's also simple enough to pick up the notation used by this community. You're asking for help from the public, but people won't take you seriously if you can't get over this very minor hurdle. By the way, although you called it the "old notation", it's only the old notation in USA (and some related countries). The number system has been used in japan for a long time... which is also why "airdash fighters" picked it up, since originally a lot of information about the games came from japan. In the off chance your keyboard or other text entry device doesn't have one, here's a helpful guide: http://www.cygrouponline.com/images/numpad.jpg Hope you enjoy your time here at Dustloop.
  25. Hi Fubarduck! Thanks for working hard for our community all these years. Exciting to hear about the -completely random- bracket. I'll try to make it to this qualifier for BB. I'd say "lets team up for Melty", but these days I'm a meltynobody (haven't really played AA) + looks like it's singles. Hope to hear the details on the bonus "cool stuff" soon. See you around, if not at this event then at Evo.
