Hey guys I'm a player on the EC interested in tryin this game out. Give me an add if you wanna play.
-
How often are people @ Next level for Uniel Casuals? I'd like to start going out there if people play.
-
Could anyone explain how you use/input J.2C in pressure? I seem to be doing it wrong because i can't get crossups and mixups/ conversions off the persona hit.
-
Yeah that makes sense. Also for the BO to be + does it matter if its 236A or B?
-
Yes I agree, Kumi is extremely aggressive and I lmaoed at one point in the vids when he was trollin with 214B over and over on someone. I also love Rion lol the way he uses 6B(1) > 5[C] is godlike. As far as playing style goes I think I'll end up being a more passive aggressive Hyde that tries to abuse people with his ranged pokes and zoning tools similar to Rion. We should play on PSN sometime. I haven't put much time into my Hyde yet so he is still scrubby but it will be cool to fight a Hyde with a contrasting playing style. I still don't have any of his BnBs down XD.

Thanks for clearing that up. I retract my statement about it wasting GRD, though from the videos he doesn't use many hits to lead up to it. He does 66C > B+C > 236A, keeping it short. @HollowExia I thought he was great; I like the way he uses his movement to threaten people at times and the usage of the B+C blockstring.

Links to those vids and players? I'm always up to watch some Hyde gameplay and learn some things. Sent from my BlackBerry 9780 using Tapatalk

The frame trap is 2A > 5C. 5B is done to give time to convert and confirm off 5Cs hit and if blocked it does as you say. You will see the string used a bit in the Rion vs The World as Hyde matches. I highly recommend that video to see what I'm talking about in action. Sent from my BlackBerry 9780 using Tapatalk

Also you have to keep your blockstrings short and relevant. Like the ones you listed have a bunch of hits but after the 2C I don't see what your goal is other than giving them a shitload of GRD as well as wasting your own GRD on B+C for no payoff since as you say you end your pressure too far away to be effective. Always ask yourself the following as Hyde: Do I want a frame trap? Do I want to throw? Do I want to punish throw tech? Do I want to setup 6B pressure / CH or orbiter? To illustrate here is a basic blockstring I use: 2A x N. On a confirm I can convert into a combo and on block I have throw and gattling into 5C > 5B to catch mash. If the 5C > 5B followup hits I can combo and if blocked I am at a good range to frame trap with orbiter or have them respect other normals like 2B, 3B and 6B. After 2AxN I am also at light negative on block so I can reset pressure convincingly by going for dash in normals or TK 236A which punishes throw tech attempts. As you can see just this simple poke gives me options and answers to all questions I asked: Frame trap: 2A x N > 5C > 5B Throw setup: 2A x N > Throw Throw tech punish : 2A x N > TK 236A or Assault 6B / Orbiter: 2A x N > filler until you end with 2B, 5B or 3B to create a little space for 6B / Orbiters sweetspot. Hopefully this helps somewhat. I'm still a beginner myself and my Hyde has a ways to go lol so I'd appreciate it if the rest of you let me know if this sounds about right. Yeah I don't think I have ever seen 5B hit anyone in japanese arcade play. It's 2A, 5C to catch mash after 2A pressure and 6B all day long.

I see. Thanks for explaining it.

This probably sounds dumb but how do you input this? all at once?
-
I also don't think Linne is better in neutral than Hyde. Hyde's zoning capability is strong IMO especially when the opponent has no answer to it. 22 series, orbiter, early orbiter detonate, great normals for footsies. Hyde can fight Linne at a longer range than Linne can fight Hyde. Linne becomes more threatening when she is in kuuga range I'd say. I think the MU is 5-5, especially because I think our oki is better than hers as well as our damage. Maybe you guys can explain what you think makes her neutral better to help me understand?

5CC is +, Her running C (used in her combos) is negative. Her A version of air throw low to the ground is +. 5 hit version of gunshots is +, A version is -1. 236A is + with enhanced bullets. If you are getting counterhit by normals then shes staggering you to death. Some of her stagger chains are frametraps I think. They might all be; idk.
-
So 66C actually isnt advantage? I could have sworn it was + on block.
-
Nah I heard she has a high rate of combo drops over in JPN and the wiki isn't the only source that claims she is high execution. Not gonna lie even Senaru drops some stuff in the vids I see of him. Definitely don't see it as much from other chars unless its like Seth lol. Still I would say she is moderate so far. Perhaps its hitconfirming and as someone said before memorizing these routes you have to do in addition to this that make ppl say shes execution heavy.

Would the corner make 66B 214A work on characters with smaller hitboxes? Sent from my BlackBerry 9780 using Tapatalk

You can also frametrap by staggering your strings and pressure with reverse beat. Staggering is basically delaying the pokes slightly so that you can counterhit mashing. Sent from my BlackBerry 9780 using Tapatalk

Maybe I was trippin. But I'll get you some Hyde vs Hilda vids later; Maybe you can get some ideas from them. EDIT: I wasn't trippin. Hyde does it in these matches against HIlda. Sometimes it's a free get in for him: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-WoV7pyPyTg (Starts at 4:20) https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=t4_CofBRohQ (Starts 6:40) Sent from my BlackBerry 9780 using Tapatalk

Lol Hyde isn't shitty at zoning. Watch some more play of the good japanese Hyde's; He is one of the better characters at it. He also does not have problems approaching. No character with good ranged normals and full screen projectiles has a hard time getting in especially if you can run in with those projectiles. Could have sword he could do that with A version orbiter. I will say that Hilda rapes Hyde in zoning which is natural. He's a jack of all trades character. But unlike some characters in the cast he is equipped with things she needs to respect in the spacing war IMO. She will either block or get hit by well placed orbiters and pillars causing a knockdown for you to run in and capitalize on. We all know Hilda is trash at close range so Hyde can keep the pressure on her there. Sent from my BlackBerry 9780 using Tapatalk

Who would you say is better than her up close? I'd say shes pretty up there in terms of CQC,
-
I can't give specfics but IMO Eltnum is a bit annoyed in MUs where she is outranged. All I can say is block and inch your way in with assault/dashing and use your gunshot/C normals within range. When you get knockdowns stay on her; You can't afford to lose momentum and have to work your way in again.

Waldstein Infinite Discussion (Tournament Legality)
Tenryuga replied to Tigre's topic in Under Night In Birth
I can't believe some of the arguments I have heard in this thread. Are you guys seriously telling me you are ok with a Wald getting the life lead (with the round still being perfectly winnable for you) then going for this the next chance he gets in the corner? Not only that but you are really trying to tell me that having people sit there and watch the same repetitive action over and over and over and over when the outcome of the match is already decided for however much seconds will generate hype? You might as well toss the round the minute the loop starts to save everybody a minute or two. If I was a viewer I would instantly be turned off and not touch this game whatsoever (competitively) until it was addressed, Character is already a dominant character and now people have to deal with the chance of a round getting sealed on his life lead on the corner? Nobody sees how this is retarded? Respect to the japanese players who had the sense to not do this bullshit and any other Wald players. This is not even winnning by outplaying somebody; Are you guys serious right now?
