  1. Blaz was the only game that had two dedicated setups the whole time last time. You even said you didn't need a tourney, the casuals looked like they were helping out more than a 4 man round robin would have.
  2. There's going to be one more the week before EVO. Also meant to make this post wayyy earlier, but just never got around to it. But GG's all last Saturday and thanks again to everyone that made it another successful tourney. The numbers were definitely smaller compared to the previous one, but people have priorities and sometimes its hard to make it to an event that's every two weeks. Appreciate the help as well as the food Luke and Justin. Brackets: P4 (RR) - http://challonge.com/bearellPersona4RR UNIEL - http://challonge.com/bearellUniel2 Xrd - http://challonge.com/bearellXrd2
  3. Ryan with the shutdowns. He doesn't wanna play your dead kusoge, or he secretly already has a team. Anyway, friendly reminder to all that the tournament is this Saturday at the usual UAT. We might be strapped for setups this time around. So if some extra people could bring their setups that would be awesome.
  4. Don't forget you need to register your team online for the ArcRevo qualifiers. Also everyone has to play a different character and you need to bring your passport when you sign in. Stuff's serious business.
  5. When your first ship is 20,000 fakking leagues under the sea you gotta compromise.
  6. Thanks to everyone who came out yesterday and GG's to all. It was a great tourney and I hope the other ones turn out great as well. I'd like to thank everyone who helped out with running the stream and brackets (Luke, Dippy, Tempered and everyone who updated their own matches). Shout-outs to Justin as well for fixing the audio problems. And I hope you had a great birthday Ruben! Sorry again for planning this on the same day, we'll have to do a dinner party to make up for it. But I'm glad you came and had some fun. Brackets : (Persona) http://challonge.com/bearell (UNIEL) http://challonge.com/bearellUNIEL (Xrd) http://challonge.com/bearellXrd Congrats to HF for winning two tourneys (someone stop this monster) and Rath for taking Persona. Great job also to Don for knocking Ryan into losers in Persona and placing second overall. Also, awesome work Ray for making it to UNIEL grand finals on winners side. I'm glad you enjoy playing the game now. I hope to see everyone at the next one in two weeks. Dippy, let me know what other side tourneys you guys plan to do and I'll make sure to add it to the info on the event page. I'll try to have it up during the middle of this week.
  7. I was gonna say, I swore those were the ones you showed me before. If they haven't shipped yet you could probably cancel your order and run by the frys electronics and pick it up. There's one within walking distance of UAT too.
  8. Rude. No Extend with that attitude, you just ruined it for everyone else. @clams : Welcome, and like Rath mentioned there just so happens to be a tournament this Saturday. We hope to see you there!
  9. Alright everyone, got the event finalized and everything. Here's the event page (Facebook event creation is stupid btw). Persona stayed in the lineup and everything is practically the same as before. Hope to see you all there and please bring setups if you can.
  10. Well as the TO for the next set of tourneys I was gonna make a longer post, but Jimmy was able to write out what I was gonna say, but better. You also beat me to using a picture of "hands" since DL has become a debate thread recently (although I'm partly to blame for that). @Will: But yeah, the venue fees and dustloop having to leave tgz to make way for the other tourneys are 2 parts of the same problem. You can't understand one and not the other. People aren't going to pay a venue fee if they can only stay for one game, especially a game where many people don't feel like playing competitively. UAT has always worked for us, or at least for the past year I've been a part of this group. You ask "why don't we use tgz?" but I ask "why would we need to?" UAT works, has space/tables/chairs for everyone, can accommodate the millions of kusoge that dustloop plays, and we never get bothered by staff and students. No one here actually hates tgz (you have to be evil incarnate to hate a local business) but we have never had a reason to need to use it when UAT has been working just as well for us.
  11. Don't mind the update too much. Maybe Johnny will actually make me enjoy Xrd, though I hear that in previous iterations he's been a difficult character to use.
  12. @Orrax: Dropping the streaming equipment has honestly never crossed my mind before. It would definitely reduce the amount of work needed. However, if Ryan feels that not utilizing it would feel like a waste, then I don't mind using it as well. It also gives people the chance to review their gameplay, which some people have shown interest in. @Dippy: Adding some of the other Animevo games could be pretty fun (I happened to recently obtain something by the ominous name of Arcana Heart 3: Love Max). But as others have mentioned we will most likely be constrained on time and won't be able to run tourneys for them. But if you wanted to try to run a tourney at the end of the day for one of these games then I wouldn't mind giving the reins over to you and sticking around so you could use the equipment. And as always, anyone is welcome to bring/play any game they want throughout the day for casuals. Somehow Street Fighter 4 made it into the last monthly on someones living room tv... Currently the notions for Persona are: 2 want the tourney 2 are indifferent 1 wants bbcpex I'll give it more time to see if anyone else has their two cents to give. No one has really "opposed" the game yet, so i'm currently leaning more towards keeping it.
  13. Double post, but I wanted to let everyone know that I will be setting up the next set of Anime Monthlies/Ranbats to help people prepare for EVO. The dates I have planned are June 13, June 27, and July 11, making these bi-weekly. As it currently stands, our long time archenemy "The Board Game Group" has room 206/207 reserved on the 13th and 11th for their world domination meetings. But according to UAT Jimmy they've been a no show for some time. So while 201 is what we have reserved, there may be a chance we can take 206/207 for the first and last ranbat (we will definitely be in 201 for the second ranbat). We will also have the streaming equipment again to record matches. I'm planning on keeping everything the same as it was before, with the games being Persona, Uniel, and Xrd and their timeframes as they were previously. However, I feel that with how Persona performed during the last few monthlies, it has become an issue that needs to be addressed. I'm not gonna do some speech about "saving" Persona, I can't force people to play a game they don't enjoy. But if I can count the number of people that actually play the game on one hand (Ryan, Luke, Erik, Nion, and myself) then I feel like it might not be worth having a tourney for it despite it being a main event game at EVO. I want to hear what others think of dropping Persona from the lineup and possibly changing the timeframes around for the other games. I know some people are unable to make it until later in the day and thus need certain games to be at a certain time. I do feel bad about suggesting this for the Persona players, but honestly there might be more experience to be had from casuals than a tourney where I have to convince 3 other people to join, or worse we make it round robin (blaz died shortly after we tried that method). So let me know what you guys think as well as your schedules. I want to accommodate for as many people as I can. Once we have everything figured out I'll post all the finalized decisions by the end of the week.
  14. Living up to the DFC name by adding Emi.
  15. I will go whenever the first person with a setup can make it. Which is looking like 3 when ruben can make it.
  16. I can go but only til dinner time. So i'm hoping some people can shoot for around 2.
  17. A lot of UNIEL news in the few past days, thought I'd share some of the fun with everyone here. Dengeki posted a video demoing Phonon. They only show some really basic stuff, but overall her moves look cool and her throw is hot (also new stage). https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hbQQesntdKE Apparently French Bread has been doing a survey asking people what character they want to see added to UNIest from a list of characters that made appearances in the story. So looks like Phonon may get a buddy to accompany her in the next version. System Mechanics : - The person who gets the first hit in a round automatically gets vorpal (ehhhhhhhh). - That OMB I mentioned earlier is called Cross Cast Veil Off. You need 100 meter and Vorpal to activate, knocks the opponent in the air and resets the current combo's wall/ground bounce counters. (Phonon does it in the video @7:20) Also notes from the loketests are going up and are in this thread. Still just day 2 of the first set of loketests, so like any loketest take it with a grain of salt. Currently, good news for Brian and Justin, Akatsuki buffs. And Ruben's "bitch" looks like she dodges a bullet this time around.
  18. We should all try to get something planned for this weekend at UAT. It's been awhile since we all just gathered and played some casuals, also the last ranbat is this weekend so Luke will probably be up here as well.
  19. I'm super excited for an uniel update. But does anyone know if that's supposed to be an official offensive veil off that orie is doing in the picture (Like a one more burst)? Damage is already a bit high in the game, i'm not sure if giving everyone this option is a good idea.
  20. Or you can be fancy like Ray and dodge it by double jumping then bursting in the air.
  21. Jwong has always liked gorilla characters (wolverine, rufus). He's in for a treat though if he expects anyone to be picked any time soon.
  22. I'd be down for games this Saturday, or any Saturday for the foreseeable future. Just finished the semester this week
