  1. I dont think you understand what drives Europe. Fighting games arent irrelevant over here because of the lack of EU releases. They are irrelevant because barely any decent ones make it to PC (the continents leading platform). The quality of well known fighting game ports generally is abysmal. BBCT and GG are the perfect examples for that. Another one is the most recent iteration of SF that used GFWL, a completely atrocious service, then switch to Steamworks which ended up making it almost impossible to play the game for 4+ months. Fighting games wont be relevant in Europe until the japanese finally feel like putting some effort into their ports. The competitive scene has a truckload of options and no reason to concentrate on the PSN. You can play CS, Quake, BW, SC2, WCTFT, Openarena, CPMA, DotA, League of Legends, Hearthstone etc. Whats supposed the be a persons motivation to buy an entire entertainment system for one genre, pay for online (in case of PSN+),be forced to buy a new peripheral (arcade controller) and maybe even headphones (because you cant just attach them to your Playstation) and a new screen (to assure HDMI input, some probably only have DVI/VGA (DVI-HDMI and VGA-HDMI cables tend to cause additional lag))? And all of that for inferior quality and a worse experience. The fact that most of them will lack friends who are interested in playing fighting games (arcade scene never existed outside of UK/France) is another problem. An EU release wont change that. Not even starting on the fact that PC is the vastly superior platform for voice chat, texting, research, hitbox/hurtbox analysis etc.
  2. Honestly, I dont even get why people would care about the EU release. All three available versions are cheaper than a EU version would ever be. We live in 2014. What exactly is the point of a physical copies anyway?
  3. The thing is that Xrd doesnt have terrible netcode. Its decent in lobby mode. I generally have 2-3 frames delay which is pretty damn good. However, they fucked up the ranked mode. Its a complete gamble. Guy can have 4 bars and you end up with 19 frames delay. Another one can have 0 bars and you will have 5. I dont know what went wrong here, especially since the lobbies are country specific (Spain, France, UK, Germany etc.). The ranked queue is just completely fucked. It only selects potential opponents by the amount of bars they have. And since that doesnt work properly it queues you against anyone, no matter what continent they are from. So no, its not the netcode, its the fact that they lack country flags and that the bars are bugged in ranked mode (they work totally fine in lobbies)
  4. Guess he means those https://twitter.com/jiyunaJP/status/537863903246426112 Wasnt able to find anything else though.
  5. Nah, 90% perma pummel you in the corner with upper cuts. Its pretty disgusting and theres not much you can do about it if you play a character with shit reversal options and 12f+ buffer. I really dont get how they managed to provide such a decent lobby experience and even seperated them by countries but throw you into ranked queue with people from other continents.
  6. Come on now, are you implying that a 19f delay isnt an enjoyable experience?
  7. Heh, so SFV just was announced to be PS4 and PC exclusive (which heavily implies cross platform play). So if someone wasnt sure about whether or not to get a PS4 and the 1080p version, heres another reason to buy one (assuming you dont have a powerful computer).
  8. I was expecting that by now but what exactly is the point of the bar system then? I mean, how can it show 4 bars and a perfect connection if the person is from another continent? Bars being inaccurate is one thing, but this completely defeats the purpose of their existence. Only further proves that we need country flags.
  9. The bars just seem highly inaccurate. I just joined a ranked lobby with 4 bars and had 19f delay. This is USFIV level of bar accuracy.
  10. I think I start to understand what people meant when they said that the netcode is abysmal. I have 2-3 frames against almost anyone in European lobbies. But as soon as I queue for a ranked match it doesnt matter if the connection has 0 or 4 bars, I will almost never have less than 7 frames delay. No idea whats going on here and why the difference is this incredible between normal lobby and ranked play.
  11. Alright, I start to believe that this has something to do with the European servers. I just tried various lobbies and I cant even join EU ones without losing the connection anymore. However, joining Asian, Australian or NA ones isnt a problem.
  12. Someone else got a bug in ranked play? Everytime I try to connect to a lobby it says that the match has been cancelled. Lobby play works totally fine for me but even if the person has a perfect connection this error occurs in ranked. Dont get why. Interesting: so as soon as I switch the PS internet connection to wireless this doesnt occur anymore. But it does with LAN. Now thats weird.
  13. I found that the processing mode actually looks better in some situations. An example for that is May's ship. Quality mode puts some really ugly characters in the background who look pretty lame due to 720p (low detailed models). In speed mode those are gone. Stage looks way better due to them missing.
  14. I dont really see how making different experiences is worshipping. All I know is that I played with Europeans and the game ran fine. A british person in this thread said that he has 2-3 frames delay on average, which is fine as well. You need to realize that, if the netcode was so garbage, then I wouldnt be able to play the way I can. Which leads us to the conclusion that its not just the netcode, but also peoples internet connection. No one ever said that the game, and especially netcode, it perfect. All I did was question certain parts of the story due to the shit I have seen on various streams while playing myself. Worshipping is something completely different.
  15. And it's not in my experience. So I have no reason to give americans, who apparently think that jumping from 2-7 frames delay is normal, the benefit of the doubt. We will see how this develops over the next couple weeks. As far as I can tell its fine. Not outstanding, but totally fine. But sure, make a video because I cant really follow what youre trying to imply anymore. Especially since my experience was vastly different. So I would be interested in seeing it first hand. I am not really sure how I am supposed to tell the difference by a clip though. After all, its not visible in game. Its something you perceive when pressing buttons. In fact,it might be worth mentioning that the game doesnt give you any information about your opponents country of residence. Meaning, if you play in a Tokyo lobby there could be people from Australia in there. I could join them as well, even though being a european player (I think, I didnt try it but it looked freely accessible to me). Due to the connection establishing P2P you will both end up with a completely abysmal experience. All you see is the Framebuffer of the opponent, but you cant tell where hes from. In games like SF you immediately could kick Peruvians if you were european because you knew (thanks to the flag) that this wont work. I feel like we need something like this in Xrd as well, especially since you can join lobbies globally. Hell, when I select "European Lobbies" it gives me Australia as an option.
  16. You dont have a sub par connection if the netcode has to account for 3-4F delay for a guy who lives in the same area. Thats up to 66,8ms. I played people from Russia who live on the other end of the continent and had 2F, and my internet is pretty abysmal by modern standards. No idea who youre trying to fool here but your story simply doesnt match. Besides, 3F is far from being bad and certainly doesnt mean that you have to input everything super early. Do you even realize how little 50,1ms actually are? Yes, you can notice a delay compared to offline play. But we have been over this multiple times already.
  17. I dont get what people were expecting. 2F delay accounts for 33,4ms of latency. 3F account for 50,1ms of latency. This is the average amount of delay you will have by default due to the fact that the game is online. Not even GGPO provides a true arcade experience, it still varries between 0,1-16,6ms difference to perfection. 2F-3F are perfectly fine to play fighting games at. However, people who spike between 2F-7F have no right to complain. They either have 3rd world level connections or play wireless. Thats a range of 80ms+, and go from 33,4ms to 116,9ms. Again, I dont know what sort of people you play against but I did play a few sets yesterday, or rather last night, and I didnt have any problems. I honestly would like a poll or something where we can rate the online based on where we come from. Because I am pretty certain that most people who are complaining are from the US. I watched a stream for a couple minutes yesterday and the guy kept ranting about shitty netcode, yet his latency had a frame buffer range of 6, going from 3-9.
  18. I have the game infront on me, on one of my other screens. If youre really trying to tell me that this looks like a PS2 title then I would ask you to visit an optician or try to start judging things a bit more objectively.
  19. What sort of screen are you playing on if I may ask? I am using a 24" MVA panel and they look quite decent if you sit ~70-80cm away from the monitor. As soon as you come closer however you can make out certain, less detailed areas. Only further convinces me to get the PS4 and I would, if it wouldnt force me to pay 400 bucks for a no games station, buy a new stick and pay for PSN+ on top of that. But as far as I can tell the game looks fine. The bigger the screen the less good it looks, obviously. 24" is the biggest size you still wanna run 1080p on, anything else should use 1440p. So its obvious that 720p looks a bit pixelated, especially when your screen is shit at scaling down from native resolution which will most likely be 1080p.
  20. I dont really see how its even supposed to be less on average. 2F basically account for 33,4ms, which I would claim the majority of players in Europe or Japan will end up having.Thats completely fine. In fact, its probably pretty good. The average will most likely be higher.
  21. As expected, online seems to be shit for US players and no one else. I tuned into a stream yesterday and overheard someone complain about the online play of the game, just to see his frame delay in the lobby randomly jumping between 2 and 5 frames. Thats not the netcode, its people have 3rd world level internet. Wouldnt surprise me if a lot of them play wireless.
  22. You realize that without stable 60fps you cant even play the game properly, right?
  23. European lobbies have Australia as an option. Nice touch. I hope this is intended and they didnt mix it up with Austria.
  24. We are probably forced to wait until the store updates and then download her as a DLC.
  25. Looking at that 720p resolution running on my 24" screen I really want to get a PS4 for 1080p now.
