  1. The background isnt even less detailed as far as I can tell from that low resolution picture. If that's all we need to put up with to assure stable 60fps, 100% of the time, then I am more than happy.
  2. Well, as a Brit you shouldn't have a problem with online play to begin with. Unless your ISP is abysmal you will end up with 20-45ms, no matter who you play. Whether he's Swedish, German, Russian or Italian. 2-3 frames delay are fine, especially if the netcode works towards it. The same applies for Japan. Americans simply are unlucky in that regard unless you live in populated areas like New York. That's how it is and it won't change. Offline play is always favourable, but for some of us online play is a reasonable alternative.
  3. I dont want to rain on your parade but US net play is horrible due to physics. No netcode in the world will make 100ms an enjoyable experience. So you are somewhat forced to play people from your area and hope that there are enough to fill a lobby. If you're unlucky and live in a state with a low population density youre fucked. This has always been the case. It's one of the reasons why League of Legends has so much success in the US. Its a competitive title that can be played with 100ms latency. Playing east to west coast is a complete chore, even with something like GGPO. The same applies for north east to south east. The US simply is a shitty country for online play due to its sheer size. Nothing a developer can do about it unless you find a way to speed up the way data is send from A to B. Spoiler Alert: will mostly not be discovered for another decade. Yes, the netcode will be tailored for japanese people, and by default also for europeans (and here I am, hoping that europeans will play it so I wont end up being alone). Its the logical thing to do.
  4. So I heard right. I just thought that this was so illogical that there's no way for it to be true.
  5. Are you sure? I still dont get this whole Elphelt mess. Some people say you can download her for free if you do so in the first 3 weeks after release, others say you had to pre order the game. Do we have any confirmation for either of the possibilities?
  6. Thats why I said that common sense dictates that the game will be fine. ASW will not want to lose a truckload of potential customers over lying or delivering a shitty product. The PS4 isnt an exception. It simply is retarded to assume that a game runs the way it should because the developer says so, especially if you base your statement off of a location test where they tell you ye ye thats the ps3 my friend. Commong sense and basic economical understanding should tell you that the game will run fine, not some shilling marketer at an event.
  7. I dont really get your question. No, we dont know when the HK release is. Could be the 4th, maybe the 18th, maybe next year. I couldnt find any information on that. As for the cost, it usually is ~10-20% markup, at least from what I have seen.
  8. I dont know how often I have to repeat it: he was told that it's the PS3 version, he didn't see it or put the disc into the console himself. If I tell you that your Golf runs a formula one engine, will you believe me? The reason why you should assume that it runs at 60fps is because ASW would lose a shit ton of customers if it didn't. I posted this before Console devs saying that the game is currently running on a console when they show it to the public aren't to be trusted. However, common sense dictates that ASW will have done their homework.
  9. Half past 4 in the morning and suddenly my toaster PS3 launches by itself and wakes me up.
  10. I was under the assumption that shes available the day the game unlocks. Free for all pre orders of JP and for the first 3 weeks or something on NA.
  11. If all the setting does is affect background effects I truly couldn't care less. What counts is the modern look (for a fighting game) and models that actually have sleek, high resolution textures. Not the shitty high resolution pixel art sprites (whoever came up with that idea) BlazBlue uses.
  12. More like days. I can give you feedback as soon as the JP version goes live. Because the game looks too good to run at 60fps on that 20 year old toaster. I have my doubts as well but simply trust them to be competent enough. They know that anything sub 60fps wouldnt be acceptable.
  13. You don't seem to get it. It's not the customers job to make sure that the product he purchases has a reasonable quality. It's the companies. A fighting game that doesn't run at 60fps is worthless. That's something ASW will be aware of. So they will have made sure that it runs at 60fps because if it wouldn't they would ruin their reputation as a developer since they would basically have screwed thousands. The only problem I had with your post was that you basically said that people should be grateful for the game coming to PS3. Which is wrong. ASW makes the game cross platform to maximuze their profits, not because they like us. If the game wouldn't generate more money by releasing it on PS3, then they wouldn't bother developing it. Meaning: No one has to be grateful for them seeing the opportunity to make more money.
  14. This is the sort of attitude that should be considered being a corporate drone. The game should run at 60fps. If it doesn't ASW delivered a shit product. If they aren't able to release a working product they shouldn't even try. Due to everybody assuming that they do they would outright scam people if they couldn't. ASW doesn't release this game on PS3 because they love their customers. They do so because they want to maximize profits. Get that into your head. They aren't some sort of charity that cares about you. It's a profit based company that doesn't give a shit about whether people are pissed or not as long as it doesn't hurt them from an economical standpoint. People can complain as much as they want if the fps turn out to be anything but 60. In fact, I would request a refund. You don't have to be grateful for anything.
  15. Nope. Activated the preload via store but nothing happened yet. Running PS3.
  16. Was planning to get the NA version but I think I will snatch the JP version in a couple days. Since I am european I will have to pay a premium anyway, so why not save 2 weeks? My only concern is that it will take them a year to patch english menu later. Then again, its a console fighting game. Not like theres going to be much in the menu.
  17. Did anyone of you bother ever to import the JP version of BlazBlue? Did that game get an english language patch as well?
  18. That tweet made me want to buy the JP version. But ArcSys saying that they "plan to patch it later"... not really convincing if you ask me. Still not sure if I will go for the JP or NA version.
  19. Does anyone of you know whether the game will be available on PSN? I overheard a bunch of people who said that they will just buy US PSN credit and get the game that way (the way you would usually buy DLC). I was under the impression that you need a physical copy, ergo have to import it if youre european. If there's a way around having to do so I would really like to know. CBA waiting multiple weeks because customs needs ages to send out a notification again.
  20. You're trying to overwrite peoples opinions with your own. That simply doesn't work. If someone says that doing hard stuff is what he enjoys most, saying that he's wrong (which is basically what you're doing) is nothing else but pants on head retarded. I am pretty sure that there are people who like to do hard stuff for the sake of it being hard. Which automatically means that these changes will not improve the game for them. So no, it's not literally everyone else who will have a better time.
  21. I am just gonna put this out there. Believe me, I would be more than happy if what they say is true. All I am saying is that a developer claiming that his product runs well isn't anything new. And just because it says that a game is being played on a PS3, isn't evidence that this actually is the case. I will remain skeptical as long as people didn't have the chance to put the disc of the retail version into their own Playstation and can confirm that it indeed runs well.
  22. Care to explain how he got his hands on a PS3 copy of the game that he uses in his very own Playstation 3 when its going to be officially released in december 2014? Let me guess, you talk about the arcade version that is supposed to be the PS3 version according to the developer, right? As I said, the person who sells you something isn't the most trustworthy source since he has an interest in making money. So no, evidence that it will run at 60FPS at all times doesn't exist. It will as soon as the game got released in Japan though (assuming that what they said is true).
  23. No one should take this for granted until they played the actual PS3 version themselves. False advertising is incredibly common amongst developers. Especially japanese ones (most recently Namco pulled such a stunt again). I will probably not import the game either prior to having evidence that it indeed runs stable. The publisher saying that everything is fine really doesn't convince me.
  24. I doubt that it will change anything. I cant see someone buying a PS4 for Xrd alone, so sticks being compatible wont change much. The PS4 simply doesn't have any fighting game title as of now. So unless you already own one, in which case you probably also own a compatible stick, this probably won't have much impact. But it's nice that someone finally bothers with the topic. As soon as the system finally has games to play it might become relevant. Correct me if I am mistaken but isn't it usually up to the developer of a game to provide support for older peripherals or not? If that's the case then the fact that ArcSys/Aksys didn't bother to design one further strengthens my theory.
  25. Theres a gigantic difference between something being duller than it used to be and being dull altogether. A guy who 6'4 isnt small either, yet he's smaller than a guy whos 6'5. People need to stop to interpret things in a way that it can be used to prove their point. Let alone that I dont really get where youre coming from with this assumption that elitism keeps out people. Calling certain things easy is incredibly common in any community. Be that MMORPGs, MOBAs or competitive games in general. Every community has its fair share of people who call you out for using X and not using Y instead. If a person gives a shit about whether other people call him cheap then he didnt understand that a competitive game isnt about appealing to your opponent, but to beat him. Hell, there are people who shit talk you in Counter Strike for using the AWP. So unless you play something that is completely broken and results in people refusing to play against you (which wont stay broken for long because we can balance patch nowadays) then theres not much of a reason to care. edit: Also, I think you misunderstand why franchises such as Guilty Gear are niche. First, the entire genre is. Second, the game looked outdated. This might not be a problem to people who value gameplay over visuals, but its one of the central things that the casual crowd cares about. It needs to have at least a certain appeal to it for people to actually care. The games look outdated, so are their features (no tutorial, inaccessible data and tech, online is a chore), so it obviously is almost impossible to bring in a lot of people. If you dislike the look of a product you will probably not even bother looking into its mechanics/use. A good example for that is the success of companies such as Apple or Zara. Your game doesnt need to be a graphical revolution and use 80k+ polygons per model. But it should at least try to look like the industry standard. Another thing that fighting games generally fail to do. BlazBlue for example looks terrible (pixelated HD sprites). It doesnt matter if the artstyle is decent (I dont even think it is), it still looks outdated. The same applies for KOF and many other games. The only sprite game that matches a certain standard is Skullgirls. The sprites are sleek, HD and look really good. Which lead to many people buying it. The fact that the gameplay and roster were rather meh lead to its downfall. With Xrd the franchise (for the first time) gets rid of these problems. The title doesnt look outdated anymore. Yet, it still is an anime fighter, which generally appeals way less to westerners than lets say a game that focuses on fighting as Wolverine. All I am saying is that elitism is not what keeps the community small. Its the least of our problem. Its everything combined (and probably the fact that fighting games shut out the most competitive community in gaming, which are PC players). The fact that to this day fighting games still require you to do something that no other genre does is just the cherry on top. Leaving the house takes many out of their comfort zone and I can understand why. Local communities are far from being common in a lot of areas. And until this changes, a proper online environment is established and tournaments can comfortably held via net (which will probably never happen) the genre will always stay niche. It's as simple as that.
