  1. Nothing really special...except the fact that I have yet to see any other character pull off 50% life combos from rather simple looking moves. Jin looks like he outputs a ton of damage too, but that involves using freezes.
  2. You're supposed to input the 66 so that the second 6 comes out on the first frame you are able to act. It's supposed to be a jump that gives you more forward momentum than just a regular jump (9) while you're doing j.s so that you can add on a j.hs, j.d, orbs without getting pushed away. Basically, it shouldn't look like you're dashing at all.
  3. "/ Ky" read "slash ky," as in guilty gear slash. I haven't played slash, but from what I hear, Ky was pretty unbalanced with his meaty charged stun edge mix ups. Basically what he's saying is don't be afraid to perform a meaty bloodball on a knocked down opponent.
  4. I had a chance to play a jam yesterday for about a good 2 hours. What he kept doing was running in and hitting me with 2D and jumping out. Her speed is blinding! At first I thought I could danzai it but he could hit me with 2D, it'd get eaten by danzai, and he'd be able to IAD back out with me still in danzai animation...I couldn't hit him with 5S because I'd be too close and his 2D would come out faster than my 5S, but I could hit him with 5HS to outrange him and sometimes get counterhits, but I had to be pretty precise on spacing. When I could finally catch up to him it was okay, but he'd parry some of the normal pressure strings and then I'd be across the screen and the headache of catching up to him started again. So I guess 5HS is our friend.
  5. Lol, moroha vs. young: *after third knockdown* "that's an instant kill", "KILL, KILL! NOW!!!" moroha vs. dropgate: *after jump in slash, both characters duck for 2-3 seconds*: "...where's your burst?!" So I finally ran into SoCal's gg scene. Too bad they meet fucking 81 miles away from me! And toying with young using potemkin. You're awful
  6. Dang, that's a lot of information! After going back into training mode and seeing how different characters reacted to different hits, I found that some characters DO get hit by 2K 5S 2S sj.K. However, a lot others don't, so I guess I need to practice other JC options. Awwwwww, effing Wednesdays. Wednesdays are my worst days, with a lab from 6:00pm - 9:00pm and tons of homework due the next day. Are you guys ever free from Thursday afternoon till the end of the weekend? Thanks for the advice so far everyone! Time to go practice some more!
  7. I'm just practicing combos that were listed in Moroha's guide. 6H jc j.S j.H j.D orbs is another one I'm practicing as well as others. I don't think I'm quite at the level to judge what's safe/better to use in live match/tournaments settings seeing how I picked up the game 4 days ago.
  8. Hey guys. I'd like to introduce myself to the dustloop community, and more specifically the A.B.A community. I've played GGXX before (dicking around at arcades with my friends because the game looked cool), but never seriously until about 4 days ago. After watching a couple of Dio's videos, and reading up on a couple guides (Moroha's and Poon's), I am certain I wanted to make A.B.A my main, so here I am! For right now, I'm trying to learn bread-and-butter combos. There's really no fighting game scene where I am (Johns Hopkins University in Baltimore), so I'm just practicing combos and basic moves until I can get back to my hometown of L.A., where I have Family Fun Arcade to get some casuals in (FFA YEAHH!!). I have a question about some general combos. In Moroha's guide, one of the staple combos show a rekka groundslide canceled into 2K, 5S, 2S, sj.K, jS, Keygrab. My problem is that when I go for the superjump, my j.K doesn't come out until I'm above the opponent, totally whiffing instead. In fact, whenever I superjump cancel, I'm whiffing all my kicks, no matter how fast I mash. Am I not superjump cancelling fast enough or something? Also, I have a little practice against live competition with the guys from my dorm. Thing is, they're all scrubs who mash 236K or 214K with Ky. Regardless, I seem to be losing to them a lot. I think my main problem is that I lack a good high-low mixup game, and I also don't quite know how to "crank that guard meter up," as it's put in a couple guides. Do I just keep comboing the opponent in the corner while they block until I can land a hit from my mixup? Also, Moroha, I saw your SE-R video. What does it mean by State vs. State? And it looks like you're on the Maryland team? Are you anywhere close to JHU by chance? If so, any chance you know of an arcade in the area, and would you be willing to meet up? Thanks for putting up with this wall of text!
