Tournament format will be double elimination. Matches are set to one game, 2/3 rounds. Top 2 finishers of P4U will be selected to represent Japan at NEC of this year. The top finisher of BBEX will be selected to represent Japan at NEC of this year. If a winner of P4U also wins BBEX, the ticket to Japan for BBEX will be defaulted to then 2nd place finisher. Prizes: The top 2 finishers of P4U and the top finisher of BB will have an all expenses paid trip to Philadelphia, PA to complete against America at NEC (December 1st-2nd 2012). Background: [*]Early this year, @kiriyama44 reached out to me with interest in running a Japanese qualifier for NEC. How could I turn this opportunity down? With the recent release of Persona and the hype it's generated, it's time to make the air-dash community shine. It's time to set up for the hypest event ever. I have always called NEC the tournament to attend for air-dashers. In the past we've had good turnouts for Melty Blood, Guilty Gear, and BlazBlue, but not one year has really stood out above all the rest. This year I plan to change that: I want our best against Japan's best. Only a couple times have the Japanese come to specifically compete against us in Guilty Gear and BlazBlue. Just this once I want to give people the shot to really see if they have what it takes to play against the best in the world. I'm doing this for the air-dashers out there. I want you to come out and have fun at NEC, and I want you to walk away a better player because of it. Come and learn what real competition and hype are like. NEC info can be found here and here. You people wanted a hype major? You got it. Media [*]In order to hype and spread interest for this event, OgreLive has been running netplay FT10 sets of high-skilled Japanese players in P4U. These have been streamed on NicoNico, but our very own @Jourdal has uploaded these to his YouTube account for easy viewing. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YeCprvUsHF8&list=PLE4D5F423CFAE5D0C&index=1&feature=plpp_video http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=aY6VHOoub6M&list=PL190371F388B6888E&index=1&feature=plpp_video http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=iCw4RW7TVm4&list=PLAE609C54FCD5E768&index=1&feature=plpp_video http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=X8eG6ZBCxN8&list=PLmvZt7egaTbJrbjy7044A3-nLJHKNxNy1&index=1&feature=plpp_video
  2. No go for me Justin. Still a little sick. Even if I feel a lot better tomorrow I still won't want to take the chance of getting others sick. Thanks for the invite. Maybe I can try to netplay you guys at some point lolllll
  3. I won't be helping anyone out with a room this time around. You have been warned. As soon as that link drops you better have your plans sorted out. Also, if you can bring equipment, such as Monitors/PS3s/Games let me know. It was a huge help at Summer Jam, and I only see more people coming to NEC. We'll also have more space this time around too!
  4. I love all of you. The Canadian invasion was too much.
  5. Yes, the venue is bigger and we'll be getting more room. Also, you guys might want to plan on getting into Philly sometime Friday afternoon. There might be a small anime event the night before NEC...
  6. The BB pot bonus is actually the pot bonus from last year. As Eric said: it's a typo.
  7. I think that might be AirMaster's. I gave him one of mine to have in the meantime.
  8. I have someone's PS3 pad USB cable. It is marked with a little piece of masking tape but it's ripped so I cannot read the name. Let me know if it's yours.

  11. It's would be very much appreciated. Eric: yes we're doing some sort of teams Sunday.
  12. Andy: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=N23jTK2zel0&feature=player_detailpage#t=1579s
  13. I've got your friend covered since EOD can't make it. You have LK's contact info right? When you get to the hotel just ask him where my room is. Yes, you may use PS3 pads. If you want to be godlike, remove the battery. If you want to be extra godlike, remove the battery on a Dualshock 3. Also, if I can't get enough teams for the special event I'll just just make is BB/P4U since the number for GG players that show up will definitely be the limiting factor. Remember to bring headphones people. I know someone is going to show up and complain that they can't hear the setups. I'm going to tell you to your face to hold that shit. Don't be an idiot.
  14. If I feel like I have time to play I can team with people Sunday. I play GG.
  15. Evereyone is probably going to Summer Jam, and then the next thing people will be going to is Justin's. There is the Rokrew tournament soon though. I think next Friday at Eight on the Break?
  16. 4 full setups. Awesome. You guys are too good. BTW, Bibi, I got a 4G hotspot with unlimited bandwidth, so you can record AND stream Friday night if you want. Add an even to the dustloop calendar.
  17. Just a double-check, but how many setups do you guys plan on bringing?
  18. Please let me know if you cannot bring certain equipment anymore then what I have listed for you. If you are not coming to the tournament anymore and staying in one of my rooms please let me know. Equipment List St1ckBuG (1 CRT + 1 PS2 + 1 GGAC + 1 Monitor) LordKnight (1 PS3 + 1 BBCSE + 1 P4U) Amadeous (1 CRT + 2 PS2 + 2 GGAC + 2 PS3 + 2 P4U + 1 BBCSE) Mr. Mortified (2 Monitors + 1 PS3 + P4U + BBCSE) Montreal (4 Monitors + 4 PS3 + 4 P4U + 4 BBCSE) OchiChernye (1 PS3 + 1 P4U) Darkcloud (1 Monitor) Brandino (1 CRT) CRTs: 3 PS2s: 3 GGAC: 3 Monitors: 7 PS3s: 9 P4U: 9 BBCSE: 7 Room List Myself DC + 1 Mynusdono DaiAndOh EOD TD Lich mikenapalm VashTS Komidol SKD Rokunaya Achtzehn Darkcloud + 1 Alzarath
  19. Pre-regs give me no idea how many people are going to enter. The only time it gives you a good number is when it's pre-reg ONLY. BTW, since you have to drive to get any kind of food in the morning, the AG breakfast is FUCKING GODLIKE. You don't have to leave the hotel and it's only a couple bucks (compared to the expensive hotel food). Bring a toy for charity and be extra godlike. !!!ANNOUNCEMENT ANNOUNCEMENT ANNOUNCEMENT!!! JUST TO REMIND EVERYONE, IF YOU WANT TO BE ABLE TO HEAR THE SETUPS AT SUMMER JAM: BRING HEADPHONES. !!!ANNOUNCEMENT ANNOUNCEMENT ANNOUNCEMENT!!! The stream setup will have audible speakers, but most likely you won't be playing all of your matches on it. Any type of headphones with a 3.5mm jack works. Please plan ahead!
  20. I'm not sure If I'll even need that many setups. I feel like BB is going to get very few entrants. There wasn't even a tournament for it at TSB? That's a shame. I asked Eric to hook me up with a couple monitors. We'll see what happens. P4U will be $10 like everything else.
  21. On Saturday, please show up before 12. I have no idea how many people will be entering P4U, so I want to get started ASAP.
  22. I was spoiled since I never had to pay a ridiculous price for a place to stay, but I'll give you a general idea. The flight will run you anywhere from 1100-1400 round trip depending on the time of year and day you plan to leave and come back. Hostels are cheap and run anywhere from $20-$80 (in Tokyo), but they probably average around $40 a night for a bed. You'd be better off asking someone else about this cost of the trip since I always stayed in someone's apartment the whole time, so I didn't have to pay much (if anything at all) per night. For transportation, if you plan on traveling to a couple major cities I would suggest getting a rail-pass. This lets you use the Shinkansen (bullet trains) and slower and smaller commuter trains an unlimited amount of times to (almost) any destination you'd want to go to for an overall set price. The price changes depending on how long you want to stay in Japan for. I stayed for two weeks and it was somewhere around $480 for a rail-pass. You have to order your rail-pass before going to Japan, and you exchange the voucher they send you for the physical pass you will use at the stations. For example, LK and I bought our rail-passes and a few weeks later we landed in Japan. We went to the office in the airport to exchange them and got on the NEXT train to Tokyo, which was covered by the rail-pass. While we were in Tokyo all we had to do was walk through the manned gate and show them our pass and they let us through. We never had to pay anymore fare to ride the trains that were on the JR-lines. It was very convenient. We wanted to visit Jiyuna in Nagoya, so we got Shinkansen tickets to Nagoya (which were also covered by the pass). Shinkansen tickets aren't very cheap. 1-way fares, depending on where you're going and range anywhere from $80-$150 bucks one-way. So if you wanted to visit Tokyo > Nagoya > Kyoto > Osaka > Hiroshima, or something like that, you're looking at a ton of money. With a rail-pass you're only paying a couple hundred and saving yourself lots of hassle and money in the process. If you decide to not get a rail pass, the NEXT train from Narita Airport to Tokyo costs about $40 one way. There are a couple other trains that run to Narita as well but the price is comparable (~$25). The trains around Tokyo will cost you a couple bucks each time you get on, and the price changes depending on where you get off, IIRC. Food prices are about the same as here: less than 10 bucks for fast food and there are convenience stores everywhere. If you wanted to get something better than cheap food you're going to have to pay for it of course, but I found beef bowls, ramen, and curry more than enough. I went out to eat at special places occasionally but I had a Japanese assist, so ordering was never a problem. Total you're looking anywhere between $2000 - $3000+ depending on how much spending cash you want to bring and how expensive your hostel is. My advice: save ~3K+ and get a rail-pass, this will give you tons of spending cash and cushion for yourself in-case anything unexpected happens. Stay in Tokyo for a bit but then visit the other majors cities (Kyoto, Naogya, Osaka) as well. Give yourself 2 weeks. I might go again in the spring, but I'm not too sure yet.
