  1. In a sense, yeah. Casuals are usually on Weds and Fri nights. Cali Burst is every first Saturday, Dogfight is every third Saturday. IIRC Smash usually takes the second Saturday. PM me if you have any questions.
  2. At the events, we have casuals after the tournaments and when the big tournaments are over, casual stations start becoming available. For sessions, we play casuals every Weds/Fri night and sometimes on Saturdays as well. Are you new to fighting games or just new to Guilty Gear? Skill levels are all across the board and everyone is welcome, newbie or veteran. Some of us have been playing since 2007 or so and some only started a year or two ago. The best way to train is to get involved in the local community =] If you have any other questions and would like a more immediate response, we can exchange contact info of some sorts. Pleased to make your acquaintance.
  3. Here's the tournament schedule for this week's Dogfight. Note, these are not stream times, these are bracket times. 3:00pm venue opens, signups open 4:00pm GGAC+R 4:30pm GGXrd 6:00pm UNIEL 8:00pm DFC 10:00pm Gundam EXVSFB All events will be double elimination singles, Gundam is to be determined. If we get more than 32 signups for Xrd, then we will have pools to make things easier and each pool will have a designated bracket runner and pool area. We will be running several setups for Xrd (current estimate is 6), please be sure to notify your bracket runner if you need to leave the venue for a significant amount of time. As always, the venue fee is $7 and there are no entry fees for the tournaments themselves. Spectating is free. If you are new to our events, please read the first post. Important information such as the ground rules, the address, parking availability, can be found there.
  4. For the month of October, Dogfight will be on the 4th Saturday of the month, not the 3rd, so it'll be on October 25th. If you weren't going to make it because you had to study for midterms or something, you should be able to make it now!
  5. Hello, sorry this is rather short notice but here is the Dogfight schedule for this Saturday! BBCP players, please note that we are aiming to run BB as early as possible now so come early! Most of you come pretty early anyways but for anyone who comes a little later and might miss it this Sat, this is for you. Since GG and BB don't have much overlap, I figure that it'd be best to run them at the same time and UNIEL should start later since it's going to have a lot of overlap with both GG and BB. I have not allotted specific times for AH3LM or AP but if people want to do something, it could be during or after UNIEL. CvS2 has been moved to Cali Burst so there will be no CvS2 tourny. Gundam has been moved to the evening to free up more setups and to make it easier for people to participate. If anyone has questions, comments, or feedback, I'd like to hear it! Of course, the times I have written are estimates and if given the chance to run things earlier than planned, we will do so without hesitation =] 3pm doors open, reg for GGACR, BBCP, UNIEL, EXVSFB 4pm GGACR and BBCP starts 5:30pm UNIEL starts 9:30pm EXVSFB starts Fred style schedule for readability: Time GGAC+R BBCP UNIEL EXVSFB 3:00 -REG- -REG- -REG- ---- 3:30 -REG- -REG- -REG- ---- 4:00 BEGIN BEGIN -REG- ---- 4:30 MATCH MATCH -REG- ---- 5:00 MATCH MATCH -REG- ---- 5:30 MATCH MATCH BEGIN ---- 6:00 TOP8 MATCH MATCH ---- 6:30 ---- TOP8 MATCH ---- 7:00 ---- ---- MATCH -REG- 7:30 ---- ---- TOP8 -REG- 8:00 ---- ---- ---- -REG- 8:30 ---- ---- ---- -REG- 9:00 ---- ---- ---- -REG- 9:30 ---- ---- ---- BEGIN
  6. Yes, unfortunately there are too many games for our humble event. I've been worried about this for a while but I haven't come up with a solution yet other than to only stream top 4~8 of every game. More importantly, after gauging everyone's responses yesterday, Dogfight will be on the 26th this month, NOT the 19th! Also if you're interested in UNIEL, check this out! http://www.dailymotion.com/video/x21fg7l_uniel-beginners-workshop_videogames
  7. Hello, this is short notice but after gauging responses on Facebook and Twitter, I have decided to move Dogfight to the 4th Saturday this month so people can rest up from AX and EVO and so that we can have UNIEL which will come out right before the new date. However, if you are feeling particularly salty or inspired after EVO, there will be some meetups where you can mash casuals so don't fret. Just because there isn't a Dogfight doesn't mean that there won't be mashing. Thanks in advance for everyone's cooperation and understanding.
  8. Wireless pads will be banned. To accommodate for pad players, there is, unfortunately, too much room for user error and as a result, too much responsibility is placed on TOs like myself to ensure that everything will run smoothly. However, pad players should be responsible as well. At EVO this year, I was very offended at the lack of respect and apology from team "Bear Cat" as they failed to understand the gravity of the situation until I fucking told them off. Fortunately, most of the concerning issues that come with pads can be avoided by simply banning the usage of wireless pads. If you want to play on pad, YOU ARE RESPONSIBLE FOR ANYTHING THAT HAPPENS AS A RESULT OF YOUR PAD. The same applies to stick users as well! To ensure that everything runs successfully and smoothly, participants need to do their part as well. We may be an unofficial side tournament but we are at EVO, an internationally renown event, and we will try our best to adhere to EVO standards. I was very ashamed that I failed to DQ team "Bear Cat" but they did not give me a proper explanation right away and I was in a rush so I made the wrong decision. Failing to properly DQ them ended up dicking over our Japanese guest as he did not understand that it was a proper rematch. I cannot be at four places at once, especially with multiple things happening at the same time. I need the full cooperation and understanding of everyone who enters our tournaments.
  9. Monitors will be really helpful, need monitors!!! Thanks in advance! I'm looking forward to meeting everyone at EVO =)
  10. @Pnoth: There usually is one as long as someone brings it and you are welcome to bring one yourself.
  11. @ipirate9: Where in the East Bay are you? There are some people around the Concord area. @Mayftw: I don't understand why you are asking but EVO is at the LVH and I will be staying at the LVH.
  12. It probably seems untechable because it was set to neutral tech instead of forward/back. Neutral teching is slower than forward/back so if your goal is to get out of a black beat combo, don't neutral tech.
  13. Well Pleasanton is pretty east... our events are usually on the Peninsula and I think most people live on the Peninsula, the South Bay, the East Bay, or around SF. There are also people who live in the North Bay like around the Sac/Davis area and the Concord/Fairfield area.
  14. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BfdMF8_MuEc#t=28m40s I skipped to the middle thinking that it'd be a good idea but... wtf am I watching... are you guys seriously just jumping and mashing at each other for reals -_- pick some specific matches first imo
  15. We will return to our usual schedule (every 3rd Saturday) starting with the next one which will be on the 17th =)
  16. yea I go to university. 右特 is 6AC for Ez8 in BR mode
  17. I main Reborns now but haven't been playing lately due to school. I will post about Heavyarms in the Maxi Boost discussion thread so I won't derail this thread~
  18. Unfortunately I don't play Heavyarms anymore but I wouldn't mind. He actually looks kinda playable in Maxi Boost though.
  19. I don't play Ez8 but looking at the movelist and description on the wiki, It is most definitely 4AC.
  20. 連 in that context is short for ボタン連打(mashing) - Banshee's NT-D 特格 has a special property where you can get more damage by mashing the input
  21. only watched grand finals. you can beat her whirlwind super with tyrant rave on the topic of pressure: could probably try to throw more... if you're going to bait a burst, you don't have to drop the combo, do j.[1]pppp~ and stop hitting p when the burst starts up you could probably take more games if you ran more varied oki like safe jump j.S into jc j.H for the fuzzy, 2D gunblaze AC FRC into 5D or dash 2K could be more on point with punishing vertical dolphins on block (don't FD, it makes it harder) if you're going to AC FRC BHB 2 then you should dash CK GB AC as well... don't need to FRC just to do 6H things to try next time possibly: maybe try to get to level 3 more? level 2 and 3 gunblaze are good for antiair. punish shallow jump ins by making them whiff with 2D and then throwing them.
  22. Dogfight will be on April 26 this month which will be the fourth Saturday, not the third Saturday.
  23. The 19th would be our default date but it collides with NCR. I was considering moving the date so we wouldn't collide with NCR but due to special circumstances regarding Gundam (Socal visiting, JP player visiting, Socal already got time off in advance, NCR date didn't get announced until recently, want to prioritize Gundam), there is a good chance that it will be on the 19th. Trying to set the date in stone asap, will keep everyone posted.
