  1. Thanks! If you have any questions, don't hesitate to ask! Alright everyone, I've taken some time to simulate exactly how Guilty Gear will run and I've ironed out all the details. If you have any questions, suggestions, or feedback, I'd like to hear it! Norcal Dogfight GGAC League #1 Participants will be divided into Round Robin pools of 5, 6, or 7 entrants (depending on turnout). The top 3 of each pool will then advance to a single-elim bracket. Examples of RR pools: 10 people? 2 pools of 5. 11? (1 * 5) + (1 * 6) 12? 2 * 6 13? (1 * 6) + (1 * 7) 14? 2 * 7 15? (3 * 5) 16? (2 * 5) + (1 * 6) 17? (1 * 5) + (2 * 6) 18? (3 * 6) 19? (2 * 6) + (1 * 7) 20? (4 * 5) 21? (3 * 5) + (1 * 6) 22? (2 * 5) + (2 * 6) 23? (1 * 5) + (3 * 6) 24? (4 * 6) 25? (5 * 5) 26? (4 * 5) + (1 * 6) 27? (3 * 5) + (2 * 6) 28? (2 * 5) + (3 * 6) 29? (1 * 5) + (4 * 6) 30? (5 * 6) 31a? (1 * 7) + (4 * 6)? 5 pools 31b? (5 * 5) + (1 * 6)? 6 pools 32? (4 * 5) + (2 * 6) How do we determine the top 3 that escape their pool? We score them based on their performance. 3 pts = 2 - 0 2 pts = 2 - 1 1 pts = 1 - 2 0 pts = 0 - 2 In the event that 2 players have the same score, whoever won in their round robin matchup will take priority in advancing. (i.e. A and B are tied but A beat B in pools so A advances and B may not get to advance) We take the top 3 scoring players from each pool and advance them into a single elimination bracket. Of course we could also divide them into 3-man pools of Round Robin and from there... take the top 1 or 2 players from each pool and do something else... but in the interest of time, let's not do that. ... now in the case that we have a ton of people (like 32 or 48)... Example taken from Touhou Suimusou Kansai Tournament #4: http://babylon.gilgame.sh/~dakanya/kt4/ Legend for anyone interested: ◎ 2-0, ○ 2-1, △ 1-2, × 0-2 48 players entered 8 pools of round robin, 6 players in each! top 3 of each pool = 24 players then we have 3 single-elim 8-man brackets! winner of each bracket = 3 players a final round robin to decide the winner! TL;DR Enter Guilty Gear, get to play a bunch of serious games!
  2. @ShelledMenace: Thanks, I'm glad you're offering to help! I'm always looking for people to help me and the more help, the better! To be honest, we don't have enough people to run things in Norcal. If anyone had to quit right now because they had to move or had to prioritize real life, chances are that it'd be a pretty big hole to fill! It's not that running brackets or organizing things is hard but it does take time and experience. The first thing anyone can do is say they're willing to help and become a "floater" aka backup staff meaning you could switch off on the brackets which is especially important when the bracket runner/TO needs to play his own match and/or is entered in more than one game. I usually just have a list of people in my head whom I think are responsible and ask but officially having people willing to help would be great and if we had more people committed to being on deck, that would be awesome. It would be a big help if you could assist Aginor this Dogfight with running the P4U 2v2 bracket and I might ask you to switch off with me sometimes on Gundam if we do end up running a tourny for it.
  3. After taking the past couple of Dogfights into consideration, this is what I've planned for this week. Don't hesitate to give your feedback. Major points of change I will be leaving early Unfortunately I have to leave early this Dogfight but Aginor will be running P4U in my place so please assist him! There will not be a P4U danisen Although the danisen has been fun, I've already had to cancel it a couple times due to low turnout and I have realized that it is difficult to have a danisen at an event with other games going on at the same time. The other games distract people from participating in the danisen and with that on top of the shaky turnouts, it makes it difficult to justify having the danisen. I've thought of a couple ideas to get around this such as having half the ranks play from 3pm~4pm and having the other half of them play from 4pm~5pm but ultimately I'm going to need some more help to keep the danisen going. Let me know if you liked it, if you still care about it, and/or if you'd be willing to help officially run it. Gundam is to be cut from the stream Cutting Gundam from the stream allows us the freedom of running it whenever people want. Due to how much of a hassle it is to stream Gundam in the first place and how almost nobody could make it last time, it's actually quite difficult to schedule stream time for Gundam so this could be for the best. Guilty Gear will be 6-man round robin pools + bracket In an effort to address the concerns about the potential gap in skill and experience, I have decided to try running round robin pools so people can get in more tournament matches. In this format, everyone is guaranteed to play at least 5 sets instead of just 2. The top 3 of each pool will earn the right to advance to a final bracket. The lineup Guilty Gear Accent Core+ $1 entry, winner takes all entrants are to be seeded into round robin pools of 6 top 3 of each pool advances to a final bracket TOs: Dakanya, PhaethonH, tenkai Persona 4 Arena 2v2 teams, $6 per team, winner takes all double-elim SBO-style best of 1 (A vs A, B vs B, A vs B) TO: Aginor AQUAPAZZA double elimination entry fee and payout: to be determined TOs: Manabe, Tsubasa Gundam Extreme VS $2 per team, winner takes all single elimination bracket subject to be cancelled if turnout is too low start time will be determined on-site TOs: Dakanya, Tsubasa Schedule On-site event schedule 3:30pm~6:30pm: Guilty Gear Accent Core tournament 8pm~10:30pm: Persona 4 Arena 2v2 (signups and start as early as possible) TBD: AQUAPAZZA TBD: Gundam EXVS Stream schedule 4pm~6:30pm: Guilty Gear 6:30pm~8pm: casuals or poverty 8pm~11pm: Persona 4 2v2, AQUAPAZZA top 8
  4. The real problem w/ xbox will be sticks. thkthkthkthk will be bringing his xbox and Tsubasa will be supplying two sticks I think?
  5. For anyone who missed it on the Dogfight thread, I have decided to move Dogfight to October 27th which is next Saturday, not this Saturday.
  6. Thanks for giving me your input everyone! I've decided to move Norcal Dogfight one week later to Saturday, October 27th! Get hype for PS3 Guilty Gear!
  7. crossposting from the Norcal Dogfight thread... Hey this is kinda short notice but it's been suggested that we run a week later instead so Dogfight would coincide with the PS3 GGAC release. I don't mind but what does everyone else think?

  10. The next Dogfight is next Sat, Oct 20! Would people be game if Guilty Gear and Gundam was just $1 to enter? Tourny format may be TBD on-site.

  15. it'd be news to me if people played up there. people usually play at gamecenter. there's an event today (norcal install) actually
  16. Thanks to everyone for coming out on short notice! Unfortunately we didn't have enough people to run the danisen or Gundam but we did run a Guilty Gear kumite/gauntlet as a welcoming event for KBnova and we ran another big team battle but I think I might have to ban Pain and 2GB from being team captains... lol. The next Norcal Dogfight will be on the third Saturday of October which will be October 20. NORCAL PARADE 8v8 P4U exhibition results PAIN ShelledMenace (Akihiko) 1 - 1 ehuangsan (Yu) 0 - 1 magz (Chie) 0 - 1 dakanya (Elizabeth) 0 - 1 DarkTalon (Yu) 1 - 1 Tari (Labrys) 0 - 1 KBnova (Yukiko) 0 - 1 Pain (Kanji) 0 - 1 2GB smiles (Kanji) 1 - 1 yoyokirby (Yosuke) 4 - 1 tenkai (Akihiko) 4 - 0 WINNER Aginor (Mitsuru) notkbf (Chie) Pavo (Mitsuru) Tone (Labrys) 2GB (Aigis)
  17. just dumping some stuff I translated from the BBS a week ago so I can erase it from my notepad 6H is throw invul again. The old input for Asanagi inputs (K) don't work. Burst cancel is still in. 3H>236D is key combo route. Last hit of spirit bomb blows them away and downs. Also you don't lose your meter if you get hit before it actually comes out now. sweep > asanagi ryuujin > FB puff > 2h > 6h~h > get a charge or continue w/ another asanagi special inertia glitched gekirin > 2h > 6h > FB puff > 2h > 6h~h > " gacho is still in and can be done off asanagi gekirin & prolly kenroukaku but FB puff doesn't wallstick now so it doesn't vortex on crossup
  18. its cool, chipping in with your opinion is always better than not =) i think random 2on2 would be kind of cool too.... ehuangsan: I see the old man army has gained another strong player... instead of practicing I will continue to play Shiren 5 since I have no CRT... maaaaan I wanna play :<
  19. Was planning on it but do tell us who this special guest will be... in terms of Persona, last month might be hard to top lol
  20. AQUAPAZZA all the time. OK in my unproductive musings of what to do for P4U this weekend, I forgot to mention something important. October is National Blitz Month so we'll have a setup for Akatsuki Blitzkampf. And if you haven't heard yet, Guilty Gear will be coming to PSN/XBLA on October 24th (Japan time) and will be 1500yen or 1200 MSP. If you're interested in Guilty Gear, don't wait until the next version! Start now! Feel out the characters! Although relearning combos may be an issue, most of the fundamentals will carry on to +R such as movement, footsies, mechanics, etc!
  21. We can have it but I need you guys to run it.
  22. I confirmed late last night with the forces and elements that this Saturday can be a Norcal Dogfight and was going to announce it today but you beat me to the punch. After this Saturday, the next one will be October 20th. I'll be making a more formal announcement in a bit! ... We're having another Dogfight this Saturday at Gamecenter! Now taking suggestions on what to run for P4U after the danisen. Personally I kind of want to see a 3v3 and since we had a 12v12 last time that means we could potentially have 8 teams...
  23. crossposting from the DOGFIGHT thread... P4A players, have you guys heard about Tight or Fight? Answer this quick survey, it'll take less than a minute! (FYI: it's a P4A tourny that's happening this Sat at MGL, $10 entry + chance to win a stick!) https://docs.google.com/spreadsheet/viewform?formkey=dGd0aUV3c3JmME5LVlJTUjVjTnRadmc6MQ
