At Evo East a few years ago, they thought their terrible LCD monitors were lagless because people could do combos on them, then realized very quickly how flawed that testing method is after getting called out. "I learned how to do a combo playing with this screen" doesn't even mean anything, you learned how to time some button presses, which is muscle memory, and the timing of those button presses is the same regardless of what the display is showing.
