I was watching a few of Satou's videos on youtube, Killerwatt and it seems that if you're close enough after you land a coin for a pressure string, you can walk up and tag your opponent with a 2K if they try to poke out. From there you can follow up with 2S > 5HS > mist cancel etc. if your attempt was blocked so you can continue pressuring and try to find another way to score a hit. Never really occured to me to try that until I saw it. Now I just have to play someone to try it out. If the people you play just throw out pokes just to throw out pokes, try an early 2HS to stagger them.

...You tried youtube? That's where I found them. If not, you're gonna have to play scavenger hunt in the AC videos thread.

KJ FRC jump install tricks; see any SANKA combo video. Those are filled to the brim with KJ tricks and cross ups, etc. If you've seen them then yeah, you know what I'm talking about. For easy mode, you can wait as you cross them up and tap S for a cross up j.S land into 5K, etc. combo. Once you get them used to that, you can tap j.K earlier than when you're gonna cross up and come down with a j.P, j.K, land, whatever you know?
-
Really? You keep your air-dash? Interesting. Never knew about that but eh, when do I ever auto-jump install anyway?
-
You have to push up during 5K. Pretty much, any jump cancellable move that can chain into something you can jump install. So you do 5K [8 as it hits], 5HS, KJT > KJ (FRC), S, jump, K, S, HS, D Ensenga, etc. You'll probably want to hit the opponent before you decide to move in the air. Your training dummy might recover before you even get to hit. Unless you're doing an air-dash K, S or somethin'. Getting KJ to connect is pretty tricky on a lot of characters. Some set ups work for some and some don't for others. You don't want to be too close or too far. You just have to practice character specific combos most of the time. It's usually pretty bread and butter, though. Edit: Kadius, you may want to mention that if you start your combo from a single jump, you'll retain your second jump as a jump install. If you do a combo from a double jump or a super jump, I'm pretty sure you don't keep your jump install. ;D

Oh wtf, I barely saw the quote from me talking about not going to Devastation, lol. I'm pretty sure that on the week of Devastation, I heard it would be possible for me to go-- so I went. Pretty last minute. It certainly wasn't planned out like.. EVO or anything. My bad guys. You recorded that match? I barely remember playing it.
-
lol, return jack for a mist setup. Nothing says 100% Tension Waste than that. My bad, I guess I got you confused with some other Johnny player. Johnny is Johnny's worst match up. 10:0
-
Snap. We should play if you do-- I'm pretty sure I saw you there last year but I didn't get a chance to play you. It seems I'm going to Devastation though-- so.. whoever else is going to that, I'll see you there. I'll rep teh JO in AZ for Rialto. Anyone been working with Johnny lately? I've been messing around with a few tricks (in my head) so.. let's see how this goes.
-
Sol is American too. At least that got this thread a little active. Any Johnny players heading to EVO09?
-
Why did any of you guys ever pick up Johnny to begin with? I used to play Chipp back in GGX and didn't really like him in XX. When I heard what Johnny's mist did, that's what pretty much did it for me. "Unblockables? FUCK YEAH!" Back in the day when I heard "Johnny mist cancels", I thought people were talking about canceling his normals with.. the mist. I was like "Why is this good? This sucks." Ah, scrubbin' it.
-
Nah-uh, I don't play. I did play once upon a time but yeah, it's #R so who cares? Plus I could only play on pad. Stick doesn't register well at all for some reason on my PC. D:
-
I'm not going to Devastation. :/ Metroid? Wtf is that. Do you still play #R PC online, Free?
-
What's a female version of Master Chief doing on page 58? What's up Dustloop SoCal? ...apparently nothing... GET HYPE FOR DEVASTATION AND EVO!!
-
Sounds like a trap... ..fuck it. Might as well post since I have this window open!
-
..wtf is up with your avatar? lol. HAVEN'T YOU GONE TO CHINA YET D:< and.. why aren't we talking in IM instead? I think you mean feat. If we tried what you said then we might get banned for spamming.
-
Shut up ajinkris. Guys, we have to catch up to NorCal. Their thread almost has like 700 pages. Let's do this. lmao. Fucking Hellmonkey

@Equalizer: Against faster characters like Millia, Johnny has to be a lot more patient. You're gonna have to choose your battles against Millia, Chipp, etc. You may have to resort to waiting out their pressure and punish their mistakes (if any). You'll need to learn what to watch out for (for Millia, watch out for her 6K overhead; also if they are fancy, look for the slide FRC into falling j.K aka dirty overhead). Try not to start a combo when Millia force breaks a disc. You'll just get counter-hit and combo'd for your efforts. Don't forget about Millia's roll. Try to bait and punish this by intentionally leaving big gaps in your pressure to make it look like it's safe to roll. I had some casuals against a Millia back in March. Here's the video. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jWMPojKVX_0&feature=channel_page You can kinda figure what I'm trying to do in the vids. Use it as guideline of what to do/what not to do, etc. My advice though.. block. A lot. If you can't block then you better learn it. Nowhere better to learn defense than casuals.
-
lol, well thanks for the input. I was kinda just posting the videos just to contribute to the thread. I don't mind the criticism at all but I'm pretty sure I know what I have to work on (aka combos, everything in general) to cement my style. I don't know how many of my videos you saw but uh, yeah. I love to mist cancel. It's just fun. Thanks again though. ;D

Hey, I'm bored so I'll throw some feedback your way. Although it is one match and I really won't be able to get a good grasp of your habits but uh, we'll see how this goes. At the start you air-dashed at Sol! You wanna die or something? lol. That's prime VV position. You're lucky he air-dashed back, haha. Sol players tend to start the match with a 5S. My advice would be to defend at the start but I am a stickler for trying to take the match as soon as it gets started. If you want, you can beat Sol's 5S with a 2P. Though you won't be able to follow up with anything. Maybe you can dash and throw while they are confused that you actually beat their (supposedly safe) 5S at the start of the match. If you would have started the match with a 6K, you would have had a good start but don't sweat it. 6K is really risky unless you believe you can read minds. Since he air-dashed backwards, he wouldn't have any tension to FD even if he wanted. Might want to keep this in mind against any character you fight. Air dash back = Free 6K. Most of the time. Anyway! When Sol knocks you down, get ready for the fun part. His jumping mix-up is too good, especially against Johnny because Johnny has no real wake up game. My advice is to try to block and keep the panic to a minimum, lol. FDing Sol's rush down works pretty well since he has to get in so close to begin with and you're just pushing him off of you which means he'll just have to work more or have to start throwing out command grabs to keep you from FDing. But back to your play-style.. ouch. Jackhound right into gunflame for a Sidewinder loop combo. Not a good look. I honestly don't feel Jackhound fits the SO/JO match-up. There have been very few times where I've been able to pull off landing this move outside of a random ground combo. Sorry, I'm just critiquing as I go along, lol. I am LOVING that one hit ensenga you pulled off in the corner off of a coin > 6K though. Fucking awesome. Good shit there. That'll teach Sol not to install dragons. ..VV. Ouch. lol. See? 5S at the start. D: 2P that shit for confusion. Defend to be safe, though. If you wanna be safe. Haha, I caught a little problem, too. You tried to do 6K like 3 times in a row. Third time you FRC'd. It did land you a combo but you might want to not repeat the same move over and over. Your opponent may catch on and punish you royally for it. Be careful. At 1:59, you could have 6HS > Jackhound or something to keep the combo going instead of going for a coin. You might want to work on watching when your opponent is crouching-- you'll be able to land a 6HS most of the time. If your opponent is crouching and you go for a mid-mist finer, you'll probably whiff right over their head. That shit has happened to me plenty of times. You counter hit his VV! But the follow up was kinda.. bad, lol. It's okay though since you still won the match! ;D Oh no, now you jumped backwards instead. It seems like you really panicked that last round. Don't lose your cool-- if you lose your cool while playing Johnny, then you aren't really playing Johnny. You always have to be cool. One thing I noticed is that you bursted pretty early in your matches. It's difficult to choose a safe way to burst on Sol, I can barely think of any off the top of my head. Try to keep an eye on your burst and the situation you're in. Don't burst right away! That's really all the advice I can give you for now. If you had a small batch of vids or something then it'd be easier to get in your head and see what you're trying to do. Hope this advice helps you out. Don't get discouraged! Just get better. ;D Edit: Whoah, I typed a lot. lol. Edit #2: Uhh, now that I realize.. this post would have been more useful to you what, 25 days ago? lol. Good games.

Hey guys. Long time no post! Uhh, apparently there are some matches of my casual play up on youtube from last weekend. Figured you guys may be interested in checking them out. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mGfnfqRglm0&feature=channel_page On the right there's a bunch more. Feel free to have a look, lol. ;D Mist Cancer. As MCR would say "Black beat is black."

Confused Jo reporting for duty.

I back tracked a few pages. Hi, I'm Jo. :D Red Baron EXTRAORDINAIRE! I've been TKing everything since before Jesus was born. I should wear a button that says "Ask me about TKing." That mix-up wasn't near impossible as you claimed it to be, when you get right down to it, it's cake!
-
Hey TGS-- wtf? lol. why so temporary
-
Yo'. A safe option would be to throw a coin before you do divine blade transport into your potential mix-up. Another one would be to knockdown in the corner, mist cancel and go from there. Just make sure you bait properly for wake-up uppercuts, supers and even dead angle attacks. Good luck.
