  1. BTW, I just wanted to lol @ Street Fighter X Tekken. Ralph called it, but I thought it wouldn't happen. I naively thought Capcom was going to make a brand new fighting game, something they haven't done since Rival Schools in '97.
  2. Great matches, AGnat, Seung, and Severin. Sev, you're a beast.
  3. *yawn* just got back from FFA, I can't get enough of BBCS. <3 Carl. GGs Tronzilla, Ehx, CrimsonBlaze, BlueGarbage, and all the other people I played against. Jason, it was great to see you back and dominating with Rachel. I'll be there tomorrow, probably all day, so maybe I'll see you guys there.
  4. Fixed! And yeah, I can't announce this enough! FFA has BBCS arcade in super-mega-aweomse tm cabinets! (thanks to Mike Z. for selling his board!).

  7. And we're back! Some of you may remember, some time back in ancient history, that FFA used to run airdasher tournaments. Well, now in 2010 it's time to start back from our 7 month break. Our Bi-weeklies will go just as they used to: - Every other Sunday - Guilty Gear and Melty Blood @ 2PM - BlazBlue @ 5PM. Some minor things will change, but the format will stay. Check out our sister thread: http://www.dustloop.com/forums/showthread.php?9066-FFA-SoCal-arcade-scene-BB-GG-MB-(and-other-airdashers And our ever growing website: http://www.ffa-united.com/ The last tournament was beastly. Rules: -2/3 matches, 2/3 rounds, Grand Finals 3/5 (subject to change) -Double Elimination Bracket. -Counter-pick for character allowed on loss. -Double Blind character selection available on request. -Glitches are allowed, game breaking glitches are not. Thanks to Rotanibor for hosting this tournament. If for some reason we have to do a Round Robin, there are a couple different ways of doing it. Here are the rules you can expect: -In a Round Robin, everyone has a chance to fight everyone. -The number of matches you win will count (So 2-0 is recorded and 2-1 is recorded). That means even if you lost you can still get 1 point. -At the end of the Round Robin, the top two players go to Grand Finals where it runs like Grand Finals from a Double Elimination Bracket (the person with 2nd most points has to win two sets, the person with 1st most points has to win one set). -If there was a tie for 1st place, both players go to grand finals, but with no advantage. This will be only one set (possibly two sets but both players would be even), but 3/5 matches (or higher depending on the game). -If there was a tie for 2nd place, there will be an automatically decided tie-breaker on who gets to go to grand finals (usually it's who won between the two player's matches during the Round Robin). -Round Robins are only done if there is a really small amount of people for a game (like 4, 5 or 6), or it can be incorporated into a Swiss Bracket if there's more than 64 people. Both cases are unlikely. Most Round Robin tournaments are fuzzy on if they do Grand Finals or if they give only 1 point total for all matches put together, so I figured I'd just want to clear that up ahead of time. Side tournaments not listed here are encouraged, just please try and ask me ahead of time. If for some reason I am lax on an update, the next tournament will be 2 Sundays after this one (8/22). If you have questions about rules, comments about how the tournament went, or notice something I missed (like another tournament happening on the same day), please let me know and I'll try and resolve the situation. Hope to see you all Sunday! Note: Skull Girls location test is very likely to take place during these tournaments. We are also working on possibly having a more permanent station for the SG Beta in the future. Keep posted for more details.
  8. Just got BBCS and put it into the cabinets (woot!). However, we're still troubleshooting some kins in it. For now only one player is working (which is on free play until we get both working). The cabinets MIGHT get ready by the end of tonight, but should be ready for tomorrow night barring any unforeseen events. I'll be making a thread in the Event threads section soon for the upcoming tournaments.
  9. We've got all 4 of them in a row next to our main SF4. We need to check what kind of voltage they use (If it's JP, then we have to modify it) before we can turn them on. But we'll see about getting stuff in them tomorrow. They're definitely roomy for one person, but that wall was practically dead space anyways. It's nice having a 32" HD LCD screen all to yourself.
  10. We just brought the cabinets into the arcade. wow... The pictures don't do it justice. I'll see about maybe putting Guilty Gear in them until we get BBCS.
  11. The new cabinets have just come in through customs (4 of them, possibly 2 are head-to-head [with just one panel] and 2 with 2P panels on them). The space was cleared in the arcade for them when we pick them up tomorrow. They're HD Delta 32 cabinets (these). At the moment we don't have anything new to put in them, but they'll be coming soon (*cough* BBCS *cough*). Until then Ralph will probably put in some other games he's got (Maybe Guilty Gear and putting Vampire Savior in the GG spot or something). Also, this Tuesday is 7/27, which means BBCS! I'll be at the arcade with my copy on the day of release (Tuesday), as well as the Thursday afterwards (for airdashers Thursdays), and on Saturday (Maybe even Sunday and Friday, too). So the whole week I'll pretty much be up for BBCS. Tournaments will start again! Sunday, August 8th is the date I'm looking at. Melty Blood: Actress Again (Console) and Guilty Gear Λ Core (Arcade) will be at 2PM, and BlazBlue: Continuum Shift (Console PS3) will be at 5PM. You can also expect these to come bi-weekly like we used to. P.S. Airdasher (and other) tournament schedules are coming soon on FFAs website: ffa-united.com.
  12. Seung has been at the arcade nearly every night delivering some Guilty Gear punishment. I swear, he knows how to play every character expertly.
  13. I'll be down tonight for GG and MB.
  14. Good Games, Seung and $2. Seung, your Potemkin is such a beast...
  15. I'll be here for games for it, but my copy won't be coming in this weekend. It's still on backorder. So if someone wants to bring it, we can play, but otherwise it'll just be GG and MBAA.
  16. Great games tonight $2, Dinnerplate, BadX, and Raptor. I had a lot of fun.
  17. Also, if I haven't mentioned it, if anyone has a copy of CS and wants to bring it, I can set it up for casuals.
  18. Oh, and would Tuesday nights or Thursday night be better for weekday casual meet-ups? Thursdays were good for me, but the guy who works Thurs nights got in a nasty car accident and I'm covering for him. Looks like it might be a permanent change, too. I get off at 10, so it's not too big a burden, but I heard a couple other people ask for a different day, too. So I just want some other opinions.
  19. Ralph is working on getting a BBCS arcade version, but there's a lot of factors involved: - There's a patch coming to arcade machines. Already if you buy a new one it has Mu and the new AHs. There is also supposed to be more patches to come. Ralph's in contact with Aksys games trying to figure out what's going on in that department. - The console version just came out, so Ralph is trying to get the best deal he can. Ralph is already in contact with Mike Z., but I think Ralph has other offers, too, so we'll see. When we get the game, though it'll be on some badass HD arcade cabinets that are coming through customs right now. Expect cool things coming in the future (BB and non-BB related things). There's been a lot of things that have been occupying Ralph's time that were more important than getting CS (kind of personal things that I can't really discuss). But, he's working on getting that and MBAA for arcades, so hold tight. P.S. Does anybody know if BBCS fixed the arcade version so that Event Mode doesn't include free play?
  20. I'll be there tonight for games. No BBCS yet, but I'm pumping for GG.
  21. So, I'm planning on trying to start tournaments up again when the US ver. of BBCS is out. I'm thinking at least two weeks after its release. What day do you guys think would be better, Sat or Sun?
  22. No CS yet. I talked to Render at Evo, and he said he had the same problem. He called up Playasia, and they said their next shipment will come in on July 15th, which is this Thurs. So, I might have it Thurs, considering I ordered it with fastest shipping and Japan is something like 15 hours ahead of us. I'll most likely have it by Saturday, though, so I'm up for games on Saturday.
  23. Looks like I'm working all day today. I get off at 10PM, but I'm up for games after, and if something happens on the machine I'll fix it while I'm working. I can't stay too late, though, I want to get an early start for EVO tomorrow morning, and I'll be driving there. No, no CS yet. Fuck Playasia.com.
  24. Well, I don't know my schedule anymore for today. Ralph has a hotel room in Las Vegas for EVO and wanted to know if I wanted in with him. So I don't know when I'm leaving and all of that. I might end up working today because of it, too. We'll see. I'll post an update from FFA when I know more.
  25. Usually later at night around 8-11PM. Seungpyo is here almost everyday at roughly that time, but he's a monster (Got 43 wins Thurs night). The best thing to do is if you don't see anyone playing, hop on and fight the computer anyways, that'll let other GG players know you want to play. If I'm out playing another game and I see someone good is playing the computer I'll challenge, I know a lot of other people think that way, too. Thurs nights seem to be the best time to come, but Friday and Saturday are obviously great nights also. I'll be bringing in my PS3 copy of BBCS once it comes in the mail from Playasia, so we'll have challengers for that, too.
