  6. My access to arcades is limited since I don't have a car. It's pathetic to be in Houston without a car. I'm pretty much the only person my age that I know of without a car in Houston. Loved playing Guilty Gear, but only one guy would ever play with me, and he refused to learn combos. Since everyone else quit after I did combos on them (half of them were just improv shit on characters I didn't even know how to play) I really lost motivation to get better at the game. I can at least pull off some strings in F/UC since it's fun just practicing the combos by themselves. I use a pad, so I could never pull off the 649 stuff though. I mostly played Archer, but again that was just against people that couldn't beat arcade mode.

  8. I live in the Cypress area and go to school at University of Houston. I'm a pretty terrible player since nobody I know wants to play for more than three weeks. Best I ever got was two months of play on Unlimited Codes after my roommates finished playing Fate/Stay Night with voices and got mancrushes on Archer and Kotomine. I'm mainly up for some BlazBlue netplay with bearable lag. Can't do much until after the 17th due to finals though.

  11. I actually got the stick for free... guess I got what I paid for? So I should get the HRAP3 for PS3? A post on the previous page said that Hori buttons are "mushy" though, and the front page of this thread says that Hori sticks tend to break in a year or two.

(I have to screw it back every time I get a break) -Is it normal for certain buttons to not respond unless I hit them really hard right in the center? -Is the button spacing normal? It feels like my hands are too small to use the stick properly, and I'm getting cramps in my right hand after using it for too long. -Are there going to be any technical problems that I wouldn't immediately recognize because it's PS2 and USB compatible?   13. I picked Jin because of his voice. I changed for awhile because people kept leaving when they saw I played Jin... ended up being absolutely terrible with Rachel so I switched back to Jin.

  16. I figured out my problem with that combo (2D, 5C, 214A, 5A, 22C, 5B, 214A -> 214D), I was trying to do it against Jin. Works fine against Tao...
  17. I can't pull off this combo: 2D, 5C, 5D (1 hit), 214A, 22C, 5B, 5C, 214A -> 214D After 22C, 5B, 5C 214A won't connect before they recover. Am I too slow or too far away?

  22. How can I input upward motions on a stick without moving my entire arm? I've been trying to push the stick with the back of my ring finger for up motions, but the accuracy rate on diagonals is not good. Moving my entire arm to control the stick seems like it'd be slow an inefficient. Edit: Also how do you tell if a stick lags on something precise like 1 frame? Is there a way to find out?
  23. About this combo... I think this is the right one, was just messing around in training mode after watching some vids: 6C, DC, 5C, j.C, j.D, air dash, j.c, j.d, j.214b When/why should I use this combo over the standard air combo? It seems to move the opponent a little further, and I think you recover faster from the ice car since you're closer to the ground. Is this used to get better oki or for the final push to the corner? Also is the 5C, j.B, j.C, j.D etc combo possible on Rachel/Carl? I seem to completely whiff Rachel.
  24. 6a combos on crouching opponents, and they're probably crouching if they get hit by it. Special cancelable on hit, 19f hitstun against crouching opponent, 214b takes 17f to get out c mash takes 8f. 6a > c mash also combos even on standing if you can get c mash to come out as soon as possible, but I'm not sure you can get a launch from it. I've tested in training mode and it combos. Buppa also uses 6a on occasion and hits with it pretty often. He might be somehow getting momentum from a dash to carry over into 6a > c mash to put him close enough to get a launch, now that I think about it. Or it could just be character specific. 6a will also combo into 214d, and near corner you can relaunch for very solid damage. Jin's overhead isn't good, but it's been proven to be practical. Usually used with enough heat to cancel it if your opponent blocks high.
  25. What are some combos I can get off 6a? I usually do 6a > ice car, sometimes ice car D near corner to get a combo off it. I know Buppa does 6a > c mash(8) > dash? 5c?/6c? air combo, but the timing on all that is pretty precise, and even he drops it sometimes.
